I will say the camera quality of the Google nest is actually really good! You can zoom in and out, you can speak to people through the doorbell, it records motion & also keeps track of your deliveries and packages! The battery life is not bad at all especially for being battery operated! We charge our battery once every 3-4 weeks which is honestly really good! It provides really good night vision and super easy set up! Plus there are no hidden fees, no app fees and no weekly bills! It connects to your cell phone with Bluetooth & WiFi and overall just a great deal. After my mom saw mine, she ordered one for her house! I’ve been really happy with this doorbell. One of the best things is that it’s battery-powered, so I didn’t have to mess with existing wiring or a complicated setup. Installation was simple, and the app was easy to connect. The battery’s easy to remove and recharge, which makes upkeep super straightforward. The video is clear, motion alerts have been reliable, and it’s just nice being able to check who’s at the door when I’m not home. All around a great product. Cons: The battery life is shorter than I'd prefer but not so short that is not workable. I can leave it up for over a week at a time on a full charge. The "home" app displays the percentage of charge it has and how long that should last it but the time estimate seems to be way higher than accurate. It's also much bigger than i expected but I'm given to understand that most of these video doorbells are this way. That is also because this is the battery operated model which is bigger to accommodate the battery. Pros: Setup was very easy and it walks you through installation if you need it. Installation is also a breeze. Very simple and straightforward with the option to use an angled block behind it or not, to suit your preference. The picture quality is largely dependent on your internet and distance from the router to the doorbell. But it's always been plenty clear enough to tell what or who is in frame. The night vision turns on right when appropriate and makes it very clear. Audio quality is great. I have had conversations with my daughter while I'm at work as she gets home. She can hear me perfectly and I can hear her clearly as well. ... show more

******UPDATE TO ONE STAR; ZERO IF I COULD***** Okay… so I’m not relying on this terrible quality of a camera to catch a thief, but it only recorded 10 seconds of the event. Yup, we were robbed and the car windows smashed. The car was literally parked right in front of the camera, so there should be no excuses on missing something. It doesn’t capture cars anymore unless they are literally in my drive (it used to) and the quality is about that of a pile a dog excrements. Oh, it captured the whole conversation about the break-in to my neighbor. It capture me taking photos of the crime scene. It capture my wife in disbelief. BUT DO YOU THINK FOR ONE SECOND IT CAPTURED THE EVENT IT SHOULD HAVE CAPTURED??? …. nope. This thing is in the trash now. Going to a completely different system. I am out of the return window, so shame on me. Amazon is doing wonders about faulty devices and direct you toward the manufacturer to sort out (even though you can't get your money back for the device because it was purchased through Amazon). This device works well if you're viewing the footage live. The recordings are also great, but ONLY when they work. You get half recordings, or so it seems, with this device. It doesn't pick up a person half the time until they are right up on the door, or you get a video of their back. An "event" only lasts 4 seconds (yes, I've maxed the settings to 30 seconds) and that's never enough time to figure out if something went wrong or someone was trying to break in, or whatever it may be. For example, I had a car just use my driveway as a turn around point, but they got out of the car, checked their tire, got back in the car and then reversed out and drove away.. maybe 20 seconds worth of time. But the camera ONLY recoded them pulling into the driveway... a 4 second video. Google came out in some articles you can find on the interwebs about how it's a "thermal" problem and this device does not record 24/7. Funny how you can literally go backwards in the functionality and engineering, but charge MORE for the device. Crazy. Oh, AND you have to pay a subscription fee for something that doesn't even work well. There are many forums and articles about this issue, but it seems google wants to do nothing to fix it. I've changed zone settings, sensitivity settings, factory resets, ensured the device was connected to a WiFi connection that is good (which is literally 10 feet away from the device), etc. So, I think I'm going to chalk this up as a loss and buy the old version (which supports 24/7 recording and is WAY better with the 'foresight' feature as I have family who use it. ... show more

It's fantastic. I've had zero problems with it, I connected it immediately and setup notifications on my phone to tell me when someone is at the door. It can be set to not pick-up foot traffic outside of a certain zone, and thus far I've had no problems with it at all. Pros: - The battery life is insane. I bought it at the beginning of June and it's now mid-September, and the battery life estimate is 36 days currently. The time to re-charge it would be maybe a couple hours on a USB-C connection, and I'll probably do that on one of my days off next month when I'm having lunch at home. - Notification speed. When I leave the house, I'm pinged on my Garmin watch within 1-2 seconds that someone was detected at the door. I don't have it setup to recognize me, so it just sees a person at the door, and I'm notified instantly every time. Same when I come home, I'm getting a ping before I even have my keys out. Cons: - The field of view is a little smaller than I would like. If you're quick, you can entirely dodge the camera by moving to the inside of my door. You'll still get picked up, but it's possible to not have your face detected. This is less a flaw of the camera and more the placement that I have to work with, but the option for more FoV in smaller areas like this would be great. - False positives are a thing. If you look at the camera at night by manually accessing it, the camera will detect the change in light from itself and notify you of motion. A little annoying, but you can turn off motion detection pretty easily which will solve the issue entirely. Overall, 5/5 stars for me. I use it every day and it's been an absolute life saver for someone living in an apartment complex with no ability to hard wire a connection. There's a no-drill mount you can get from Wasserstein, that is by far the best one I have found and it's wonderful. You will break the camera before you break the mount (I've had someone try once already), and it's held up wonderfully. Huge recommend on my side. ... show more
