I bought this in the middle of a set of eggs that were already incubating (my old incubator was starting to go out). When this one came in, I had a couple days of incubation left before lockdown so my review can only reflect a few days of incubation and the lockdown & hatching. Incubation - this was easier to maintain the humidity around 45-50% than my other incubator (large styrofoam one). Humidity is always the biggest pain so that was nice. This cute little house incubator has a way to turn the eggs but I did not get a chance to use it as I simply manually rolled them because I had a couple incubation days left. The temperature was easy to adjust. It shows in Celcius so I simply dropped two tiny temp/humidity thermometers in the incubator so I could watch the levels. To adjust the temp all you have to do is press the gear symbol and then push the + or -, then wait and it will stop flashing and set at the new temp. I did not use the candler. You can definitely hear the fan. I tuned it out pretty quick as just background noise, it may bother some people though. The water tray reservoir is very easy to fill and you do not have to open the incubator up to add it. Lockdown/Hatching - For coturnix quail I need to bring the humidity up to 65 to 75%. I was able to get it up there by completely filling the reservoir and adding a folded up paper towel inside (presoaked with water). It did drop a little on me up until they starting hatching. I really appreciate this design even though it only holds a small amount of eggs because the clear viewing windows on the sides make it easier to monitor the progress and as an added bonus the baby chicks came over and huddled at the window to watch me. When you remove chicks after they have dried out and still have some hatching inside, it does lose heat and humidity (which again is normal for incubators). I appreciated that this one has an alarm when the heat gets too far off of the setting you set. The alarm goes off and continue to go off until it reaches temp again. I would recommend if you buy this that: 1.) you get a tiny humidity/temp thermometer for in this to double check the temps it is reading inside while in use (regardless of which incubator(s) you use you should never trust its sensors, that is a quick way to loose an entire set of eggs) 2.) I think like... maybe you could fit 6 chicken eggs in here... maybe. This is better suited to quail and other small bird eggs. 3.) I used water to presoak the paper towel I placed it in to boost humidity during lockdown and help maintain it. I did notice that the paper towel directly in the center of the tray had browned edges on the upper part (not sure if it was being scorched?) so I would say place any pieces of paper towel by the clear edges so you can see it and so it is farther from the heat. 4.) Make sure anytime you have get into this that you make sure it is reseated properly on the base/bottom tray so that it doesn't leak humidity and heat. Other thoughts: I wish that it had a switch to turn a light on inside the incubator to see into it easier (if it has one I missed it). I accidently overfilled the reservoir and it spilled over the side onto the counter so be careful not to overfill it. I paid about 30 or 35 dollars for this and I think it was well worth it. I will definitely keep using it. I do think that unless you are doing a super small amount of chicken eggs that you won't find it very useful. I also would worry that the chicken chicks could possibly get burned on top of their head maybe... given how low the ceiling is and how tall they would be. You could definitely still use this to incubate and hatch up you would want to have a separate brooder set up and at temp already going and waiting so you can remove them immediately upon hatch to place in the brooder.

Excellent incubator! I took it out of the box and within minutes had 14 eggs in it. 11 of the 14 hatched with no effort on my part aside from adding water. I highly recommend this item and would happily buy it again!

The media could not be loaded. ***Update***21 days later I had to adjust the temp up and down and hand feed the water out of the bottle if not the whole bottle would of went in and the humidity was 99% (you wouldn’t know that without buying a hydrometer) also the temp isn’t right rely on the hydrometer you buy. With all that said out of 12 eggs 2 eggs candled we’re not fertile when candled at 7 days 1 failed at 2 weeks 6 have hatched perfectly and 2 more have pipped. Only 1 egg I was expecting to hatch didn’t but still could we will see. I would absolutely buy this again as long as you monitor and get a couple hydrometers. First- all the people saying that it is a manual turner because the instructions state to manually turn the eggs 2-3 times a day is just to verify that it is working and turning correctly top is lined up and such. it turns on its own every 2 hours. Secondly- I ordered a pack of three small hydrometers with the temperature. The humidity inside was 99% with the bottle attached. I had to dump out all of the water in the tray and only allow a little bit to go in. Keep an eye on the humidity until it was where I wanted it and then stop the flow of water. I don’t even recommend keeping the bottle attached because it’s way too much water. Roughly a 1/2 cup kept the humidity around 65% third- the temperature is off. It was set at 100°, and the hydrometers I put inside put two. Both read 98.1° while the incubator said it was 100° you need your temp 99.5-101.0 I had to turn the incubator up to the max of 103° one hydrometer says 99.5 the other 100° the incubator 103° I’m hoping the actual temperature is around 100 I also added the styrofoam packing bottom back onto the incubator to try and hold in the heat even though I feel like it’s not the problem it’s the thermometer that is the problem. I have one more additional hydrometer that I could put in there, so I had several different readings in different places inside it I may end up doing that right now I have one in the center and one on the outer edge of the turner which is why I’m getting two different temperatures from them now. The eggs turn great full rotations I marked them to make sure they were. Also the dome only goes on one way if you do not have it on the correct way heat and humidity will escape and even when it’s on the correct way you have to run your hands all the way around to make sure it’s seated completely on it. I have 12 black copper eggs in. I will update in 21 days. As far as water I will keep a eye on the humidity and manually add it to the part the bottle connects to. I will add more the last 3 days durnimv lock down because you want it a little higher then.

I was not too crazy about buying this when I did. Because I was worried it would be junk. But this has actually been pretty good to us. We have successfully cared for and hatched many chicks and ducklings with this incubator. And it is still working great whenever we need it again. It gets the job done. Only had one egg not hatch that we cared for. But that was due to my grandson grabbing it and then dropping it on the ground before it was fully formed.

Works, had about a 50-60% hatch rate. Works best with smaller size eggs not medium to large. Also it’s a little hard to line up the lid and get it to close completely.
