  • US AC adapter
Color: Black Capacity: 14 TB Style: Desktop
Package comes with 2 types of plugs AND a US adapter. So if you live in the US, attach the UK plug, THEN plug that into the US adapter. No need to buy another AC power adapter.

  • Did not come with a US power supply
Color: Black Capacity: 14 TB Style: Desktop
The power supplies typically come with a variety of plugs that can be swapped so that they will mate with the power supply for use in various countries. However, these two WD Elements 14TB drives dd not come with standard US two-prong plug adaptors. Also, I was unable to even slide out the plug adaptors that were shipped with the drives. I've purchased many of the WD Elements HDs with no issue, but for the two that I just purchased, I needed to buy extra power US supplies. It seemed like less effort to buy the power supplies than to return the drives. I also wasn't certain that the replacement drives would come with the proper power supplies. ... show more

  • They came from Spain with the wrong power adapter for the USA
Color: Black Capacity: 18TB Style: Desktop
I always buy Western Digital external drives and am sure I see the information about "Visit the Western Digital store." AS the IT Manager, I have had good luck with Western Digital for several years now. But, in this case WD dropped the ball. The drives will no doubt be fine. I don't no yet because they are in the process of being completely formatted. However, the power adapter plug is European and not American!!! We will be fine, but this is inexcusable!!! WD in Spain knew when they sent it that it was coming to the USA. ... show more

  • Fine for an affordable, light-use hard drive, but buyer beware...
Color: Black Capacity: 18TB Style: Desktop
I just bought six of these Western Digital external 18 TB drives to migrate data onto from older drives. Under heavy use, all of these WD externals only seem to be reliable for about four years or so, whether they're from the Elements, MyBook, MyCloud, etc... lines. I've literally purchased dozens of them over the years, and use them almost exclusively for archiving, not constant/daily read/write use. My lowish rating on this (6)x18TB purchase is due to the fact that these six drives from Amazon did not come with a US-compatible AC adapter (power brick). Instead, they arrived with European-style adapters. I did contact Amazon about this (there was no indication of this in the product description, and I've bought many similar WD drives before and they always come with US-compatible adapters) and frankly, the Amazon tech support I was directed to was no help... after an hour all he could come up with was for me to return all of the drives. I also sent emails to 5 or 6 different US-based people at K-tec (they make the AC adapters) asking them to provide their part# for US-type plug prongs for the adapters (the prongs are interchangeable so they can be used in different countries). Sadly, I never received a single reply from any of them. In the end, I just ate the loss: I could/can buy US-compatible AC adapters for these half-dozen drives at a total cost of about $100., but for now, I'm just using the old adapters I have from smaller WD drives that I'm retiring. I know $259 for 18TB seems great (I've even seen them for $239 lately elsewhere) and if you're OK w/the knowledge these are NOT drives that will be good for constant use over many years, but better suited for light use/archiving, then have at it. But try to confirm that they come with the AC adapter you require, because this last bunch did not. ... show more

  • No US electric plug provided!
Color: Black Capacity: 18TB Style: Desktop
This item does not come with a US functional electric plug. I used the charger from another WD product and it works fine. I do not understand why Amazon sells it in the US.

  • Good storage at a good price... IF you have something monitoring the prices and are willing to wait.
Color: Black Capacity: 14 TB Style: Desktop
Biggest hassle for me is that this drive came from overseas where they didn't put the right ends into the box so the power supply (which is modular to support the various end types) could work in the USA. Fortunately, as a computer guy who keeps lots of power supplies even after the products die, I did have a compatible power supply available. Even better, WD support sent me a US power supply. ... show more
