  • Great little heater.
I purchased this little heater to heat my reef salt mix prior to adding it to my reef tank when doing water changes.

  • so far so good for a temperature range on the high side
Just as others have said, the price is competitive. This is my first heater, 50W for a 5-gallon tank that someone was giving away. The temp indoors has been 55F-65F. I set the heater at lowest temp, 68F. The temp in the tank will go from 70F to ~79F throughout the day. If I set the heater at 72, the water temp will be 72F-82F. (I am using a digital food thermometer to measure.) I don't know if this range is due to the smaller size of the tank. Most other reviewers have experienced the higher actual temperatures. Over the one month+ of this with the guppies (range of ages, some were very small to start with) seem fine, all still there and looking healthy as far as I can tell. Here's a helpful tip. If you want to turn the temperature control knob more easily, I found that a dry paper towel to provide friction works well. ... show more

  • Runs a bit on the hot side but a great buy as an emergency backup heater.
So, we Bought 2 of these as backups for a hospital tank as well another. They are great for the money, but I will say they tend to run a bit on the hot side so just make sure you have a good thermometer in the tank to also keep track of things. The suction cups are extremely strong on both, so if you don't want them to come out of your tank these are perfect. They do come off don't worry they are just extremely hard to pry off which is a good thing. Otherwise, the only thing I would have done different with these is to have some sort of covering around the glass bulb to protect any fish from possibly getting burnt on the glass but luckily most of my fish stay away from it right now. ... show more

  • Warms my fishtank
This is a decent heater. Very simple set up. I have it in a 15 gallon tank and I have to set it a little below the temperature I want or else it gets too warm, so make sure you're using it with a thermometer and adjust accordingly.

  • So good! JK
I bought this for my daughter's betta. We regularly keep the house at 68 degrees in the summer and 74 degreew in the winter. We live in the US, don't @ me. This aquarium heater worked wonderfully for the first 10 minutes. I submerged it per instructions, turned it on- then forgot that I hadn't added the water conditioner. I turned off the water heater and waited 15 minutes before I removed it- noting the reviews on how sensitive this thing was. Cool. Didn't matter. It didn't make a noise, didn't sputter, no crackling- just did not work. I know it worked the first time, because I felt the tank where it was sectioned and it was warmer. Not so after it was removed. I'm not going to say 'use this at your own peril', because it's possible that I received a dud. It happens. However, 5 stars for a faulty product? No. Do I think you can receive quality from this brand? The reviews seem to indicate as such, but I was not as fortunate. You get 3 because it worked initially, for ease of use, and maybe I'd done something wrong. I'm not asking for a refund and I'm not trashing this brand. Just be careful. Side note: the reviews are accurate in that it is a few degrees off. Set it lower for a 5-7 degree difference for it to be higher. ... show more

  • Buy it or don’t, it’s not gonna make you regret buying it but i don’t recommend it
It’s alright I guess but don’t buy it. Go to a pet store and get something that’s guaranteed to work and last
