I have a 100-watt M in a 9-gallon shrimp tank set at 72.5 degrees and it keeps water temp at 76.5 which is needed. My new 150 watt is set at around 80.5 and it keeps water temp at 76.5 and my Angel fish is content with good appetite. I own all three fluval heaters and fluval M has the best (profile) dam best looking heater out there I think, and closest wattage for my 36-gallon tank. After trying several different aquarium heaters, this Fluval M 150‑watt model is the only one that has consistently kept my 10‑gallon tank at the correct temperature. It heats evenly, stays stable, and doesn’t fluctuate the way other brands did. For a small tank that needs dependable temperature control, this has been the most reliable option I’ve used. For ambient air context, it's winter and the house dips to 60 degrees at night. I have a cover on the tank which is essential. I am taking off 1 star for the huge Fluval logo that really brings my tank down. ... show more

    • Good Heater, but Temp Control is Finnicky

It's a good heater and it does the job well, but the temp control is a bit finnicky and the numbers are more of a guideline than anything else. I have it set to 81F to get a 77F water temp. I'm not too bothered by the inconsistency because I don't keep any highly sensitive fish. If you want a very specific temperature and you have a very high-maintenance fish, maybe try something else. For me, this thing works great. The mirrored finish looks nice in the tank and the heater works really well for my 40g. I bought a temp cutoff device with a temp sensor that is programmed to kill power to the heater if the tank gets too hot (because heaters malfunctioning and cooking the fish is actually a big problem in the trade) and, so far, the cutoff device hasn't been triggered and the heater is doing well. I'd buy one of these again. ... show more

I really wanted to love this heater because Fluval is usually pretty reliable and it looks so sleek. The first one lasted a year and a half. The second one was broken on arrival. The third lasted a month. Big bummer, I’ve had cheaper uglier heaters last and last, but was willing to spend a little more just for an improvement in aesthetics. It’s just not reliable enough for me to take the risk again. I would skip this one if you want consistent worry free heating for your tank. ... show more

It works great and lasts longer than some other heaters. But like all heaters they do go out after some time. I like how easy it is to set but wish it had a digital display showing the temp instead but that’s a personal preference. The suction cups is amazing and I haven’t had any issues with them coming undone this is a big thing for me. I would recommend this product. Also it holds the temperature at the correct temperature that I set it too so no complaints. ... show more
