Wasn’t sure of the magnets holding strong enough but so far they do a very good job. Not as secure as being lt but if you use it correctly it holds very well.

This is a well-engineered item and the square is actually, well, square -- an important attribute in a square. I mention this because other products fail in this regard. The magnetic attachment takes a bit of getting used to, though. The ruler is a bit reluctant to slide because of the magnetic "stickiness". After you've used it a few times, this becomes a non-issue.     • Much easier to use than the old style
I’ve had cheap ones and expensive ones, both can be a pain when putting the scale (some might call that the “ruler”) back into the square casting. This magnetic version gets rid of that issue. The magnets are plenty strong, I have had no negative issues with the scale coming out during use. As the description notes, this square is specially designed for use by electricians but it can be used for any work, in my case the the one side of the scale is superfluous but the other side marked in inches 1/8” & 1/16”. I would imagine that they make one without the other markings but this works for me. It would just be a little more convenient if both sides were in inches or even one side metric. ... show more
