After reading the reviews i was a little nervous purchasing this. But i was also on limited time and I really needed a roof basket for a trip so i decided to purchase this Basket during the summer. And all honesty it was really easy to assemble there was a part where i needed my dads help because a hole was a little off, but it ended up connecting perfectly. Don't forget the saying you get what you pay for, so these do rust quicker than more expensive baskets(which surprisingly i have not seen rust on mine just yet)but I did spray mine down with a Rust protectant Spray before assembling! ... show more

price was OK - Reviewers gave more help gave more help than the instructions. To slide boxes, suitcases across the rack without getting stuck or torn by protruding threaded hardware, you need to NOT follow the instructions. Instead turn the threaded clamp upside down so it is BELOW the loadbearing surface. I painted over the chrome screws anywhere I saw two pieces of metal welded to close together I added black spray paint. It does increase noise somewhat but not unexpectedly. it's not something you want to take on and off. ... show more

I loved that is rack can be configured to multiple lengths and that is it quite strong. Assembly was easy and you will want to recruit a friend to help you lift it onto your roof. Securing the rack was very straightforward and the impact on gas mileage was nominal. It does create some wind noise, but nothing concerning or irritating...after a few minutes we all just tuned it out and don't really notice any more. The Cargo nets work great, and because of the cage design, you can also use any bungee or strap in almost any configuration. Great roof rack, great price! ... show more

    • Pretty simple to assemble and instal

It was pretty simple to instal just on some points the holes did't aline very well, but my. mon and I figured it out. We just did figure out were the rubber caps were supposed to go. I mounted the roof rack wrong the 1st time but after watching a tutorial on YouTube I put it back correctly.

Update: definitely take a hit to your MPG. Driving the Texas interstates at 70-80 mph I’ve seen a sip of about 4-5 mpg with this on my renegade. So I bought the 43 inch version for my 2019 jeep renegade. If you want to use the 43 inch you you will need to either place your aftermarket cross bars inside the mounting openings or you will need to order the 64 inch model if you wish to use the mounting holes on the jeep rack to mount your aftermarket crossbars. The instructions are horrible for this. I would highly recommend just YouTubing the install as there are several great guides out there. Rack fit the bright lines aftermarket crossbars well. If you do the 43 inch then you can buy another cross bar and mount a kayak j hook cradle onto it and strap a kayak in the cradle and strap the front of the kayak onto the basket for short trips. Overall for the price it’s a good quality rack. Rusting wasn’t much of a concern since we don’t have a ton of rain her in central texas. If you live in a wet climate then I would recommend getting some rust oleum or bedliner spray and coating it. Or you can always just take it off in the winter and clean it and treat it then. ... show more
