  • Works with the newest Google doorbell.
Bought a newest Google door bell. I used the hole from the peep hole to run the wire through the door. Not the most elegant solution but it works great. The adapter provides plenty of power. I like how the wire blends in with the base board.

  • Perfect
Worked perfect on my nest Thermostat Connect 1 to C and the other combined with red to R Used a simple wire cover kit to run it from near bye wall outlet

  • Here's what you need to know about using this with Google Nest
This product is great, super helpful and easy to install. So why do half the reviews say it works with Nest, and half say it DOESN'T work with Nest? After many days of trial and error and enough research to make me a subject matter expert on 2 wire systems, I've found that it all boils down to this: Nest has a finnicky base. I installed this 6 or 7 different times before my Nest was happy. I checked polarity, I checked voltage, I tried wrapping the smaller wire around the larger wire where they both connect to the same port.... ultimately it just took a lot of careful placement and then it worked. My Nest has been happily powered and error free since then. Of course now I'm afraid to remove it to touch up the paint where my former larger thermostat sat but that's a different matter altogether....Still worth it to go to a programmable thermostat. ... show more

  • Pain to install; please read up before attempting
3/13/2025: With the help of previous reviewers, I was able to figure out the correct way to install this for my Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen). For reference, my A/C system has a gas furnace (forced air) and electric cooling. Initially, only four wires were available: W, Y, G, and R with a little jumper wire to Rc. To remedy this with the C adaptor, I connected W, Y, and G to the same terminals BUT I ended up connecting the white wire (with the gray stripes) to C and the R wire ALONG WITH the white wire (with wording and numbers) to the Rc terminal. Since our original thermostat didn't have an Rh wire, I didn't bother to connect it to that. While this works really well now and I'm happy I bought it, the installation instructions were terrible and definitely kind of useless. I'm appreciative of the previous reviewers for their help. ... show more

  • Perfect for Smart Thermostat in older house
Exactly what I needed to upgrade my smart thermostat in an older house that does not have the modern wiring required for a smart thermostat. Clear and easy instructions, simple set up. Less than 5 minutes to connect.

  • Dead transformer probably returned before by another purchaser
I bought this along with a Sensi smart thermostat. I knew the existing thermostat had no "C wire", and that my simple heat-only system would require such a supplemental transformer. The thermostat worked on the wall but the remote function kept failing within minutes of set-up, with a message indicating it was not connected to power. I spent hours trying to figure out what I did wrong in connecting the wires but kept getting the same result. it finally occurred to me to check the transformer. I had an old multi-meter, and the voltage meter never moved when I checked the transformer. This seemed so unlikely I even bought a new meter thinking my old one must be no good. But--same result. So I ordered a second transformer, a different brand at about the same price. (who knows really what the brand is; there are all pretty generic and probably come from the same Chinese factory). Voila! it did register on my meter and the thermostat also worked fine when I connected the second transformer. Obviously poor quality control, but what irked me most was that I was suspicious anyway when I got this that the termostat had previously been returned: the plain white box it came in, no markings of any kind, was coming apart. I imagine the earlier customer also said it did not work. I am returning this one and hope it's not palmed off on another unsuspecting customer. ... show more

  • It’s good and worth the price!
The product and service are good, it is very easy to connect and a good solution if you don’t have a C wire!

  • Best headache relief!
This transformer is like aspirin! It arrived quickly, and was easy to hook up. It’s been plugged in and powering my thermostat for several months now, without a single issue. I bought a smart wifi thermostat to replace my older thermostat that didn’t need a C wire. Ohh... I can’t tell you how frustrating this was. I had the C wire, but it wasn’t plugged into anything. Being that I’m not an electrician I didn’t want to blow up my furnace or a/c, or new thermostat by connecting the C wire to the wrong thing. HEADACHE!! So I looked for a safer fix, and found this. I read the review that suggested that this burned up someone else’s thermostat, so I was concerned. But, I’ve realized that that person obviously plugged the live/positive wire into the wrong spot, or possibly with the negative wire. As someone else instructed; One wire goes in the R slot with the red wire and the other goes in the C slot. If you aren’t sure which wire is positive please use a voltage meter to check before hooking it up. If the wires are marked: wire with the stripe or the dashed lines carries the "positive" (+) end, while the other, unmarked wire carries the "negative" (-) end. Positive should go to the C wire place on the thermostat. If you don’t do this properly you can create a fire hazard, but it’s not this product’s fault. ... show more
