Update - I now have installed 4 of these fans and all have never had an issue with any of them. Very good budget fan, comparable to fans that cost twice as much at the big box store. Great for bedrooms where you do not need something that looks nice. Pros 1. This is a very basic fan. It comes with everything you need for a fan and none of the extras they try and sell you at the big box store that get thrown away anyway. 2. Construction is solid 3. Fan is very quiet 4. Fan was easy to install, and directions are easy to follow. This is not true of every fan I have installed so huge plus here 5. It is possible with a if you wire this fan with 14/3 or 12/3 wire to use the 3rd wire to install a speed switch on the wall. I did not do this however 6. There is plenty of space in the ceiling mount to store all the wires and wire nuts. This alone is enough to make me buy this fan again as some fans you have to jam everything in there. 7. My box came with extra screws and such in case you lose stuff Cons 1. As a budget fan you can see some of the mounting screws. No noise at all. Already balanced. Easy install. OMG this has made a HUGE difference in my loft apartment with 20 ft ceilings. I put an 18" extension rod on it with the generic remote control unit and my life is so much better! With the bedroom upstairs, and one tiny window up there, it is usually 5-10 degrees hotter. This fan does the trick! I just turn it on high for a little while and it cools it right down. I do have AC, but it is inept. This fan brings the cooler air downstairs up to the bedroom upstairs. LOVE it! The remote control makes it great to use right from the bed. For reference my apt is about 900 sq ft. and is all open. I was worried about the fan being too small, but it works great for my purpose of air distribution in an open space. I'm super sensitive to noise and movement when I sleep and this is zero noise. I got the $20 remote control that controls 3 speeds and light, but I didn't want a light. Works great. My handyman did it in less than an hour and the most difficult part was trying to get up to the junction box. ... show more

Came timely with Prime as always. Nice fan with good design for easy install. Just 2 things worth noting - wiring instructions do include how to wire to a wall switch and remember that the black pieces screwed to the bottom of the motor are to protect it during transport. So the retaining screws you can use but the black plastic pieces are disposed of. Other than that it looks good and runs strong and quiet. Happy Wife - Happy Life! ... show more

I have installed many Westinghouse ceiling fans. This is the 1st one I had problems: - was doing a flush mount and the canopy would not fit over the bolts in the yoke. The bolts have security TORX and I don't have the tool to tighten them:-( I ended up filling away some of the sheet metal on the canopy. - once I had the canopy attached to the ceiling I turned on the motor to test the electrical connections. The shipping stabilizer tabs kept the motor from turning freely. The instructions should say that the tabs should be removed as soon as the canopy is attached, followed by testing the motor function. -My fan came with noise damping motor gaskets. I found it was easier to screw the bolts through the bracket into the gasket while down on the ground. The gasket holds the bolts in place. After setting up the fan blades this way, it is easy to take the assembly and bolt it to the motor rather than juggling the gaskets bolts and blades overhead. ... show more

Fan does everything it's supposed to do. Installation was pretty simple. Directions were good and clear. It helped to set up the blades before getting started so that once the fan was mounted on the ceiling, attaching the blades was pretty simple. It was definitely a two person job but not bad at all. There was a pre-existing wall mounted control dial from the previous fan that had died and once the wires were connected it all worked perfectly. It is so beautiful and it really puts out a nice strong air flow. It is strong. It is made well not cheap by any means. We bought two fans at this same price from Lowe's and they how should I say... (Suck). They are cheap and I really dislike looking at them everyday. This beauty is in our living room and it makes the room complete. We have had many compliments on this star of the living room show. It gets all the attention. It is not expensive and works like we spent over $300.00 on it! Great fan but you would expect it to be better from such a great company. This one is noisy and in the end all you truly want is air flow and quiet rotation. Will not buy again.
