Installed this for our front door. Works great in terms of remotely locking and unlocking the door, as well as auto-unlock when you're in a certain radius. However, if you have multiple locks, only one can be auto-unlocked. This lock works well with Ring - although you have to set it up with the Yale App first and then integrate with Ring. Since we're a Ring household, it works well with the subscription we already have. Otherwise, if you don't already have a Ring Paid sub, then do not buy this. Now the bad part - it drains batteries really fast. Not as bad as some other folks here reported, but like at least once a month. So, you'll burn through about 50 AA batteries in a year. Consider about $20 in batteries you'll have to buy every year at Costco or Amazon. Also, when the batteries are low, it starts making this annoying, very loud beeping sound that can not be turned off by acknowledging, locking, or unlocking. It runs through its beeping cycles and then ends automatically. I do not need to wake up everyone in the household to acknowledge that I need to change batteries. I still like this lock and will continue using it despite these issues but giving it only 3-star since for this price, you'd expect better. ... show more

    • It technically works, but a lot of features don't

The lock technically works - it does indeed lock and you can indeed use the keycode to enter. However, no matter what I've tried in the past several weeks (and I've tried numerous times), it absolutely will not connect to the smartthings app, which is the entire reason I purchased this in the first place. The hub can see the lock, but the lock either fails to pair or it pairs and then immediately drops. I've tried setting it up through the hub and through the smartthings app, and nothing works. The yale app is clunky, inefficient, slow, and is not intuitive to use. The instructions included were a travesty, completely unhelpful even for someone who's very tech savvy. ... show more

So yes this works but the app isn’t great and good luck setting up a key code as an owner there is a glitch in the system so you have to set it up to another name in your contacts list. There is no way to set a master code anymore. I would probably return it if it wasn’t already installed.

I have the 1st Gen Yale smart lock and still working flawlessly for several years. Purchased this new model to install at My GF house & faced all kinds of issues. Even Yale 24/7 customer service guys who were very attentive could not give me a solution other than sending a replacement which l declined & returned to Amazon since l have a feeling this model is flawed. List of issues: - 4 x AA batteries don’t last more then 12 hrs. We depleted 5 sets in 3 days. Issues was not resolve even after factory reset & removal of wireless model - Extremely had to impossible to connect Z-wave to Samsung Smart things. - Lack of voice assistant when access the lock menu from the keypad - instructions from Yale on programming are not clear & confusing. I recommend find used old model or shop other brand. ... show more

    • Faulty Lock + Appalling Customer Service

I received a lock that won’t connect, so hence cannot be set up. A code lock that won’t let me set a code! I had an email chain of about 20 different emails trying to get them to help with this, by the end of the chain when we had truly made the biggest full circle to my initial email, they answered back by saying “we closed this ticket.” Payed too much for such low quality. ... show more

    • Difficulty setting up and using the WiFi module

I’ve been constantly struggling to get this thing to work consistently, I have two of them and they both have the hardest time with the WiFi module and using the Yale app to set passwords. It will constantly through me through multiple loops of enrolling the device yet will never actually do it. Very frustrating ... show more

Bought for our side door. Installed and a week later it started making sounds like it was dying - checked the app & it said low battery so I replaced all 4 - battery still says “low battery”. Terrible customer service telling me to film myself putting the batteries in.
