Great rack but would get something else if I did it again. There are pretty much no accessories or extra mounts for this rack like there are with the other Yakima racks. I wish i had done more research because I've wanted to expand my roof setup and have been limited in what I can easily add. Haven't had success with finding a simple way to attach a shovel or axe that can't be stolen easily. Otherwise it's great. Very strong, no wind noise. ... show more

This cargo basket is definitely one of the best looking roof storage units especially compared to the standard wire baskets with a faring. It is sturdy, I have no concerns for failure under load. It is a bit on the heavier side as a result, but still able to be installed by a single person. Wind noise is notable; but that is present w/ all baskets; although I do believe this one would be quieter than the wire baskets. I took the risers off my bars and installed them directly to the roof runners; this lowered the basket by ~2in; which significantly decreased wind noise at high speeds. All in all an ideal cargo basket, well worth the price for those looking to camp/overland. ... show more

Ok, it’s not a Rolex. More like a a Swiss Army knife - made in China. It’s made in China and the quality is B- at best. The welds are not all ground smooth, the alignment between the two sections is close but, not entirely straight. It’s a good design and sturdy but, when the racks only support “150 pounds” why have a rack that weighs 50? It should be made of aluminum - steel is not needed for this application IMO. Directions are marginal. “Swap the the brackets 180 degrees”. Easier said than done. I like it but am a little disappointed in the quality given the premium price. ... show more

I bought the Offgrid and the extension for my 2015 Subaru Forester - it fits perfectly - even able to keep the original antenna. I have a sunroof - yes there is a little more noise, even with the fairing. Above 70 mph I notice I can hear it up there with the roof closed. No problem for me but just an fyi. I think it is a good value considering I assembled and installed it myself (50 year old female, with help lifting it up onto the crossbars) in less than 2 hours. It was pretty easy to assemble and mount on the car. Red spacers really set it off... it looks really cool and well made. We carried suitcases and ice chests from Riverside CA to Reno and back with no issues. My wife liked it so much we left it on her car. Now we get to mount an LED light bar on it and buy the shovel and axe mount kit.... go Subaru Crosstrek... ... show more

I purchased this basket with the spare tire carrier mount and my basket has a manufacturing problem. The holes on one side that attach the two basket pieces is not big enough for the screw. I have contacted Yakima customer service directly and they responded promptly. They decided to send me a new screw kit first, but that was not the issue. Indeed, it is the basket and not the screw kit. They have sent me a new basket once I confirmed. I should get the new basket tomorrow and praying it works. I saved the original box and will be shipping back the first basket to Yakima. They did provide a label, so won’t be paying anything. I just loss time and was disappointed I didn’t get to mount my spare yet. Quality of the basket does seem nice. I’m glad they have good customer service. Thule reviews seemed to not have good customer service for these types of issues. I’m happy to go with Yakima, as again they have excellent customer service. ... show more
