I've seen some reviews complaining about assembly... it's just two screws, and the allen key is provided. I personally fail to understand how this is a problem. I've purchased this for woodworking, cutting and putting together many parts, I'm not going to complain for assembling two pieces of aluminum, especially when this is a fraction of the cost of the other red birdie brand. Love "made in the USA" but I can't afford it or justify the price tag. It's square, no issues, however, I've recently start using black rulers and I find them easier to read. I'm keeping five stars because it does what it does and this is just personal preference. The ruler is just fine.

These pocket rulers arrived neatly packaged. They are very flat and have a smooth finish and the edges are nicely finished and very square corners. The markings are accurate, easy to read and come in 1/16-inch and 1/32-inch graduations on one side and 1/16-inch and 1 mm on the other side. The end scales come in 1/32-inch graduations on one side and 1 mm on the other. The rule stops slide smoothly and the knurled knobs easily tighten without much effort and firmly holds the rule stops in place. I was originally looking for only one ruler but at this price, I can't complain. A no-brainer in recommending these rules to anyone, or everyone.

I just recently received them so time will tell on the longevity. The three things that I was looking for was how easily and freely would the stop slide back and fourth. How easy were the thumb screws on the stops to tighten and un-tighten and the overall accuracy. The really like the 6” because it fits great in my apron and always have it with me, it is used all of the time. Definitely recommended.

The slider is very thin (0.47") and the edges are chamfered. If you measure something that has a small radius or chamfer that the slider is against, the slider may not be aligned with the edge reference plane. 2 x 4 framing lumber often has an 1/8" radius on the edges. If the slider were thicker, it would be possible for the slider edge to align up with the edge of the 2 x 4 instead of the slider chamfer being against the wood along the edge radius. Most try square have 0.25" of flat surface on each side of the ruler to reference to.
