This product does a great job of moving water and keeping the tank clean. The only bad thing is that it seems to be cheaply made and some parts don’t fit together perfectly. Other than that it works great and is very quiet!

The filter runs great, flow adjusts to my fishs' needs. However, there's not enough room between my tank and the wall for this filter. Because of this, the cover doesnt fit on the filter and the pump hums super loudly. It's a really good filter, does its job and all, it just doesn't fit on my tank properly. ... show more

Added to a 29 gallon turtle tank. Seems to be keeping up well and the motor runs very quietly. Comes assembled only needing to add the tube extensions. Comes with a filter and the ability to adjust the flow rate with a simple lever on top of the unit

    • Worked WAY Better than I thought it would for my axolotls

I have 2 axolotls in a 20 gallon long tank and had a whisper bio wheel set up before. All the rage was to use sponge filters so I dumped that bio wheel (the wheel part rarely worked) and bought two sponge filters, one was a air driven and the other was a twin pump driven. I noticed that often the tank would struggle to keep clear, even after water changes it was pretty bad. On a hunch I got the 30 gallon sized Tetra, this is oversized but I typically oversize filters a bit. It took 3 days but the tank is crystal clear running this and the single air driven sponge, I would not have believed it would work this well. I keep the pump on a lower setting on the tetra, it was raging pretty fast when it was on full blast. I haven't changed the cartridge yet but will work on a hack so I don't have to keep buying expensive replacements. ... show more

My daughter and I have used this same model from a previous purchase for over a year and it is still going strong. recently we wanted to setup more aquariums so obviously we wanted more of the same filters/pumps. Unfortunately as you see in the picture, one of the two plastic good bacteria inserts wouldn't fully seat when inserted. I tried switching sides and the same in plastic insert would not seat in either side, whereas the other one seated correctly in either side. I matched them both up together and didn't notice any difference between them but clearly there has to be some difference. I used this for my 10g tank. Honestly works pretty good for the price. But as other have said. The fit of its components are a little off. Even with brand new filters, it over flows along the intake tube. I would think that should only happen if the filter was dirty. Knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't recommend unless your just trying to have a cheap simple set up. (Like a 10 gal). It is working, keeping the tank clean, low noise as well. ... show more
