  • Perfect Travel Companion – Sturdy, Spacious, and Easy to Use!
Size: Medium Color: Black
I recently purchased the Thule Pulse M cargo box for a family road trip, and it exceeded all my expectations. First off, installation was a breeze. It took less than 10 minutes to mount it securely on my SUV's roof rack, and everything felt solid and stable from the get-go. The Pulse M offers the perfect amount of extra space for our gear. We packed two large suitcases, beach toys, golf clubs and a few smaller bags with room to spare. It's amazing how much it holds without feeling oversized or bulky. What really impressed me was how well it handled at highway speeds—no rattling, no excessive noise, and no noticeable impact on fuel efficiency. The aerodynamic design really makes a difference. The locking mechanism is secure and easy to use, giving me peace of mind when leaving the vehicle unattended. The single-side opening is super convenient and made loading and unloading simple, even in tight parking lots. Overall, this cargo box turned out to be an excellent investment. It's rugged, reliable, and has already made our travels so much more comfortable. If you're looking for a durable and stylish solution for extra storage, the Thule Pulse M is absolutely worth it! ... show more

  • I really love it!
Size: Large Color: Black
I've put this on my new 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid, I keep it on the vehicle full time. It's light enough to remove when not needed but storing it is an issue in my case. Driving around town at 50 mph and under I see no difference in fuel economy. Highway driving I can't give very accurate results since my vehicle is new and don't have very much pre-installation history. I did a 250 mile trip at 70-85 mph with heave AC use and got 34 mph, regular 50 mile trips at 60-75 with light or no AC use gets nets me 38-40 mpg. I've read concerns about it being flimsy and it is, that's where the light weight comes from. But once installed it takes on the sturdy feel of the crossbars it's attached to. The attachment assembly is very easy to use and seems to stay in place without much adjustment. I will say over a month or so, I have been able to get 1/8th of a turn or so out of each knob but what I do like is at a glance you can see the status of the attachments under the crossbars and know for a fact you're safe. I'm a "remove all doubt" kind of guy so I tie my unit down to the crossbars with 1/4" black nylon rope in a box/criss cross pattern just for that extra peace of mind that it's not going to take flight at 80 mph. Also, My crossbars are rated at 220lbs and this unit is rated at 110lbs, I suspect because of how the attachment devices are positioned in slits in the bottom and the potential for them to cut loose of those slits if there's too much weight in the box. My thought is that my tie down rope removes that possibility because it's secured to the crossbars, and assisting the boxes attachments in keep it on the car. It's water proof, Ive driven through heave rains AND regular car washes, not a drop of water get's in. The lock is a little sticky, just get a little tube of graphite as Thule recommends and that will take care of that. The locking assembly is tricky but it gives you the feeling of security when it does lock, and it's only finicky when locking, not unlocking. Make note of your key number.... 2 Spare keys and a master key are available on Amazon for $10, The hinges beat back and forth against the box when underway and empty, it's only noticeable when you have a sunroof / moonroof open. It's easily corrected by placing some adhesive backed foam at the touch-points on the inside of the box. I'm a success focused kind of person and as long as the fundamentals are in line with my expectations, I'm more than happy to work out a few small kinks to get full satisfaction out of my product. Having been through two cargo racks and two rooftop cargo bags before finding what I really wanted on top of my car, I can tell you I really love this cargo box. Thanks Thule ... show more

  • Update Review - Looks Great on 2019 Pathfinder - Thule Pulse M Cargo Box Update Review - Looks Great on 2019 Pathfinder - Thule Pulse M Cargo Box
Size: Medium Color: Black
Dec 6th, 2020 - (Needed a larger capacity box) I purchased: - Thule Pulse 614 Medium Cargo Box (Just bought a Thule Pulse 615 Large Cargo Box now - See below) - Installed on 2019 Nissan Pathfinder SL 4WD - OEM Roof Rails - Malone Aero Roof Rack Cross Bars w/ Locks - Thule 44" Air Screen (For Wind Noise - Does the job well & completes the look!) *Update* After a 10 hour road Trip from SoCal to Salt Lake City, UT I have returned the Medium cargo box and purchased a Large! With a family of 5... the medium box barely held 4 standard duffle bags and other misc. items. We made it there and back though! However, with that trip, I wish I had the Large cargo box. I just tested it with the 4 standard duffle and I can see that I am able to fit another standard duffle and misc. items. The box is well made, durable, and held up well during our trip. One thing I would like to mention, (don't make the same mistake as I did) I washed the car with the box, the night before and leave in freezing temps (LOL - Common sense, I didn't have it at the time); the tumbler and mechanisms of the lock froze shut. We had to wait until temps was above freezing to be able to open the box and store our items. All-in-all wind noise was minimal. It may have helped a lot that I have a Thule air screen as well. The clamps are well made and every time I stopped/rested on our trip, I checked the box every single time. And it did not budge one bit with the load inside. Very sturdy. Great form-factor and looks great on our vehicle too! The one sided opening didn't bother me at all, it only made it consistent and a habit to go to the passenger side to open the box. It's a must to get a step, really makes it easier to access the box up top. So, if you are looking to get one and need interior space, it is definitely worth the money. You may only take one trip a year, but it's one of those items that you'll need and becomes a necessity when the time comes to use it. ********************************************************************************************************************************** Nov 5th, 2020 (Used Box for Thanksgiving road trip to Utah) I bought the Thule Pulse M Cargo Box for my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. Amazon schedule delivery was spot on with the time of delivery. It came in a pretty big box. Luckily it's pretty light for the size and material it is made from. I installed the box with a Malone Aero Crossbar and Thule air screen fairing (44" w/ part #8702). The good... Its a good size cargo box. I tested fitted 4 travel duffle bags (30" L) and fit well and closes well. Pretty well made. Construction of the clamps and slots work well. It slides nicely in the slots of the cargo box. The rack was about 30.5" apart on the roof and it looks pretty good on the Pathfinder. I drove about 15 miles on the freeway and there was no wind noise heard and didn't make the vehicle feel any different. The bad... other than only one side opening (passenger side) so far, nothing at the moment really. It does what it needs it to do and that is create additional storage. I will be driving to Utah from California to see if it can handle the weather. The way the box is constructed, I would say it will do just fine. Fingers Crossed. ... show more

  • Its a good unit, a little on the expensive side. Not sure its worth $599 but it did well. Its a good unit, a little on the expensive side. Not sure its worth $599 but it did well.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I purchased this "used like new" for $474. I had previously missed out on the deal for $398 and I am still angry at myself for not purchasing the cart. I wouldn't pay $599 new for it. People all over the country buy these and use them one time, like myself So the good I like that it opens from the side. My buddies opens from the back and its a huge hassle. Can't reach anything. As you can see, I used a step to get it mounted, and we traveled with a small folding step stool to make it easier to pack the top. Because it has hinges down one side, and latches down the other, its more sturdy. The lock is in the center, but the latch side actually latches in three places. I liked this. Solid. The mounting system was very easy to use. There isn't a lot of parts. It will grab any oval / wing / square within its size capabilities. You shouldn't have any issues with that. It did the job well. I think I fit more items inside the cargo top than I could in our trunk. It really is the perfect size for a CX5. The bad (well, its not really that bad) When its empty, its pretty floppy and it rattles a lot. This is really thin plastic so it doesn't weigh a lot, but it also doesn't have much structure. When its full, its more rigid and there's no rattling or noise. So that's good. The only added noise was a little bit of wind noise when the sunroof shade is open. There's no weather strip or seal around it. There's about 2-3" of plastic that overhangs a lip. This doesn't seem to affect it too negatively, in the rain. There's plenty of free play so I might add some. So here's the bad bad - Its not completely water proof. The water seems to come in from the slot system in the bottom. Even in a light rain we got a little water inside. We had to drive home through tropical storm Ophelia. It was crazy. So we first put a couple towels down in the bottom of the cargo box. Then we bagged anything that went inside in black trash bags. I fit the stroller, a travel suit case, the bouncer, 2 diaper bags, 2 bags of toys, youth life jackets, youth "chair in a bag" and some beach accessories on the way home. It fits a lot. Our system worked good; the towels were pretty wet but everything else was relatively dry. In all, I would recommend this unit. Just don't pay $599 for it. Its a giant thing of plastic. It is significantly better than the ones my friends have. IDK why there's no weather stripping whatsoever. And it does get a little water in the bottom so be prepared for that. But it does add a huge, huge amount of space to the CX5. Like, I don't know how we'd even make the trip without it! If you like my writeup click helpful =) ... show more

  • One year of use and still going!
Size: Large Color: Black
Bought this for long trips as we have 3 kids and a dog -- so we need more space even though we have a large SUV. - Overall great product. Fits bags, sleeping bags, etc. Easy to set up. Light enough that I can easily take on/off the car though not sure my wife could. I'm not really sure why you would buy a more expensive one unless you needed a bigger size. Size is pretty much perfect for my family needs. - Latching onto the car roof rack is simple. Seems like it would fit any roof rack bars -- we tried it on our SUV standard ones and our aftermarket bars. Locks on and stays tight entire trip. For long trips I do tie it down too just in case because I am paranoid on fast highways with these things but its stayed perfectly tight so what Im doing is overkill -- but better safe than sorry. - Only real pain is trying to lock it. Its like there is a fine line between everything being too loose or too tight and then when I close and try to lock it, I have to lift up the lid and readjust. Not sure I've ever had one of these that made that easy but there has got to be a way haha. - I assume this will last forever and I'd say its a good in between model between the really cheap and really expensive ones. Makes that perfect for me. I didn't want to cheap out but also didn't need to spend $1200 either. - Finally I can fit this on my SUV and still fit my surfboards or slim cage next to it -- that was a goal of mine and it works with my 60" crossbars easily. ... show more

  • Great midrange rooftop cargo box for road trips or outdoor enthusiasts Great midrange rooftop cargo box for road trips or outdoor enthusiasts
Size: Medium Color: Black
This Thule Pulse M might be low key but it's amazing for short and long distance road trips. My wife and I bought this for our 7 day, +1000 mile road trip from California to Utah and it worked flawlessly when paired with our 2018 Subaru Forester. We were able to bring more than enough supplies for our us and our 16 month old. Some things we stored in the Thule were duffles, portable toilet, several pairs of hiking boots, blankets, trekking poles, and a baby carrier. Much of our supplies were stored in the Thule,as such it freed up much needed leg room and made the long distance trip more comfortable. I do enjoy the size of the Pulse M because it's not overly large but at the same time it's easy to mount / dismount by myself. This is a huge plus as other roof top cargo boxes might be challenging to moint/dismount due to weight or size. The interior is no frills but has a basic tie down points and claw that mounts to your roof bars. The container itself is very well weather sealed. On the drive back from Utah, we drove thru both rain and dust storm. When I arrived home, contents in the Thule were dry with little to no dust. Awesome! My only criticisms are the opening and closing. I wish Thule had a roof box this size and be able to open the roof box from either side. Currently the Thule pulse may only be opened from the passenger side. When driving with the roof box, it was very quiet even at highway speeds (+70 mph). At times I even forgot it was there. As with any roof box, expect a reduction in fuel economy of about 15-20%. Overall great product for road trips and I would recommend this for anyone who has a growing family. ... show more

  • Durable, good looking roof box. Durable, good looking roof box.
I've had this roof box for about 4 years now, maybe about a year of that time it was not installed. It's very secure on my roof rack with very simple clamps to attach. The included internal cargo straps could be better, but serve their purpose fine. The box does rattle a bit when empty, and the noise generated from it isn't terribly loud. I've never found actual water in the box, but dried out stains on occasion, so if it has been compromised I've never gotten any of my items wet or noticed it. I'm not a huge fan of the lock system it has, but it does work fine. If you haven't packed your items super well it can be frustrating to close and lock the box. The box feels a bit flimsy but I've yet to break or notice anything wrong with it when taking it on or off my car. For an entry level priced Thule, I'd say it could be a bit better for the money; but the next model up is hundreds more dollars. If you want a well-trusted roof box brand for a bit less money, this is a great option. ... show more

  • shipping nightmare, sub-par product design shipping nightmare, sub-par product design
Size: Medium Color: Black
Delivery was a week late despite the box being scanned in my city before the target date. Delivery was by *appointment*, but the carrier just left the box on our walkway, didn't bother to ring the doorbell (so why the appointment?). Box had visible damage, that corresponded with product damage (thankfully cosmetic, but still, for the money...). Even if none of that had happened, I'd probably still throw a 1-star rating here, because the product design/build is chintzy - thinner plastic than comparable Yakima products, and by design is not water-tight; to facilitate different mounting dimensions, there are long grooves cut in the bottom of the case that are "sealed" (not) with a couple strips of rubber. To make it fit on a Rivian roof top (where the crossbars have fixed mount points that are about an inch too far apart), I had to drill a hole and threw a rubber grommet in there that will likely be more water-tight than the rubber 'seals' on the mount grooves. Crossbar-mounted roof boxes have been on the market long enough, it's really disappointing to see attempts at making installation easier fall so far short, and from the overall apparent build quality, I'm not expecting this thing to last. For comparison, I have had a larger yakima rooftop box for 15+yrs, and apart from UV causing the clear coat to peel (annoying), the unit is still fully functional (is twice the size and cost half what this one did). Probably the most irksome aspect of this is there just aren't many options for shorter/wider boxes on the market, otherwise I'd be inclined to send this one back and get another (probably Yakima) box. ... show more
