  • Works awesome for an intex spa (with DIY plumbing)
Size: 1,000 Gallons Per Hour Pattern Name: Filter Pump
The pump unit for Intex inflatable spas contains the filtration pump, an electric heater, and a blower motor for bubbles and inflation. I've been heating our spa with a DIY propane contraption since new, and we never really use bubbles, so when the electronics died recently, I decided to replace the whole unit with DIY, including this for the filtration and heating loop. I had to DIY some 3D printed plumbing adapters to hook everything up, but this pump is great. It keeps the tub SO much cleaner than the OEM module, and the timer function is perfect for set-it-and-forget-it couple hours a day scheduling. I have a custom controller to run everything, and conveniently the timer resets every time the unit is unplugged, so it doesn't get in the way of that AND provides a safety backup if for some reason my controller gets stuck ON in that it'll only run max 2h/day (settable to 2/4/6/8h). Also, it pushes water through a solar heating mat perfectly, which seems to do a great job heating the tub for free whenever the sun's available. Finally, since many have asked but none have answered: it draws about 100W in my setup, where the OEM pump drew about 50. This will probably depend on your exact plumbing but mine didn't change much when adding the solar mat. ... show more

  • If you have hard water or iron issues BUY THIS works great on small pool
Size: 1,500 Gallons Per Hour Pattern Name: Filter Pump
Learn from my mistakes, don't waste all your time & money this summer. Here is how I cleared my brown iron infested pool up in just 3 days! We decided to attempt to set up a pool again this year & I forgot how tedious the whole process is, but this filter ended up being a savior! I decided to start small and ordered the 8ft intex pool from Target (99$) & although it claimed it came with a filter pump it didn't. I figured it was a small pool so I could get away with a small pump so I ordered an off brand 330 pump ($79). We have a septic water system so our water is full of iron thusly when we filled the pool it was super cloudy and murky. I hooked up the small filter and ran it for 10 days straight, cleaning out the cartridge daily and adding chemicals constantly...the water was slightly better but still very cloudy and brown (see 1st picture) and the iron particles that would settle on the bottom were too fine to vaccum up. After doing some research & reading a ton of reviews I decided to buy this filter. I knew from the reviews I needed to buy the adapters since I have a smaller pool, I got them for $16 here on Amazon. I read the gasket is not necessary & since it was a $60+ part I decided to hold off on that. While it works great without it it enables you to turn the water flow off for pump maintenance so it is helpful, I think eventually I will be getting one. The adapters are 100% necessary as the fittings are larger than the pool. So the filter & adapters came in just 2 days. It was super easy to install, took me like 30 minutes to do myself. If you're like me and super new to pools intex has some videos on YouTube that help a lot! I will admit the dual suction threw me off since the smaller filter only had 1 intake 1 output. Initially I installed it backwards & had 2 output hoses and 1 intake hose. The next day I realized my mistake and switched the hoses to 2 intake and 1 output. But, it still worked well that first night, that's how amazing this filter is. Being that my pool is so small this filter is super powerful!! The suction power is amazing & the output comes out like a hot tub. That old small pump didn't even move the water around, this one actually circulates it. If you're like me and have hard water or iron issues Google "pool sock method". I filled socks with pillow stuffing and zip tied them to the output hose than rinsed them clean a few times a day. The helped to collect those tiny stubborn iron particles. After the 1st night of running this filter the water was 80% clear (see 2nd picture). I was pleasantly surprised!! I continued using the pool socks and shocked the water the next day & it was 90% clear (see 3rd picture). After a few days of maintenance, chemicals and the occasional vaccum (I have one of those cheap pool vacs that hook up to a garden hose), I went outside to find the water 100% crystal clear!!!!! Literally all the iron particles GONE!!! Since it was super hot here last week the water feels amazing!! I feel like I finally conquered my greatest challenge yet...the brown pool water, and I owe it all to this filter!!! Yes it was a little more than I initially wanted to spend for a little pool, but it was SO worth it! I wish someone would have told me that before I wasted money on a subpar filter & weeks of having a brown pool no one could swim in!! Now that I have this amazing filter and know it works so well I plan on upgrading to the 12ft poolnext year... I just have to level out the ground better... (if you haven't put your pool up yet, LEVEL THE GROUND 1ST it really matters). But for now we are LOVING our little pool paradise. So if you have a small pump the upgrade is 1000% WORTH IT! ... show more

  • 2500 GPH Intex Pump
Size: 2,500 Gallons Per Hour Pattern Name: Filter Pump
I was able to get this pump on Amazon for $85 when the price had dropped. I upgraded this to my existing 15' X 48" intex Pool. I had to cut out the existing 1-1/4" holes CAREFULLY to 1-1/2" holes to attach the enlarged drainer and output valves. The system comes with 2 1-1/2" hoses and 2 PLUNGERS! For extra precaution, I dropped the water level to under both holes in the liner and used waterproof silicone when attaching the new fittings to the cut holes and have had no problems at all. After a couple of days to allow the silicone to set, I filled up the pool and no leaks. PERFECT! The plungers are awesome in that I don't get wet anymore when cleaning the filter. Being included is an AWESOME bonus. I upgraded from a 1000 GPH pump that burned out the second week I had it. The extra flow of water has kept my pool crystal clear. It really moves the water and produces a strong current. Up to now, I have no complaints and it is an EXCELLENT upgrade. A+ INTEX! UPDATE: (DETAILED EXPLANATION ON CUTTING THE LINER ON AN INTEX POOL FOR UPGRADE) Because I've been asked a few times, I went ahead and wrote a step by step on how to cut the liner on a smaller Intex pool to attach the valves and hoses when upgrading to the 2500 GPH pump. So for whoever needs more detail on how I installed the valves, heres a more detailed explanation: The first thing you have to do is drop the water level about a foot under the lower second hole in the liner. The 2500 gph pump set includes the strainer head, the water output head, two valve sets, two plungers, two rubber gaskets for the valves, two hoses, gasket rings for the hoses, filter, and the pump. To cut the liner, CAREFULLY cut a larger hole around the existing black tubed holes. Use the new valve diameter (1 1/2") as a guide when cutting. Be sure to not cut the hole too large or too small. If it is too small, youll probably see that the liner stretches too tightly around the threads of the new valve set. Make sure that the liner DOES NOT cover any part of the threads. The first time I did it, the liner was too tight on the threads of the new valve set and even after screwing it on with the gasket tightly, the lifted liner on the threads created a gap enough for water to spill out. After re-dropping the water level, I cut the liner slightly larger so that it layed flat on the surface that it makes contact with on the valve, not touching the threads. I purchased high quality waterproof clear silicone as an extra precaution and added a line of it to the INNER part of the valve (which goes inside the pool), then I put the gasket on that inner part, then I put another line of silicone on the rubber gasket, then I stuck the threaded end through the liner, and then added another line of silicone to the ring that spins on to tighten both ends of the valve together tightly with the liner pressed in between. It may be overkill but I'd rather be safe than sorry. To recap, from the inside of the pool out, its the inner valve piece, silicone, the rubber gasket, silicone, sticking the threaded part through the liner, silicone, then the tightening ring. Do these steps twice for both valves on the pool liner (the input and output). Let the silicone cure for at least three days before proceeding to the next step. Trust me you want to wait even though it seems like forever. The first time I did it the silicone wasnt fully cured and it fell apart when I filled the pool back up and water had contact with it. After those three days, then screw on the plungers to the valves, attach the hoses to the plungers then attach them to the pump. There are rubber gasket rings for the hoses that have to be placed right, so just be weary of that minor detail. Fill the pool up and hit the switch on the pump. I wish I had a guide the first time I did it lol. ... show more
