  • Yakima Forklift - Strong/Sturdy bike carrier
Color: One Color Size: One Size
I have 2 of these mounted on the factory crossbars of my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Once you tighten them down, they aren't going ANYWHERE! (except wherever your car goes...) As I'm sure other people have mentioned, make sure to put the end cap on, otherwise the rear wheel holder will fall off when you don't have a bike strapped down. Also, be sure to ratchet the rear wheel strap in even if you do not have a bike mounted! I made this mistake, and drove to work with it not in the ratchet. By the time I got there the strap was gone and had to order a new one. ($8) I have a total of about 15hours with 2 bikes/racks (Trek FX7.5 and Specialized Sirrus Sport) on the top of my car and never once felt edgy thinking they were unstable. Been on the interstate with 35mph winds going 75mph and the bikes hardly vibrated or shook. Very easy to tighten the bikes down. The front locking skewer is tougher to get the right tightness at first but after a few times doing it it's very easy. The back wheel just ratchet straps in... super easy! Quality is superb!!! Locking skewer is stainless steel and all of the plastic is of very nice strong quality. The aluminum rail is also very nice. Both the front and rear crossbar holders have adjustable mounting positions to fit any size of crossbar. I would definitely recommend getting the SKS locks just for the peace of mind that when you leave your bikes/car for awhile they are locked to your car. Plus if your spending $200+ on a couple racks, what's an extra $20 for locks?? If you have factory crossbars on your vehicle there is no doubt this is the best rack for your bike! ... show more

  • Perfect for factory crossbars on 2015 Subaru
Color: One Color Size: One Size
I just installed and mounted my bike. All works perfectly. I mounted this on a 2015 Subaru Outback, using the car's existing crossbars (the ones that can be tucked away). Very easy installation (though I suggesting watching the videos on YouTube and Yakima's site--they're better than the written instructions for seeing the installation in 3D). The rack is the perfect one for the aero-shaped factory crossbars. The adjustmants possible (moving the jaws up or down, etc.) made it fit snugly and easily. Because the crossbars are so low to the roof, it paid to put down towels to protect the roof and it also meant that it was tight working with the toggle bolt since I have big hands, but loosening it enough to move freely made that part pretty easy too. One suggestion for anyone with the same car: mount the bike backward (rear wheel forward on car); that will mean that the bike/rack is completely out of the way of the hatch. All in all, I'm very happy that I found these instead of trying to adapt my old system to the car. This looks a lot more streamlined and elegant. ... show more

  • Yakima Fork Lift bike rack for factory rack works excellent
Color: One Color Size: One Size
This rack installed easily and after a few trips seems very solid. They (I have two) are easy to load and unload. The front fork open and close clamp adjusts easily and locks down well with very little adjustment necessary secure feel once you have it installed. Installation was simple with little or no tools. The rear tire ratcheting also works well and releases easily. This rack is very adjustable for just about any bike length with maybe the exception of the smallest. It was a very good way to free up my hitch mount for our new camper. I am impressed with the quality of the materials and construction to this point although it is still early on. I would give 5 stars but i feel like Yakima or someone should add something to these trays to stabilize the bike while you lock it down. Especially for those of us with full size SUV. I end up holding the bike with one hand, locking it down with the other, and trying to balance long enough on the running boards without dropping the bike. It seems like an easy thing to remedy. ... show more

  • Excellent Roof Rack for 08 Outback
Color: One Color Size: One Size
Great bike rack for my 2008 Subaru Outback. Perfectly compatible with the stock Aero crossbars that came with my car. Really easy setup and I was able to get going right away. I think these are the same as the Subaru-branded ones you would get from a dealership, but significantly cheaper. Another nice feature, at least on the Outback, is that the bars can hold a bike and not impede opening the back door of the wagon - this was a huge selling point for us because we didn't have a hitch for a hitch mount and we still wanted to be able to access the back of the car without issue. I bought two so I could carry my wife's bike as well, with no issues. The only thing that's kind of weird about the setup is when they are mounted to the Aero bars they don't stand straight up (ie perpendicular to the ground), they lean outwards a bit. Just a small amount, but noticeable head-on. Just a minor appearance issue, but doesn't detract from the functionality of the mount. ... show more

  • Excellent bike roof rack
Color: One Color Size: One Size
I got one of these for my bike two years ago and just bought another one for my wife's bike. It's relatively easy to install, is solid as a rock, and really holds the bike in place. As with many roof racks, getting the bike onto and off of the rack can be challenging for short people or those who have modest upper body strength. I try to park on the street where I can use the curb to get me several inches closer. But overall this is an excellent rack and is also well priced compared to others (which is why I bought another one rather than a different model). Recommended! ... show more

  • Time to Go Bike
Color: One Color Size: One Size
Why spend more money for those adaptors and other stuff that add to the price. If you already have a factory roof rack, you are ready to bike. This attached perfectly to my factory roof rack (2000 toyota 4runner) and holds strong with all of its tightening latches. The best thing is that my bro can use it with his car because it adapts to most factory roof racks. So why spend 300+ bucks to get the bike rack, adapter, and locks when all you need is fork mount, easy install roof rack. Could not find the lock that comes with this one (though I know it is capable of a lock) but honestly with how fast and easy it is to remove the rack, there is no need to lock it to your roof, just throw it in the back. Love it, and I would buy it again and again ... show more
