  • Decent, about what is typical in the market space for this device but the wifi bridge is extra
I've used a few different "smart" locks in my time (recently with Air B&Bs I work on or own) and they are all rather similar in that they are easy to install (most times hardware and door cutouts are standard sizes) and most can be programmed for several different access codes. This lock goes a bit above in some ways over older ones (but inline with newer ones) in that you get FOBs as I've always known them to be called. No biometric entry access (finger print) which is about 50/50 as a standard on smart locks these days unless your going budget level. App interface and blue tooth is also a plus but rather standard these days at this price point. Programming is easy, a plus as some can be not so user friendly. The draw back on most of these locks is rather similar in many ways and I tried capturing some below. Most times handle styles don't match existing home hardware. Some, really its rare, have an ability to remove the handles and replace them with handles from your existing hardware set so it matches. This isn't the case here that I found so its a negative in my view. Wi-fi access. This seems to more so be something users (consumers) are also on the fence about and so its a touch call to include the bridge needed for wi-fi access but my belief is add it in the package anyway so consumers have the choice vs charging them extra later, or say someone else moved in and wanted to use wi-fi but the bridge was no longer found for sale. (This brings up my third point) Market sector and size, what i am saying is how big is the presence of this manufacture in the market space of smart locks. My experience is locks from like kwikset, yale, schlage tend to have most of the market space and have been around a while, which tends to lead to more available of parts and support in the present space and further down the line. This is a point because if I can buy a big brand name for close to the same price (similar features) I am less inclined to by an off-brand thus if you are an off-brand you need to be real competitive with pricing and pull out all the stops in terms of features. All this brings me back to smart locks over the 150 USD range that don't include, or some can't even support, the bridge/wifi connections. I'd say jumping to name brand can sometimes be 30% more in total costs but do you really want to go high end budget with home security things such as locks or go high end with less technology. Really a call for the consumer and for me its 50/50 depending on where it is installed, a garaged door entry inside the garage, sure, perhaps an air B&B maybe, my personal front door entry, no. This lock overall, nice feel decent options, average price. ... show more

  • Zowill Smart Deadbolt Lock
The media could not be loaded. LOVE this smart deadbolt! This smart deadbolt is replacing another electronic deadbolt that has a fingerprint reader but frustratingly hardly ever recognized my fingerprint. I’m very glad I opted to try this one. I’m very happy with it! It’s a piece of cake to install. Not really any more difficult than any other deadbolt or electronic deadbolt, and it requires zero modifications to your door! This smart deadbolt features the ability to lock/unlock program code and key cards all within an app! It’s also possible to do it without the app if you so choose. It provides instructions on how to program it either way which is fantastic! The keypad is very sleek looking. Instead of standard buttons you have a touch pad that when the numbers dim, it’s just a shiny black flat surface almost like glass. Only once you touch jt do the numbers light up. You can of course open this with a standard key, or you can use a key card (my preferred method). You’re provided 2 of them with this smart deadbolt. And of course you can use he keypad to type in a code or as I mentioned you can also use the app! One thing I did not like if that this deadbolt did not come equipped with a single security pin. What is a security pin you ask? Well, as a hobby I enjoy the art of picking locks. Security pins are inside the lock cylinder where your key inserts. They come in a variety of different shapes to make picking locks much more difficult for anyone inexperienced. This lock only came with all standard pins which is a disappointment because I can have a lock opened in literally 5 seconds when equipped with standard pins. I always open the cylinders of every lock I use to see what they come with and when security pins are not used there’s only one reason for it: cost. It can save a manufacturer a few cents per lock perhaps, and most people are none the wiser, but this adds a false sense of security to anyone who thinks they are properly securing their home. Even a novice picker could open a lock in a short time. So security pins are very important and often overlooked. The first thing I did was to add some to this lock. Even though this smart deadbolt did not contain a single security pin, I would still recommend it. The lock itself is fantastic and works flawlessly. Security pins are not the end all be all and in most home invasions/burglaries the perpetrator is most likely going to opt for a blunt force approach and kick the door instead. It’s still very good practice to use security pins and the manufacturer should absolutely include them, but if you would like to add some it’s not difficult and any competent locksmith could do it in their sleep. ... show more

  • Great!
I've previously had a fingerprint lock and it was always hit and miss. This is a better option and is very reliable so far. I like that it has multiple access options, the card, app, code, or old school key. It was easy to install and is working like a charm so far.
