  • High quality, Electric Pellet Smoker!
Size: 697 Sq.in
We ABSOLUTELY LOVE this electric pellet smoker. Rated 2021's second best smoker, it has stood up to it's ranking. The built in temperature gauges have been a life saver and I love how it does not billow smoke like a wood fire smoker. We can actually use this in the garage on a rainy day! It was a tad difficult to assemble as far as the legs go but easy as pie after that! Would definitely purchase again!! ... show more

  • Stay away from new PID controller.
Size: 697 Sq.in
Great looking smoker, easy assembly, BUT....Will not hold temperature!! Smoke setting will go up to 240 degrees, lowest I could get it was around 215 degrees. Contacted ZGrills who sent me a new PID controller and had the same outcome. Go with the older controller style and not the new PID style. ZGrills was in contact with me throughout this issue, until the new PID did not work, now crickets......500.00 for a smoker that I can’t smoke with, pretty disappointed. ... show more

  • Great pellet grill for the price.
Size: 697 Sq.in
I've cooked on this a few times. So far no issues. There is definitely a bit of a learning curve coming from a traditional grill or griddle to cooking on this as far as how to really get the smoke flavor in what you're cooking. Assembly definitely takes a while, make sure you follow the instructions. ... show more

  • DO NOT PURCHASE A Z GRILLS PRODUCT!!!
Size: 697 Sq.in
DO NOT PURCHASE A Z GRILLS PRODUCT - I purchase a lot of products on Amazon and my experiences have been almost exclusively positive. As a result, the reviews I write are almost all positive reviews. I hesitate to write negative reviews, because I give the benefit of the doubt when I have the infrequent negative experience and try to work with the company to make things right instead of going public with my gripe. Only if I feel the product is poor AND the company is not trying to resolve the problem will I be motivated to write a negative review. Over the 15+ years of using Amazon and buying 100s of product through the platform, I have only been motivated to write maybe four or five negative reviews. Honestly, this negative review is the one I feel most passionately about, not only because of the problems we have had with the grill, but because of the unsatisfactory way the company has dealt with one of the problems. Let me explain. The first problem we had this grill was never reported to the company, because I was able to fix it myself. Here’s what happened. The grill comes with a cover for rainy weather. What the company does not tell you is that the cover is substandard and is not actually waterproof. (A Z Grills cover that actually works to repel water is an accessory sold separately for an extra $50.). What we also were not told is that the lid on the hopper is not effective to prevent preventing water from seeping under the lid and soaking any pellets that happen to be in the hopper when the rain comes. We purchased the grill in 2024. We had a rain shower in September or October. Despite the fact that the hopper was closed and the included cover was properly installed over the grill, water still seeped into the hopper and soaked the wood pellets in the hopper. They disintegrated and when they dried, they dried into a solid, rock hard mass that essentially froze the auger and prevented the grill from working at all. Fortunately, I had a mechanically and electrically inclined friend visiting from out of town who helped me disassemble the entire hopper and auger apparatus and slowly over the course of 3 hours, chip out the rock hard mass of congealed saw dust and free the auger. I am still shocked that we were able to fix this mess, but upon testing, the grill was operable after that. We did not use the grill very often during the fall and winter this year, but when we started using it again in the spring, we found that upon reaching a high temperature, the grill would suddenly shut off. Obviously, the grill became unusable at that point. I contacted Z Grills Customer Service and they seemed to be able to diagnose the problem over the phone by way of my description. They said it was a faulty temperature regulator and promised to send me a new one. I told them that I am not electronically or mechanically inclined and suggested that they send someone out to install it for us as the grill was (and is) under warranty. They told me that they do not have the ability to service their grills, which I found odd given that they sent a team to our home to assemble the grill when we purchased it. In any event, the part they sent me was far more complicated than a mere temperature sensor. It was an entirely new control panel assembly with a revised and updated electrical harness. There were no instructions included with the assembly. I spent 2 hours attempting to uninstall the old control panel and install the new one in its place. There was a lot of guesswork involved in the wiring work since the wiring harness has been updated and there were no instructions. At the end of the day, I though I had installed it correctly, but when my wife and I went to use the grill, it would turn on, but it flashed an error message indicating that it would not heat! Again, the grill was unusable. I contacted Z Grills customer service again and they sent me a long explanation of what they thought may have gone wrong. Again, I requested that they send a repairman out to make sure the part had been installed correctly, reminding them again that the warranty means nothing if the problem is not actually fixed. However, they again told me that they did not offer any kind of "repair service" and instead sent me a complex set of troubleshooting instructions that I did not even bother to read. I warned them that this review was coming if they did not make this right. I told them that they had sold us an essentially worthless product with a worthless warranty and demanded my money back. After two days, Z Grills responded. They ignored my demand for a refund. They again denied my request for repair service. They offered to send me a replacement hopper assembly. I assume that when I receive it, it will be another complex fix that will yet again require someone familiar with these machines to properly assemble. That's what the warranty should provide us as customers! If this fix does not work and Z Grills continues to keep my money, I will have to make a formal claim to Amazon. If that doesn’t work, I suppose we’re off to small claims court. In summary, functionality is poor. The warranty is essentially meaningless. We have not been able to determine smoker quality, because the device has been out of service so frequently that we have not been able to get a read on quality. And, the service department has been less than helpful as far as respecting the spirit of the warranty. As I said at the beginning, DO NOT BUY A Z GRILLS product. ... show more

  • Does (most) everything well
Size: 697 Sq.in
I don't post many reviews anymore, but this product was worth the effort. After using the unit for about 10 cooks, it has proven to do everything quite well. The only feature missing from this unit that could be attractive to some people is WIFI connectivity, but that is available in a newer version, the 7002C2E/7002F2. I'll try to touch on some key considerations that I thought were important in selecting a pellet smoker, and how this unit fared against those key criteria. First, I wanted a smoker that had a sufficient capacity to smoke a good sized turkey (17-20 pounds). And a really important point related to the grilling area was the pellet hopper capacity. If you're smoking something big, like a whole brisket or a couple of pork butts, you want to have a pellet hopper that's big enough to allow 10 - 12 hours of continuous operation. I was happy to find that this unit has both plenty of room for a big turkey, and sufficient hopper capacity for a long duration cook. Next, I was concerned about the unit's ability to maintain a constant temperature. When you're cooking low and slow, it's really critical to be able to depend on keeping a fairly constant temperature. Again this unit scored very well, as it was able to maintain temperature within about 5 degrees for some long duration cooks. Another important consideration for me was temperature probes. It's very convenient to have integrated temperature probes, so you can monitor internal meat temperature without opening the smoker. This unit has 2 probes, and the temperature from each registers on the control panel. They're not as accurate as my hand-held meat thermometer, but good enough to within +/-3 to 5 degrees. The one and only issue I have encountered with this unit was a lack of ideal smoke flavor in the first few cooks I completed. There is a 'smoke' setting, but the operating temperature when using the 'smoke' setting is very low, so using it effectively makes every cook take longer. The better way to remedy this issue was to use smoke tubes, which can be purchased on Amazon separately. They're inexpensive, and made a big difference in smoke flavor. I found that a single smoke tube can produce supplemental smoke for about 3 hours. Overall, this Z Grills 7002C turned out to be a very good value, and does almost everything really well. I didn't care about WIFI connectivity, and with the inexpensive addition of a set of smoke tubes, this unit does everything I need. My family has raved about the food I have prepared so far, and more experience with the smoker should only make for better results. One other point I didn't state earlier - it's very well made, and feels sturdy. You do have to assemble it yourself, but I was able to do that without assistance in about 45 minutes. ... show more
