Our covered deck has steel framing and I wanted something that would allow us to enjoy it more often throughout the Colorado seasons. I didn’t want something that required me to either drill into my house or taking up floor space that could be knocked into by rambunctious huskies or kids. This was the perfect solution! I purchased 2 of these for our 12x12 space which is perfect. Pros: -1 remote works both units individually, making it easy to adjust each heater as needed. - I love the ability to change both the temp and “fan” speed, along with a timer function so I don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn it off. -The mounting bracket allows for us to hang it anywhere and angle it to where we need the heat most. -Overall the installation was easy, however If you’re mounting it high like we did, I’d suggest a second set of hand to help balance while trying to tighten everything down. Con’s: -not really a con just more of a warning: unless your circuit is a high amperage (30+), you can only run one heater per circuit due to the power consumption or it will pop if you turn up the heat past the lowest setting. Luckily we had 2 outdoor outlets on different circuits. So far we’ve had ours for about 6 months and have had no issues. ... show more

Great small heater! I strapped it to a tree that I wanted to save from a freeze. Wrapped the trunk with a wet blanket and then the heater. It kept the tree warm enough to save it this year. I will order another for next year to strap to the other side of the trunk since the tree will be larger (I hope) ... show more

It's okay, but you should tell people it only displays temperature in celsius and there's no way to change it. I'm really bummed out about that. it does get hot but, this is America I don't read in celsius... 🤷🏾

This one-piece heater unit arrived nicely padded and undamaged. There are several foam rubber shock absorbing pad "clips" on the glass tube heating element that must be removed prior to plugging in the unit. There are orange warning stickers on the pads explaining this, but for those that don't read instructions (you know who you are) you'll probably find out quickly that the pads need to be removed the moment you plug it in and turn it on. The mounting included mounting hardware allows the unit to be strapped to a post, or wall mounted using L-brackets. For testing, we strapped the pillar bracket to a portable sign post using the included ratchet strap. The heater bracket slips into the pillar bracket and a long threaded wing-bolt secures the two brackets - there are detents to allow tilt adjustment. There was supposed to be a spacer for the wing-bolt, but that was missing from our bag of mounting hardware. Also, the pillar bracket had to be bent a bit to allow the wing-bolt to enter the threaded nut welded to the bracket perpendicular - otherwise it would have gotten cross-threaded. There are two remote controls included, but no batteries are included (each remote uses two AA batteries). You MUST use the remote to control the heater - there are no buttons on the heater itself. The remote functions are pretty intuitive, except for changing from Celcius to Fahrenheit (must press the page button then Up or Down button), and Lock/Unlock for child proofing - although it's good the lockout sequence isn't intuitive. The heater element glows quickly, and warms items pretty well. We tested it outside in 32°F calm weather on our wide-open patio. With the heater mounted about 3' off the ground, we felt the warmth from as far as 4-5' away. It is very directional, so you need to be in close proximity to the heater to feel it. It would be good for a small space where you can be close to the heater - otherwise you'd need a couple of them to cover more area. The heater has a 6' power cord with a grounded plug. The instructions warn not to use an extension cord, but unless you have an outlet near where you can mount the heater, a short, heavy gauge extension is almost a necessity. The heater has a CSA certification rating sticker, but no UL rating. I dropped one star off this review for the following issues: - Missing hardware - Mounting bracket not formed accurately to allow wing-bolt to engage properly - Short power cord - No UL rating - Price ($399.99 at the time of this review) - over twice the cost of similar heaters, some that include free-standing mounting poles. At this price point, I would expect zero issues - no matter how minor. ... show more

I have to say I am really disappointed. The mounting is why I purchased this heater. My need was to mount it to the post. The post mounting bracket will not swivel. At all, even with tools trying to force it, it won't swivel. The balance of the mount is also bad. I have a square post and even if it was facing the correct direction it just hangs down directing the heat downward instead of straight out. The heater may work fine, but it isn't quite as advertised for the versatility. ... show more

It works incredibly. Better felt up close but can still comfortably feel it from 5+ft away. Set up is straightforward and easily done by 1 person with all the tools included.
