This was a very easy unit to install. It's a simple combination of a small transmitter and a receiver that plugs into a power source. The transmitter is about 2 5/8" x 1 3/8" x 3/4" and the receiver is about 2" x 3 1/4". I really like the simplicity of the design. The instructions state "Please avoid installing on metal objects ...." and, of course, the door I got this for is a metal door. I checked it out first and it seems to work just fine. There is about 7 ft between my inside receiver and the push mechanism (transmitter) on the outside of the door. Screws and rawl plugs are provided, however, I used the double sided sticky tape also provided and it works just fine. (I did not want to be drilling holes in my front door). The chime is very loud, but it's very easy to turn it down by pressing on the top side button. There are multiple chimes to choose from - 38 in fact. It's a bit like choosing a ringtone for your phone - some of them even sound the same! However, the electronic jumble of sound from most is NOT the noise I want to hear when the doorbell rings ! It would have been nice to have had more than one or two 'conventional' doorbell chimes to choose from. I do not believe the transmitter is waterproof .... it doesn't look like it and it's not mentioned in the instructions, so I erred on the side of caution and installed this on my actual door, not the storm door. Time will tell how long this works for. ... show more

I installed this Wireless Doorbell in my home and its performance is worth its cost. The self-powered door chime kit with no battery required is not only eco-friendly but also cost-effective. With a push button cordless doorbell ringer, it offers a loud volume up to my upstairs allowing me to hear the doorbell from anywhere in my house. The old wired in doorbell at my parents house finally broke, and I was looking at options for repair or replacement of what they had. This doorbell worked out better than I expected. Existing replacement options were more expensive, and felt dated so decided to give this wireless system a try. The existing doorbell button outside was mounted with two screws, and was easy to remove - this new doorbell button has a 2 screw mounting format, and was a very simple process to switch to. Usually these wireless systems require a battery, what drew me to this system was the battery free design of the button. The button has a firm press and click to it, and every button press triggers the chime inside the house with no problems. An added benefit was that the original doorbell in the house was mounted on a wall above the door going to the garage. Since this is in the far side of the house, the doorbell was hard to hear in some parts of the house. This doorbell chime can be plugged into any outlet in the house, so we were able to locate it more centrally, so that the doorbell can be heard anywhere in the house. Since there are 38 different doorbell sounds, they were happily discussing maybe changing the doorbell music seasonally to add a little variety. Since it's hard to judge long term quality from the initial install, should the button or any other part fail sooner than expected, I'll come back and update this review to indicate that. (The date of the review can be taken as the date of install.) Overall, they were very happy with the modern look, small footprint of the chime plugged into the wall, the available music options, better location of chime in the house - ended up a great choice! ... show more
