I've got the AQQA 300W heater on my 55-gallon planted tank for about a month now, and I am thoroughly impressed. I was a little skeptical because of the low cost, but this unit works! Setup was a breeze — the suction cups are solid, and the screen is clear and bright (even from across the room). I put it on 77°F and it's been rock-solid ever since. The digital control is very user-friendly, and I like that it has a built in themometer. You can actually see when it's heating and when it's idle. My fish and plants seem happier with the stable temperature, and I’ve noticed less condensation and glass fog near the heater, too. It’s also very quiet — absolutely no humming or clicking like some other brands I’ve used. All in all, I’d say this heater performs just as well as others I’ve used that cost twice as much like fluval. Edit - I had to return this one because I found another heater that fits in my canister filter. But it doesn't change the fact that this was a great heater.

This is a powerful heater that holds temperature very well. Compared to my marina 100w heater in the photo, it does look rather bulky, but it blends in just fine in my cichlid tank. When I first plugged in the heater, my current temp readout was at 76f and I set it to 80f. It took about an hour to reach 80f, which is fairly quick. My marina heater takes a few hours. The temperature has been holding all day, even in a colder room. My room temp at the moment is 70f, with the window slightly cracked open and the tank is about 3 feet from the window. It kicks in when it's 1 degree lower, which is more ideal for those with sensitive livestock. Some heaters don't kick in until the temp is down to 5f lower than your desired setting! You don't have to worry about wide temperature swings with this unit. I appreciate the exterior temp readout and control module. It comes with a hanging kit and can be secured on the edge of the tank. It does take a few presses to get to your desired setting, because there's only one button. It just cycles through to 93f and starts over. Pressing and holding the button for 5 seconds changes it from F to C readouts. The suction cups are very good quality and didn't give me any trouble, but time will tell. Another thing I appreciate is that it has a memory setting in case the power goes out. I tested it by unplugging and replugging it. The setting always stayed the same. This gives me peace of mind. The only thing I do not like about the exterior module is that it can be easily accessed by kids... and kids love pushing all sorts of buttons... But I am single and don't have to worry about this.. Just be careful and keep an eye on your temp settings when you have kids over! Or better yet, conceal it to the back corner. It does blend well in some setups and may look bulky in others. This is something to consider. Personally for me the housing doesn't bother me. I'm not a big fan of the big glass tubes. My yellow lab cichlids are too big to fit in the slots, so I don't have to worry about any misadventure. I will keep testing this throughout the upcoming season and will update on any changes.

The media could not be loaded. I see complaints about people that owned this for a year and they start getting error messages after the warranty expired. The same thing happened to me, but first I saw the heater was active way more than it should be (for a while) the difference is I know how (I think) to fix it. FIX FOR THE ERROR MESSAGE if you look at the heater it builds calcium up just like any other heater so you have to clean it. I would not buy any dealer solution for it as you FISH LIVE IN THIS WATER so I use vinegar and water. I took a pic of it soaking and as bad as it is it's going to take a few days so I recommend getting a secondary heater while this happens. Unfortunately don't have one so I came back to order a 2nd one and hope my fish will be ok. I'll update this if it doesn't work but if I don't then it did

Purchased in January 2024 as a backup for if and when my ProAqueo gave up the ghost, which it did at 2 am Tuesday August 19, 2025. Spent the next 2 hours switching out the old tank for new and filled it with, heated, bottled purified water. Set this heater in the tank, without plugging it in, to acclimatize while putting on the finishing touches. When the water cooled to 80 degrees I plugged the heater in and set it also to 80 degrees. Placed my 27 year old red eared slider in, said good night and went to bed. At 10 am as I walked past to admire the new tank, I did a double take, were my eyes deceiving me or did the heaters readout really show 67 degrees? It was most definitely set for 80 and that is what it Indicated. Quickly plunging my fingers into unmistakenly COLD water, with a shudder I took out my trusted thermometer and sure enough the readout was a most definite 67. While this heater looks good and has a heft to it that conveys quality, all of which means nothing, if the darn thing does nothing but look good. And my turtle didn't look none to happy either! An aquarium heater is supposed to HEAT and this one most definitely does Not. So, as a parting shot, if you buy something for later use, you should most definitely test it before storing it away for a later need or an emergency! Fortunately my red ear didn't have to suffer too much longer because I always have a backup for my backups.
