I’ve been using this cast iron skillet for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed! Unlike traditional cast iron, this pan is lighter and has a polished surface that makes cooking and cleaning much easier. The pre-seasoning was excellent right out of the box, and food doesn’t stick as much as I expected. The stainless steel lid is a great addition, and the handle cover helps with heat protection. Really great cast iron skillet: smooth finish, like one of expensive pans e.g. Stargazer and Field Company, but with a more modern look. I have many cast iron pans, including Lodge, Victoria, Le Creuset, and Staub and this Cooklife pan has quickly become one of my faves. I bought this 10" skillet because of the smooth milled finish and lighter weight. I was a bit worried that it had only one handle (I prefer my pans with a helper handle) but since it arrived, I've been cooking in it nonstop! If you know how to handle cast iron (preheat pan on medium heat, then add oil), you'll have no problems. I fried two eggs in it out of the box, almost no sticking. Make sure that the pan is hot before you add oil. I also use the OXO metal fish spatula on all my cast iron (not enamel). Weighs 4.2 lbs, and is just a terrific pan. I was deciding between this one and the Lodge Blacklock 10" skillet. This one has a much smoother finish than the Blacklock and weighs about the same. I would never put this in the dishwasher, but clean it like my other cast iron by rinsing in hot water, scrubbing w a brush if needed, then drying it on the stove over low heat. Follow up with a bit of oil if needed. I'm seriously thinking of getting the 12" one though I really don't need more pans! ... show more

I have been cooking with cast iron skillets for 45 years. This is an excellent Skillet. Light, easy to clean and a great smooth cooking surface and the cooking of meals are thumbs up. Side of skillet has a little more depth for ability to cook with more ingredients and to stir.

This is a good set of cast iron skillets. It was well packaged and delivered quickly. It is made of cast iron as it is heavy, actually not that light enough compared with the aluminum pans. It can be heated to cook the food homogeneously, smoothly and quickly without any sticking. I was looking for a cast iron skillet with a lid, and I didn't want a glass nor a heavy cast iron lid. This seemed perfect, but I was still skeptical, as I was expecting the lid to be a cheaper, lightweight aluminum. It is DEFINITELY NOT that! It has some heft to it, but it's not cumbersome. The skillet is a work of art, and the bottom is smooth, which will be perfect for my glass top stove. At the current time, I have a gas stove, so I went ahead and used the skillet to reheat a burger, and it was perfect! I did experience some slight sticking, but I think need to season it a bit more, which will definitely happen over time. The skillet itself is beautiful, with clean lines and a nice handle. It comes with a leather handle cover, which isn't my favorite, but it does work. I would definitely purchase other items from this company. ... show more

I bought this as a gift for christmas, to help my mother swap from coated nasty chipped pans, to something that doesn't have all those harmful cancer causing chemicals. Good old cast iron is hard to beat, and lasts forever. This pan is easy to clean, very smooth compared to normal and cheap cast iron, and the food cooks and tastes great. I will definitely be buying other sizes in the future. The packaging and everything about it is excellent. I was very pleased for the price. ... show more

    • Not Microsurface like 12 Inch - Not even close!

Let me start off by saying we have the 12 inch version of this and love it. The cooking surface is polished smooth which results in food sliding across and not sticking as well as easy cleanup. Unfortunately the 10 is not even close. The cooking surface is rough and everything sticks. Think 200-300 grit sandpaper. Cleanup is also a PITA when compared to 12 inch. So sorry to see this since we really love the 12 inch and was hoping for a smaller lighter version. Sending back for a refund! ... show more
