I loved that is rack can be configured to multiple lengths and that is it quite strong. Assembly was easy and you will want to recruit a friend to help you lift it onto your roof. Securing the rack was very straightforward and the impact on gas mileage was nominal. It does create some wind noise, but nothing concerning or irritating...after a few minutes we all just tuned it out and don't really notice any more. The Cargo nets work great, and because of the cage design, you can also use any bungee or strap in almost any configuration. Great roof rack, great price!

I just completed a 2 month 8,000 mile trip and the rack and bag performed exceptionally well. I had no issues with the rack at all and despite going through some torrential rains the bag never leaked once. The zipper with the velcro fold over performed exactly how I needed. Assembly wasn't difficult at all. Knowing I wanted it to last I did a few minor additions by adding some rust guard to the weld locations and applying some sealant to the joints and any openings. It also spray painted the panels to match the color of my jeep. This didn't take any extra time and added a nice little customization and protection. The whole thing came together easily and was up on the roof without trouble. Loading was a bit trickier due to the height but the bag fully unzipping around the edges with a heavy duty zipper made it pretty simple to get loaded. I routinely haul kayaks and canoes on the roof and am used to some noise gping down the highway, I was glad to hear that even at highway speeds the rack was quiet aside from some expected noises.

You get what you pay for. Works great, easy enough to install with 2 people. I bought one that was slightly too small for my car, but i managed to get it on with minor modifications. Make sure you get the right size, because you won't be able to buy an extension. Fuel mileage did go down about 3-5 mpg. Windnoise is a bit loud especially on the interstates and highways, but nothing that music can't drown out. I would suggest painting over it with some truck bed liner for additional weatherproofing. I bought mine last year and it has been on my car through the summer and winter weather. It is holding up pretty well, only a bit of rust on a screw that I forgot to paint.

This is a great large roof basket for someone who expects occasional use and doesn't mind a bit of wrangling during assembly. For the price, it's a great value, which is why I rate it 5 stars. Not recommended for someone who's looking for exacting fit/finish, or someone who's planning on leaving this on their crossbars full time due to rust potential. The good: * heavy duty construction, much better quality than other baskets I've seen in the price range * large size is perfect for my 2016 Kia Soul - when centered on the crossbars, the fairing is almost parallel with the windshield, and the rear is about 1-2" from the antenna. It basically takes up the entire roof, but that's exactly what I wanted. * great price The not so good: * assembly takes some work - it was better than I expected, actually, but the middle section was badly out of alignment with the rest of the basket and took some creative assembly to get it all to fit together. I also needed to use my dremel to extend one of the holes to fit one of the bolts. If you're not very handy and/or don't have access to anyone that can help, perhaps give this a miss. * rust - the quality of steel doesn't look so good, and I fully expect that any moisture on the interior will rust quickly. I used silicone caulking during assembly, and am hoping that it will last many seasons with some precautions. I would not expect this to last more than a year or two if left on full time, but for my use (about 4 weeks per year), I expect it to last about as long as my car. * poor directions, hardware doesn't exactly match up. The hardware bag is either missing 3 long screws, or has 3 too many plastic spacer tubes. Like the other reviews, you get enough to put it together, but hard to understand why they can't put in the appropriate number of fasteners. All in all, there are some serious issues, but you get way more than you pay for. Jut just be aware of the issues before making a purchase. One last note - it took me a while to figure out what the small plastic cylinder shaped pieces were (there were a total of six). They're not listed at all in the instructions/parts list. I realized that they were spacers to be inserted between the fairing and the fairing mount if you want space between the fairing and the frame of the basket. For example, if you install the fairing w/o the spacers and want to lash straps to the front of the basket, there's basically little to no room to attach anything. With the spacers, you get a little less than an inch gap, plenty for most straps or hooks. I only installed the ones on the top, as there were only three long bolts.

I put it on a 2012 Outback and I really love the look. Easy to install by yourself and took maybe an hour. The instructions for mounting could be a little clearer and black screws instead of silver would have made a huge difference in appearance.
