This is a huge heater and I like how durable it is. My one sort of complaint is its definitely bigger than I expected. It does fit in my 20 gallon tank, but not with a ton of room. But thr product itself works great to keep my turtle warm.

Amazon luckily replaced the 1st one they sent. The heater was fine but the addition of the temperature readout was my problem. The LED screen was smashed. They sent me another. The temp on those is off by a degree but I can live with that. The heater works well. The rubber protective boot is great so it doesn't break. Setting it takes a minute as the finger dial is touchy. These heated come in different sizes depending what size your tank is you need to purchase accordingly. Nothing fancy about it looks just like a tube lightbulb that heats up in the water for your fishes or water pets. We have it for our turtle he enjoys being near it since it makes the water warm. It’s safe as long as it doesn’t start leaking any white substance. If this happens it best to toss away and replace. It’s lasted us for a while now so I would say it’s a good item. ... show more

    • It killed my snail

The heater creates heat, however, I use it with an Inkbird thermostat, so I can't vouch for how well it manages temperature on its own. What I do know is that design flaws resulted in the death of my nerite snail. First off, the glass gets very hot and it doesn't have any kind of cover. This usually wouldn't be an issue as most animals will get off of it if it's too hot. The problem with this model is the cap at the bottom that most heaters don't have. In my case, it create a ledge where my snail got stuck between the heater and the aquarium glass and was cooked alive. If that cap had not been there, he would have safely fallen to the tank floor when he let go of the heater. The combination of an exposed glass heating element and that cap killed my little guy. If you have this heater, make sure to angle the bottom away from the glass so there isn't a pinch point. ... show more
