Description

I was given a 3-4 gallon Betta tank with built in filtration and led lighting with a betta in it. Loving the tank. but I wanted to watch it while I eat and cook so I put it next to our window in the kitchen and it kept dipping into the 60's and the Betta just sort of laid around. Figured he needed some heat. Bought this, tested it in a jar over night. Worked perfectly. Raised and lowered the temperature without a problem the next day, of course it was a bit slow. So I placed it in the tank hoping it would not look to bad. Cannot even see it against the black filtration side. No one notices it at all. I will try to post photos. I have several of the little 10 watt USB ones from this brand, which have been working great for a couple years, but one of those can't heat a gallon to 80 degrees in winter, so I ordered the 25 watt one for my sea monkey gallon bowl. (They've been living but not thriving at 70 degrees.) I have a thermometer in the bowl and it has read about one degree lower than any temperature I set the heater to, (I started at 73 and slowly turned it up to 80) which is really good accuracy for a cheap aquarium heater. The one I received looks like the picture except it has a rubber cap on the tip of the bulb, I guess to prevent breakage, so I don't really mind. I'll update if it fails. ... show more

I purchased the 25w for a hospital tank I set up to treat my betta for fin rot. The heater works fine but the temperature reading is 2 degrees lower than my calibrated food thermometer. If you buy it, make sure to test yours with a good thermometer. 2 degrees makes a big difference in a hospital tank. too low, and your fish will be stressed. Too high and bacteria and fungus will grow easier. Construction seems really good for $20. Pro tip: Never trust any heater completely. They can, and frequently do, get stuck in the on or off position. Therefore, it is always a good idea to pair the heater with a quality temperature controller like the Inkbird ITC-308S: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R195CQF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It's got a nice small size, and it's easy to read with the digital display. I liked it so much I'm getting some for my other five tanks. It really gives me a sense of peace to be able to see the temperature on display, some of my other heaters from other brands don't have that, and it is always a worry. That's a lot of peace of mind. And it always matches the thermometer. The suckers do have a tendency to come off, but I think that might be my lid because I move my lid a lot. The cord is so strong though that it doesn't flail around the aquarium. Even if it comes off the side, it's still stays in the area where I put it. ... show more

    • Wanted to like this - wouldn't hold a temp

Arrived on time. Set up in a spare "tester" bowl before using in with the fish. Like the digital readout and easy to use temp settings. Heated up the water relatively quickly, although it always read about two degrees off what my two probe thermometers were reading. Could have adjusted for that, but the unit would get up to the set temp, light turn green, go a few tenths (according to the readout) higher, and then stop heating. Red light would come on, display just dropped off a tenth of a degree at a time until it was several degrees cooler than the set temp. Did that when I gently swirled the water around, did it when I did not. I can't have my betta having wild temperature variations like that. Would have liked to have discussed with the seller, but is shipped by Amazon (?) so their bot won't allow me to do so. Really wanted to like this little unit though - it's a good size for a small tank. No alternative but to send back for a refund. ... show more

I liked the adjust ability and digital temp display on this nano tank heater. The first one just wouldn't settle properly on the desired temp and was 6 degrees high on the display. I returned it and got the new one with no problem....Thanks to Amazon's wonderful business practices. This heater is right on the temp and works the way I had hoped. My old heater still worked but the temp is not adjustable and I needed one to push up to 80 degrees f for tank cycling/bacteria growth. This heater does that job to a tee.
