Strange thing about the PUMP, during start up of pump water dripped from pump housing. So I snugged housing screws. Helped some. Ran system over a cycle and and next day cycle all was great no leaks. It is working great. Now just needs to last.

I recently purchased a pool pump and filter system with high hopes of keeping my pool crystal clear and pristine throughout the swimming season. Unfortunately, my experience with this product has been quite disappointing. Upon arrival, I discovered that the unit had a broken piece, rendering it unusable. However, to their credit, the seller promptly replaced the broken piece with a whole new unit. Initially, I was impressed by their responsiveness and commitment to customer satisfaction. However, my optimism quickly faded when the replacement unit ceased to function after just three weeks of use. Despite my best efforts to troubleshoot and resolve the issue, the pump and filter simply refused to work properly. This sudden failure left me frustrated and disheartened, especially considering the time and money invested in the product. While it's true that this pump and filter system comes at a relatively affordable price point, it's clear that quality and durability were sacrificed in the pursuit of cost-effectiveness. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for," and in this case, the adage rings true. I would caution potential buyers against wasting their time and resources on this product, as it ultimately failed to deliver on its promises. Read the reviews and trust when it says the fuses go out. We even tried to repair the unit by replacing the fuse and it blew right away. Then to make it worse, the only way to get a refund was to dump the 100 pounds of sand out of the filter and pack the entire unit up and send it back to Amazon. Mind you, the orginial packaging was tossed out when the unit was set up. It was a very frustrating experience.

I got it for my 16’ 4700gal above ground pool that came with a wimpy pump. Everyone is right about saying that the directions don’t give you a simple explanation on how to hook it up. But once I got everything working this pump kicked butt! The photos I’ll post are 20hrs apart, cleaned up the water super quick and efficiently!

The product manufacture provided hoses, gaskets and fittings to connect the sand filter to your pool. Even though it provided a 2" hose connection to the skimmer and the pool return inlet, the pool fittings did not have enough threats to connect the hoses tightly. So I bought a 4 pack of PVC hex 1 1/2" threaded nipple tube adapters (they fitted directly to my pool fittings) to connect two PVC 1 1/2" ball valves with a 2" X 1 1/2" bushing to connect the filter inlet and outlet hose connections. I used plenty of Teflon tape (5 to 6 turns) to ensure that there were no leaks along with using hand wrenches to connect the hoses tightly. The hoses have threaded ends and flanged so they have to tightened without any gaps otherwise they will leak. The pump did come in slightly damaged. There are four screws that connect the pump cover and someone (not me) had tighten the pump cover screws too tightly which cracked two of the cover ends. I reported this to the product manufacturer and they provided me with a new exact cover plate that included all the electronic components along with it. The connection is a plug and play so it was easy to replace. I did use the 1.54 LBS filter balls medium in instead of using sand which cleaned the pool but kept the pool water cloudy. After two weeks, I changed the pool medium to sand and within two days the water was crystal clear. This filter is so easy to maintain. I have it set for twelves hours. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Be forewarned that the instructions that come with this pump are completely inadequate. The parts listing is a rough sketch, and there are 2 sets of instructions; one for the pump tank and one for the motor. The tank instructions mention a glass view port. There is none. The motor instructions shows you how to turn the switch on and off. There is no switch. I turn it on by plugging it in. It shows you how to read the pressure gauge so you'll know when you need to backwash. Guess what? The pressure gauge does not work. I would have returned it and gotten another model, but I was desperate to make the water flow in my pool. My last pump got a crack in it and started leaking. Algae was growing like fascism and I had to wait several days for delivery. Once I got it figured out and connected, it seemed to work better that the old pump, but that's not saying much. I had to Google how to backwash because the first time I tried it, the pump blew chunks of debris into the pool as soon as I turned it on. Over time, the flow has seemed to decrease a bit. I'd love to prove that, but without a working pressure gauge, well... Note that this model comes with filter balls, not sand. I don't know if this is better or not. Mind you, I had a lot of algae to clean out. I've had to clean the filter balls twice now. It's very time-consuming to clean them well by spraying them off individually with a hose. I'd guess about 2 hours. It was maybe 150 balls. The next time, I got wise and filled an old cooler with water and filter cleaner spray, poured from the bottle. I put the balls in there and filled a separate rinse bucket with water. Swish them around and spray with the hose if necessary. I set up a chair in the shade and wasn't too bad. Overall, I would have rated this much lower (and would have returned it), but I was in dire straits and it turned out to be a slight improvement to my old, broken pump. Save yourself some time and frustration and get a better model. Better yet, buy an ionizer. That cleared my water much quicker than this pump.

Day 2 with it and it’s clearing my pool. So much more powerful. 22x52 pool. Easy to set up by looking for videos online. Instructions aren’t great. It’s so good I ordered another for my brother.
