I use this to keep my 150 gallon turtle pond warm during the winter. In Hawaii, we don't get too cold, but cold enough for my red-ear sliders to suffer. This little heater works wonderfully and keeps the tank perfectly warmed for them and doesn't "strain" to keep the pond warm. Product does not have any form of over temp protection. The one time I forget to unplug it during a water change it begun to smoke and melted the holders. I never had any other problems with it otherwise and I'd still recommend it. Just place it lower in the tank if you're forgetful.
