  • This printer while exceptional in quality is not designed or meant for the home
Style: Printer
The Xerox WorkCentre 6515 DNI is on heck of a printer! That is until you try to set it up for all your functions. Out of the box it's beautiful, well designed, and heavy. Depending on your setup and what you actually want to use it for, it can be very easy or very, very, very difficult. I first set it up, plugged in a USB cable, followed the directions, installed the software -- bam! I was printing to my hearts content. Color is impressive, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. I then tried to set it up with my network via the WiFi. The pain began. Setting this up through the control panel on the panel is a pain and painfully slow. I tried and tried to set it up and finally had to settle on the WiFi button process. No huge deal in and of itself but I shouldn't have had to stumble around to find that work around. So now I have it printing via USB and WiFi, Great! Right? Well not really. The literature on line tells you that it is best to have the printer hooked to your network via an Ethernet cable to your router so that you can then share it with other computers. Okay, no big deal! I plug in the Ethernet cable and unplug the USB port and now the nightmares begin. Waking the printer up to actually print becomes a problem. Getting the printer to work with dynamically assigned IP addresses is a problem. I spent several days working out these bugs. In that process I became very familiar with having to log in via the computer to the printers IP address to get to its control panel via the internet in order to go through a lot of settings and set up issues. Even at this point I have still not gotten the fax to work properly at all. Along the way to get the scanner to work, after many tries to get it to scan to a folder on my computer. I called tech support, only to find out, that A. I must set up a log-in to my computer; and B. I must also set up a log-in to the printer. What a freaking pain in the rump for a family computer. Now my children have to log-in via "1234." ... show more

  • Good utility printer!
Style: Printer
Update: After finding out they cannot reset the password they had to send me a replacement printer. Luckily it was new and not a refurb. Had to call in to get technical assistance so the password thing is not a problem again and it's all set up now. However, no scanning software is provided so you have to pay to get one or find a freebie off the internet. Works fine but wish they would have provided this type of information up front so you could have decided prior to purchase. Initial experience comments: Thought Xerox was a great product but will not install scanner software right away so this is a boat anchor! East coast tech support impossible to find. Downloaded firmware update but "zero" instructions on how to install it. Logged onto printer with IP address in browser but wants an Admin login and password.... Never gave or asked for one so wtf?! Can't do anything without Xerox input and I am a high-end computer user with multiple programs and programming under my belt. I even configured computers. Absolutely incensed at this moment! Website is pure crap to navigate for assistance! Unbelievable! Anyone should be able to install their crap without special knowledge or assistance! Mad as hell right now! ... show more

  • Xerox knows how to do printers right!
Style: Printer
Great printer. We have owned HP and Dell printers in the past, but this unit is head and shoulder above them. It's a multi-function device; we use scanning, copying and printing functions often. It can send faxes too, but that is a defunct technology nowadays. We have had zero paper jams so far. The printer interface and the remote software interface are intelligently designed and are feature rich. I love to see Xerox license their software to other printer manufacturers and make it an industry standard. Its print quality is consistent and high, and uses very little ink. Repeat buyer. ... show more

  • which has gotten very good reviews. This one can do duplex scanning
Style: Printer
This is a "fancier" version of the 3335, which has gotten very good reviews. This one can do duplex scanning, whereas the 3335 can only scan one side at a time. This MFD replaced a Canon MFD whose fuser died within a year of purchase ... just outside the warranty of course. :/ It has a very advanced user interface, but is easy to set up and connect via USB or LAN. It can easily save documents to your local computer or to a network file server, which makes it a perfect solution for small business. You can also store email addresses for quick scan-to-email. The unit has GREAT printouts - greys are vibrant and dark. Keep in mind that this is a MONOCHROME printer. Don't expect it to print in color, because that's not its intended use. The only cons I can offer (and they're more annoying than anything else) is that the unit prompts you to tell it what you're putting into it when you use the bypass feeder or you replenish the paper in the main tray. If you try to print using a media that doesn't match your computer document, the printer won't be happy and will inform you that there is a mismatch. The printer lacks the ability to store custom paper sizes. For example, we use a lot of 6x9 envelopes. If you feed 6x9 envelopes in the printer time after time, the printer will remember the last media inserted. But if you change to a different media and print a job, and then return to your previous media, you have to tell the printer the size of the media you're inserting if it's not a size that's already programmed in the printer. It would be nice if you could store a custom media size for quick selection, but that's not an option in this firmware. Once you get used to its quirks, it's a great little machine that prints quickly and beautifully. I'm very satisfied with it. We'll see how it stands the test of time, as many "new" devices don't seem to measure up to the quality of units from yester-years. ... show more
