  • One year of use and still going!
Size: Large Color: Black
Bought this for long trips as we have 3 kids and a dog -- so we need more space even though we have a large SUV. - Overall great product. Fits bags, sleeping bags, etc. Easy to set up. Light enough that I can easily take on/off the car though not sure my wife could. I'm not really sure why you would buy a more expensive one unless you needed a bigger size. Size is pretty much perfect for my family needs. - Latching onto the car roof rack is simple. Seems like it would fit any roof rack bars -- we tried it on our SUV standard ones and our aftermarket bars. Locks on and stays tight entire trip. For long trips I do tie it down too just in case because I am paranoid on fast highways with these things but its stayed perfectly tight so what Im doing is overkill -- but better safe than sorry. - Only real pain is trying to lock it. Its like there is a fine line between everything being too loose or too tight and then when I close and try to lock it, I have to lift up the lid and readjust. Not sure I've ever had one of these that made that easy but there has got to be a way haha. - I assume this will last forever and I'd say its a good in between model between the really cheap and really expensive ones. Makes that perfect for me. I didn't want to cheap out but also didn't need to spend $1200 either. - Finally I can fit this on my SUV and still fit my surfboards or slim cage next to it -- that was a goal of mine and it works with my 60" crossbars easily. ... show more

  • Perfect Travel Companion – Sturdy, Spacious, and Easy to Use!
Size: Medium Color: Black
I recently purchased the Thule Pulse M cargo box for a family road trip, and it exceeded all my expectations. First off, installation was a breeze. It took less than 10 minutes to mount it securely on my SUV's roof rack, and everything felt solid and stable from the get-go. The Pulse M offers the perfect amount of extra space for our gear. We packed two large suitcases, beach toys, golf clubs and a few smaller bags with room to spare. It's amazing how much it holds without feeling oversized or bulky. What really impressed me was how well it handled at highway speeds—no rattling, no excessive noise, and no noticeable impact on fuel efficiency. The aerodynamic design really makes a difference. The locking mechanism is secure and easy to use, giving me peace of mind when leaving the vehicle unattended. The single-side opening is super convenient and made loading and unloading simple, even in tight parking lots. Overall, this cargo box turned out to be an excellent investment. It's rugged, reliable, and has already made our travels so much more comfortable. If you're looking for a durable and stylish solution for extra storage, the Thule Pulse M is absolutely worth it! ... show more

  • Great midrange rooftop cargo box for road trips or outdoor enthusiasts
Size: Medium Color: Black
This Thule Pulse M might be low key but it's amazing for short and long distance road trips. My wife and I bought this for our 7 day, +1000 mile road trip from California to Utah and it worked flawlessly when paired with our 2018 Subaru Forester. We were able to bring more than enough supplies for our us and our 16 month old. Some things we stored in the Thule were duffles, portable toilet, several pairs of hiking boots, blankets, trekking poles, and a baby carrier. Much of our supplies were stored in the Thule,as such it freed up much needed leg room and made the long distance trip more comfortable. I do enjoy the size of the Pulse M because it's not overly large but at the same time it's easy to mount / dismount by myself. This is a huge plus as other roof top cargo boxes might be challenging to moint/dismount due to weight or size. The interior is no frills but has a basic tie down points and claw that mounts to your roof bars. The container itself is very well weather sealed. On the drive back from Utah, we drove thru both rain and dust storm. When I arrived home, contents in the Thule were dry with little to no dust. Awesome! My only criticisms are the opening and closing. I wish Thule had a roof box this size and be able to open the roof box from either side. Currently the Thule pulse may only be opened from the passenger side. When driving with the roof box, it was very quiet even at highway speeds (+70 mph). At times I even forgot it was there. As with any roof box, expect a reduction in fuel economy of about 15-20%. Overall great product for road trips and I would recommend this for anyone who has a growing family. ... show more

  • Its a good unit, a little on the expensive side. Not sure its worth $599 but it did well.
Size: Medium Color: Black
I purchased this "used like new" for $474. I had previously missed out on the deal for $398 and I am still angry at myself for not purchasing the cart. I wouldn't pay $599 new for it. People all over the country buy these and use them one time, like myself So the good I like that it opens from the side. My buddies opens from the back and its a huge hassle. Can't reach anything. As you can see, I used a step to get it mounted, and we traveled with a small folding step stool to make it easier to pack the top. Because it has hinges down one side, and latches down the other, its more sturdy. The lock is in the center, but the latch side actually latches in three places. I liked this. Solid. The mounting system was very easy to use. There isn't a lot of parts. It will grab any oval / wing / square within its size capabilities. You shouldn't have any issues with that. It did the job well. I think I fit more items inside the cargo top than I could in our trunk. It really is the perfect size for a CX5. The bad (well, its not really that bad) When its empty, its pretty floppy and it rattles a lot. This is really thin plastic so it doesn't weigh a lot, but it also doesn't have much structure. When its full, its more rigid and there's no rattling or noise. So that's good. The only added noise was a little bit of wind noise when the sunroof shade is open. There's no weather strip or seal around it. There's about 2-3" of plastic that overhangs a lip. This doesn't seem to affect it too negatively, in the rain. There's plenty of free play so I might add some. So here's the bad bad - Its not completely water proof. The water seems to come in from the slot system in the bottom. Even in a light rain we got a little water inside. We had to drive home through tropical storm Ophelia. It was crazy. So we first put a couple towels down in the bottom of the cargo box. Then we bagged anything that went inside in black trash bags. I fit the stroller, a travel suit case, the bouncer, 2 diaper bags, 2 bags of toys, youth life jackets, youth "chair in a bag" and some beach accessories on the way home. It fits a lot. Our system worked good; the towels were pretty wet but everything else was relatively dry. In all, I would recommend this unit. Just don't pay $599 for it. Its a giant thing of plastic. It is significantly better than the ones my friends have. IDK why there's no weather stripping whatsoever. And it does get a little water in the bottom so be prepared for that. But it does add a huge, huge amount of space to the CX5. Like, I don't know how we'd even make the trip without it! If you like my writeup click helpful =) ... show more

  • You pay for what you get.
Size: Large Color: Black
I shopped everywhere for this thing, the price is the same no matter where you look, but amazon had free shipping. This thing is big, and comes in a huge box. Thule is the one you want, don’t get a cheaper, lower quality one. It attached to the roof of our Acadia perfectly. The clamps go on and it’s done. It holds a ton of stuff, and it’s waterproof, with a very nice lock and key. And it looks sharp. We bought it for a beach vacation, as our Acadia is running out of room on the inside with 3 kids. We drove it 2 hours to the beach, in the rain. I was nervous. But you would have never known it was on top of the car, and all of our stuff was 100% dry. This thing met all my expectations. If I had to name some negatives, I would say attaching and removing this thing from the car is a little tough because it only opens from the passenger side. You have to really get up on the roof to secure the clamps on the driver side. I just used a step ladder, it was pretty simple. It weighs about 30 pounds, so one person can move it, but it’s a little bulky. Thule is a more expensive brand, but sometimes it is worth it. This is an example of you pay for what you get. If you want 100% confidence with your stuff on top of your car driving 70mph down the highway, this is your roof top cargo box. Can’t say enough good things about it. It was a big purchase for us and we were not disappointed. Very satisfied and highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great product! Highly Recommend
Size: Medium Color: Black
I love this Thule cargo box! It has far exceeded my expectations. I've had it for about a year and a half and taken it on multiple trips totaling almost 4k miles. It's gone through 30+ mph wind gusts, rain, ice, and snow storms and still seems brand new (minus the bugs on the front). As a single female, I was worried how easy it would be to take on and off by myself but it's light weight that I have no issues. Sometimes I have to wiggle the key to get it in the lock, but after using is so many times it's barely an issue. I do notice a bit of water can get inside depending on the rain and wind. However, it's very minimal and has never caused my items to get wet. There is a small decrease to my fuel mileage when I travel with it, but most of the time I forget it's even there. No excessive noise or swaying. I did purchase a step that connects to the door latch which makes it very easy to access. This eliminates having to take up space with a step stool. Great product! Highly recommend! ... show more

  • A must for road trips.
Not sure why the shiny version was so much cheaper then the matte version but i jumped on the deal. Absolutely love this thing. In a modern medium sized SUV with kids, there is not much room for the rest of your luggage. This is especially true if you have a baby who needs special stuff like a stroller, sleeping system, etc. The construction feels pretty flimsy but that at least makes it light enough that I can take it on and off the vehicle by myself. I've seen them last a long time so I am not really worried. The Thule 615 Pulse Rack, Large fits on top of my '18 RAV4 with no over hanging front or back. It even fits off to one side allowing my to bring a large cooler, storage tubs, water, etc on the other side of the rack. Before we had this thing we had to stick the dog in the kennel during our trips. Now we have enough room to bring him with us. Anytime we go camping or on a road trip, this thing is definitely coming with us. One complaint is if you leave it on the car at all times, its loud. If its full and something inside is compressed when it closes, it keeps it from rattling but when its empty hitting bumps, driving into wind, etc will cause it to make a ruckus on top of your car. My recommendation is to have a place to store it when not in use. ... show more

  • Locking mechanism does not last
Size: Large Color: Black
Just an update. After completing the warantee process, I was informed that Thule only sells and refunds the locking mechanism. I received an official email saying that they were happy to send me a replacement key and lock which I will need to find somebody to remove the old one and install the new one. Thule reported that they don’t warantee, or stand by the actual cargo carrier. I relied to the email, saying that Thule can keep their substandard lock, as I don’t trust it, and wouldn’t take it anywhere. The lock still arrived in the mail about 2 days later. Just to recap : Thule agreed that the locking warantee and product was valid. Thule only sells and stands by the locking mechanism. Thule will send you a replacement POS lock and key if their product falls apart. Even if you ask them not to. Must be a liability issue. Product misleading. They only sell locks. ———————————————————- Used this twice. The only complaint was a sticky key locking mechanism. Midway during third use the key actually broke off in the lock 300 miles from home. We were in a tight spot, far from home with a dangerous and unsafe roof top storage. The locking mechanism is the problem, and unfortunately it’s not meant to last. You would be far better not taking anything at all. Hopefully they are making the keys and lock safer. Three uses in 2 months is not a safe thing to sell for highway travel. I am notifying Amazon, Thule, and Credit Card services to see if anyone has options to fix or replace, and will update this review with the response I hear. So far, Amazon robot only provides the opportunity to write a review, not return. This is Day 1. ... show more
