  • Great GEN3 game drive but Test to make sure Dashboard software works BEFORE buying WD products
Style: SSD Capacity: 1TB
UPDATE. FIrst still make sure to test out their software prior to buying their products. Install WD Dashboard now before you buy it. If you get a blank white screen then you won't be able to use their software. Some of my PC's work with the software and others not. Plenty of people expressing the same issue for a LONG time now. I did end up buying a 2nd open box SN570 1tb and also now a 2tb SN570 because the performance is so good. After I cloned over 900gb from my SX8200 I ran before and after ATTO speed tests on it. The drive being full had basically the same performance where my older SX8200 1TB has much slower speeds with the same cloned data on it. Was impressed with this drive. The open box item showed only around 500gb written to the drive. S/N shows till April 2027. Original review I'm sure the SN570 is a fine affordable drive but currently I would never(well I did buy 2 more)buy another WD NVMe product until they resolve years long issues with WD Dashboard software. To make matters worse you can't even use past working versions as it checks the internet for the latest build. The problem is Dashboard does not open up except for a blank white screen. Researching online and many people for years have had this issue and still no solution. Some people have been able to update the firmware via booting into Safe Mode with Networking. That did not work for me. The only reason I was able to access the drive through their software is because I have a 2yr old version of it installed on a 2nd PC in the home. I ultimately had to pull the SN570 from the intended PC, install it in a PCIe adapter card , install it in the unintended PC, update the firmware. I then cloned that 1tb NVMe I had in there to the SN570 and kept the SN570 in the unintended PC with the working dashboard software. What you need to check BEFORE buying any WD SSD/NVMe drive is install their latest software and try to open it. If you get any sort of menu other than the blank white screen you should be fine. If you get a white screen then I would strongly recommend just buy any other good brand as you will turn this 5min install into hours and hours of research simply to get to the latest firmware. TEST THEIR DASHBOARD SOFTWARE TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS BEFORE YOU BUY A WD DRIVE!!! ... show more

  • A great SSD at a great price.
Style: SSD Capacity: 1TB
Reliable, easy to install SSD drive. Been using WD for decades and picked this up to add a second storage SSD to a laptop. Could not have been easier to install. The 1TB capacity is great, and it's got a high rated lifespan. I haven't noticed a difference in battery life, so good power consumption. Just a great all around SSD drive for auxiliary purposes, at a great price. ... show more

  • Easier to install than I expected. Works great!
Style: SSD Capacity: 500GB
I upgraded my Mac Mini (late 2014 model) including a new PNY 1TB SSD hard drive and this NVMe. The NVMe requires an adapter, which I purchased on Amazon as well. (Sintech M.2 NGFF NVMe SSD Card for Upgrade Mac Mini Late 2014 Year A1347 MEG Series). You will need a #6 and #8 Torx SECURITY screwdrivers to get into the Mac mini and to install the new parts. I had a Torx set, but they weren't "security" so I had to make a dash to the store before they closed so I could use the computer the next day. The NVMe fit perfectly into the adapter with one provided screw. The adapter was easy to slid inside the computer and snap the wires to the computer. My son-in-law recommended this set up for me and I'm so glad he did. My computer was dying and was taking forever to just turn a page or open an email. It was like dial-up if you're old enough to remember that. My computer is faster than it was when I first got it. I'm really happy with the upgraded guts and am proud of my 70 year old self for tackling this job and getting it right. The hardest part for me was reattaching the fan connection. IT IS a TINY snap on connector. found out after the install and update that Monterey is the last OS upgrade that my late 2014 Mac Mini will accept, even with the new hardware. I think that'll be fine for a couple years as long as Lightroom doesn't require newer than that before then. Hopefully I can save up for a new computer. This is a good "tide me over fix". Good luck with your own upgrade. ... show more

  • Decent but needs CSM enabled…weird issues
Style: SSD Capacity: 1TB
I purchased a mobo & cpu combo which was an i5-11600kf with a Gigabyte Aorus Z590-E mobo but sent that back after it fried my Founders Edition 1080Ti and refused to let me boot to install Windows. With a KF I had no onboard gpu and so enabling CSM would mean no booting with any kind of graphics so the board would beep, restart, try to post, fail, beep, reboot, continue forever. So I got the ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E and am still having trouble getting Windows to install. It has not been a joy at all. I’ve been doing this for 20+ years and never had so many problems! Is it the NVMe? Some might be but surely not all the issues. It’s 1TB, decently priced & reasonably fast so it is win-win-win! I’ll try to update this review once I finally get Windows 10 or 11 Pro installed on the NVMe successfully; which, again, I have been unable to do at all! *UPDATE* Enabling CSM on the ASUS mobo made the WD 1TB NVME work perfectly. I have been super pleased with the WD drive. I need to do some testing to see how the drive compares to the SAMSUNG 970 EVO that it is replacing. On paper the 970 EVO is insanely better but the WD had 4x the space and is only for my OS & install of apps. All games and fast read/write needing applications will go on other drives. Since I have almost 100TB of combined HDD & SSD space I think I have enough other alternatives to use for that. So what was the issue? The Gigabyte board is all I can think of. I know my Insignia branded USB card that is PCIE x1 also was causing problems as Windows was freaking out saying it was taking too much power. So was it the Insignia card too? Probably. So between Insignia & Gigabyte I now have a 1080 Ti FE that is dead & totally unusable. Never again will I want to do business with either of those companies. Cost me my $1100+ (when new) GPU. ... show more

  • Speed and Reliability with the Western Digital SSD
Style: SSD Capacity: 2TB
As a DIY enthusiast, upgrading to the Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD has been a game-changer for my system. The installation process was straightforward, thanks to the M.2 2280 form factor, which fit perfectly into my motherboard. One of the most impressive features of this SSD is its speed. With read speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s, my system boots up almost instantly, and large file transfers happen in a blink. This drive has drastically improved the overall responsiveness of my computer, making multitasking and running heavy applications a breeze. The 2TB capacity provides ample space for all my data, applications, and games, which is essential for someone who likes to keep everything on their main drive. The Gen3 x4 PCIe interface ensures that the SSD operates at its peak performance, making full use of the available bandwidth. A small downside is that the drive can run a bit warm under heavy load, but this is typical for high-performance NVMe SSDs and can be managed with proper cooling solutions. In summary, the Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD is an excellent upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their system's speed and storage capacity. The impressive performance and easy installation make it a top choice for both casual users and tech enthusiasts. ... show more

  • Nice price, good performance
Style: SSD Capacity: 1TB
Installed these in a Mac Mini and a MacBook Air. Installed and reformatted for MacOS, been cranking along for months no issues. As a typical Mac user, these drives are way faster than Mac OWM drives. Transfer large and many, many small files without a hitch. Sorry not a big numbers guy. Just is it; working well, no issues better than what I had before in my everyday working environment? For me the answer is yes. I move rather large (240gb to 700gb) files around more than I like, and they chug a long quite nicely. I also move a few to hundreds of smaller files around as well. Again not blazing, but waaaay better than what I had before. When I bought these I was trying to balance price, speed and reliability. And I feel I accomplished that. When the spirit moves me, and I upgrade to a system that supports a way, way faster drive I will upgrade. As it stands, the next Mac I get will still be able to use these drives and maybe, just maybe exceed their capabilities. But probably not. So I have a few years of very nice speeds and most in my pocket. Sounds like a win to me. ... show more
