It seems like a left handed ruler to me. Held in the left hand the inch is upside down and counting backwards. Held in the right hand the inch is ok but I mark with right hand, which is holding the square. I wish they made this inch only and readable left or right. I do like the magnet. Would not buy again with this ruler. EDIT: I've looked around and it looks like this is on all rulers which are both inch/metric. I'll keep searching for an imperial only ruler. When held in left hand I want 1" to be on the right (both scales). When held in right hand I want 1" to be on the left (both scales). I have several like this but they only go to 16th inch.

A few reviewers mentioned that this "square" is not square. That was true for mine as well, but I investigated it further and determined the problem was NOT with the metal, but rather the PAINT. When they put the red paint on it, it seems to get sprayed on the important part of the "handle" right where the rule sits. Moreover, the pain was only on one side and not the other. That made for a very small imperfection in the squareness. I took a utility knife and scraped the glob of paint off where the rule rests on the handle, and re-checked the squareness...now perfect. This is a great design and I find it to be very easy to use and now very accurate. Also VERY easy to pull the ruler out and use it by itself and then pop it back in.

The magnetic tension on this is fantastic... It's very strong without being overly difficult to adjust, and absolutely zero play in any direction. The body of the combo square also appeared to have appropriately-flat edges when compared to one of my Woodpeckers tools. However, the ruler itself is drastically out of sorts, as one end is much wider than the other, and the edge of the ruler itself is anything but square. This unfortunately makes the whole thing useless, but if you can find a trustworthy ferrous ruler to fill its place then it can still be a good, unique combo square. It's really too bad, too, because the markings on the ruler are really nice and clear (better than my Woodpeckers), and accurate. The first two images are from opposite ends of the ruler, and the next two images are those ends compared to the Woodpeckers ruler (it should be clear which one is which). Unfortunately, the Woodpeckers ruler isn't attracted to the magnets, so now the search for a ferrous precision ruler begins.
