I've got the AQQA 300W heater on my 55-gallon planted tank for about a month now, and I am thoroughly impressed. I was a little skeptical because of the low cost, but this unit works! Setup was a breeze — the suction cups are solid, and the screen is clear and bright (even from across the room). I put it on 77°F and it's been rock-solid ever since. The digital control is very user-friendly, and I like that it has a built in themometer. You can actually see when it's heating and when it's idle. My fish and plants seem happier with the stable temperature, and I’ve noticed less condensation and glass fog near the heater, too. It’s also very quiet — absolutely no humming or clicking like some other brands I’ve used. All in all, I’d say this heater performs just as well as others I’ve used that cost twice as much like fluval. Edit - I had to return this one because I found another heater that fits in my canister filter. But it doesn't change the fact that this was a great heater. ... show more

I love that you can make adjustments outside the aquarium. The last one we had was submerged so it made it difficult to change. Although we didn’t have to adjust the temperature often, it is nice to have the control on the outside. So far it is working as it should. It’s definitely an upgrade from what we had. ... show more

I have a few of these and I use them in my 55 gallons tanks and a 29 gallon tank. While much larger than most of the other heaters they work great and when mounted horizontal at the bottom of the tank you dont notice them that much. The fact that it remembers the temperature you set it to even when the power fails is a great feature. Keeps the temperature within 1 degree of what you set it to at all times. Does what it supposed to. Stays within 1 deg all the time and I love the digital readout. It might be a bit larger than the usual ones because of the plastic guard on it but I got used to it and it looks great now in the tank. Make sure to clean it out, it gets very dirty inside that plastic housing. UPDATE: After 9 months it died, shows EE and I cannot fix it. Tried cleaning it , let it dry out, Unplugged it for a day. Nothing, It will show the proper temp for about 3 mins then "EE" and it shuts off... Poor fish got cold. Looks like the warranty is 1 year? I Lowered the rating from 5 to 2 . Contacting Vendor, I'll update UPDATE- After contacting the Vendor and telling them the issue, they immediately sent a new heater, It was here in 5 days. Very impressed. I raised the star rating to 4 from 2 due to the customer service. Let's see how long this one lasts. ... show more

I see complaints about people that owned this for a year and they start getting error messages after the warranty expired. The same thing happened to me, but first I saw the heater was active way more than it should be (for a while) the difference is I know how (I think) to fix it. FIX FOR THE ERROR MESSAGE if you look at the heater it builds calcium up just like any other heater so you have to clean it. I would not buy any dealer solution for it as you FISH LIVE IN THIS WATER so I use vinegar and water. I took a pic of it soaking and as bad as it is it's going to take a few days so I recommend getting a secondary heater while this happens. Unfortunately don't have one so I came back to order a 2nd one and hope my fish will be ok. I'll update this if it doesn't work but if I don't then it did ... show more

Had 2 for slightly over a year, never had issues and worked perfectly. I set them and forgot them. I am buying another one today as one is beeping EE error. Too bad it is only a month after the warranty, but it is no fault in design. I set it and forgot it to the point that a lot of algae grew around it and I left it cause it looked good. I wont do that again, but since it worked perfectly under those conditions for a a solid 6 months, I trust this heater. ... show more

Purchased in January 2024 as a backup for if and when my ProAqueo gave up the ghost, which it did at 2 am Tuesday August 19, 2025. Spent the next 2 hours switching out the old tank for new and filled it with, heated, bottled purified water. Set this heater in the tank, without plugging it in, to acclimatize while putting on the finishing touches. When the water cooled to 80 degrees I plugged the heater in and set it also to 80 degrees. Placed my 27 year old red eared slider in, said good night and went to bed. At 10 am as I walked past to admire the new tank, I did a double take, were my eyes deceiving me or did the heaters readout really show 67 degrees? It was most definitely set for 80 and that is what it Indicated. Quickly plunging my fingers into unmistakenly COLD water, with a shudder I took out my trusted thermometer and sure enough the readout was a most definite 67. While this heater looks good and has a heft to it that conveys quality, all of which means nothing, if the darn thing does nothing but look good. And my turtle didn't look none to happy either! An aquarium heater is supposed to HEAT and this one most definitely does Not. So, as a parting shot, if you buy something for later use, you should most definitely test it before storing it away for a later need or an emergency! Fortunately my red ear didn't have to suffer too much longer because I always have a backup for my backups. ... show more
