We have a square best way 10 foot by 6 foot 3 foot deep pool. We had some pretty crappy weather here in Pennsylvania in the month of June. The pool was covered a lot with a tarp because we had a lot of 70s temperatures with a lot of rain. When we went to take the cover off of the pool, the one day, the water smelled, was aqua colored, and mosquito larva had infested it swimming all around. It was gross and the pool was unswimmable. We went that day and got pool chemicals and doused the water and bugs. Chlorine, shock, and algicide. We had an upgraded larger paper filter, filter on our pool. (Also bought from Amazon) After days of having it running and putting the chemicals in the pool it still was not clean or clear. It turned more bluish, but you could not see through it all and it still smelled like a pond. We then went and got clarifier. We ended up putting clarifier in the pool two different times because the pool still was not clear and looked milky and foggy. We thought we were going to end up having to drain the pool after a few weeks of not being able to get it back to normal. We kept adding chlorine every couple of days to try to correct the smelly aqua tinted water. Although all the bugs eventually did die and disappear. My daughter was upset because I wouldn't let her swim in it. Lol We needed a solution. I started searching online for a solution and read that we may need a stronger, pool filter or a sand filter, and that the water may not be getting enough filtration or circulation. I came onto Amazon and bought this sand filter. It took my husband a couple of hours to get it hooked up properly and put together. We let it run all night and checked the pool the very next morning and it was already 1000 times better. The next day after that the pool was blue and clear again!! Finally swimable!! had went through so many headaches within about three weeks to try to get our pool back to normal and apparently all we had to do was buy a small sand filter. It has been working perfect, and has a great amount of power for our pool. If something ends up happening with it, I will update my review but so far it has been great for us!! Amazing pump for our 14x48 pool. Then again anything is better than the stock pump that comes with above ground pools. It’s runs great, it’s easy to use and it’s super quiet. My only issue with this pump was how the instructions are complete garbage. One of the biggest issues I ran into was when you install the drain on the sand tank. Says to hand tighten if I’m not mistaken. Did just that and got sand and in it and everything hooked up then went to fire it up and water was leaking out of it. Ended ip having to dump out the sand and spend another 20 bucks and another 50 lb bag and in the process use a wrench to tighten up the spout as much as I could…. No issues with it now. The other thing is the instructions don’t mention what to do with the smaller o-rings that go with the plastic screws that get hooked to the pump and tank. Wish they would go and revise the instructions because for something that is almost 200 dollars and your pool depends on it the instructions should be thorough. ... show more

This has really worked out for me, so far, I have only had for a month and it’s really kept the pool clear - it’s a 3500 gal above ground pool, I just kept buying more and more chemicals to keep the pool clear with the little pump that came with the pool. I researched this product and others and decided to go with this one - I was a little upset at first because I’m the narrative that “this is all you need for the sand filter everything included” well it didn’t come with sand so get that through Amazon was double the cost as uposed to Home Depot but our Home Depot doesn’t sell it. Anyway I have been very happy with it- I just had to UTube video for easier set up than instruction were not so clear. I would recommend this product ... show more

We have a 1200 gallon above ground pool and the filter pump it came with was seemingly not up to the task. Decided to spring for this, not disappointed. It leaks a little but stays at pressure. It also cleans our pool extremely well.

The pump is fairly quiet. Filter works well. No switch for pump. You will have to purchase separate. Sand is separate purchase also. No cap for backwash port. Wish they sold extra hose. The ones supplied with weren't long enough.

Filter works great no problems had it running for over 24 hours one day and never had a problem with it yet. Now I run it for about 2 hours a day except on rainy days.

The media could not be loaded. Great product, works way better than I expected. Water is I would have given it 5 stars but it states “complete system” yet they buried the part about “sand not included” in the description… that should be noted in a larger font and easier to spot. No big deal, I went to Home Depot and got a 50lb bag for $20…. Just would have liked to get it before hand. For anyone who said it leaks, the instructions missed a step about the putting on the rubber o-rings, if you did that and it was still leaking then you need to tighten it more or learn how to use hose clamps. Overall I’m very happy with this filter as you can see, in my photos it clears the haze in just a few hours depending on size of your pool. 14x8.5x39 works amazing!! ... show more

I still have to pool out dirt that settles on the ground but this pump does it’s job!! It keeps the water nice and clean and I love I don’t have buy filters anymore.
