This thing has a kick of power. I was very skeptical of electric tillers. But omg. Chewed through my garden in a few min. TOTALLY LOVE THIS THING. Will see how it works when I redo my lawn after skunk damage from them digging grubs last fall. I will update.

This little tiller surprised me with it's power. Working new ground, it chewed through roots, rocks and packed clay. I think if you let it, it would bury itself. It really digs deep. You just have to hold on tight, as it,ll bounce on hard clay. With wheels down it,ll dig shallow. Wheels up, it,ll dig deep. It is built solid and easily assembled, with good English instructions. I was looking for an affordable, small tiller to redo an area for a above ground planter. This worked. It was affordable, powered, and lightweight. It did the job. It's not perfect though. It'll fly on you so you have to be ready and steady. This got away from me especially by the wall. This is my only tiller so I have no point of comparison. I like the price point vs others. I didn't need a professional one. And its small enough to disassemble and leave outside in one of my storage boxes. If I was doing a whole yard though, I can see possible frustration if the dirt is too impacted and this thing runs away from you. I'm not sure how it would work for really big projects or professionals but for a residential big area it is a fantastic little thing! I have very compacted clay soil in my yard that previously had trees etc. So the task at hand wasn't easy. I manage to till through a 600 sq ft area with no difficulty. And I'm an exceptionally weak girl, just physically of course ;) I love this thing! I don't need to hire muscle anymore. It's my new best friend! I managed to improve my soil so much that I could plant successfully annual flower beds, vegetables etc. It's powerful enough to cut roots and break seriously compacted soil. I love it! And for the price, boy it's really a great machine! Tip: if you need to till deeper than 8 inches, till once, take out the soil and till again. I managed to go 2-3 feet deep with it. I basically used it as a digging tool, works like a charm. No more digging! ... show more

    • Great machine but a little sensitive
I did a 7x5 foot section of my yard with this awesome thing and it came out great. The only thing that holds me back from suggesting it is I had to take multiple breaks to clean out the blades. If you wait too long the weeds and grass get wrapped up in the axel and slow the machine down. Also being electric, I was super concerned about NOT accidentally running over the extension cord. Other than that, it does what it should and got the job done quick, great buy for the money. Also great to have as a home owner you will use it all the time for projects in the yard. ... show more

    • Great product with great instruction manual
I bought this for my wife to use in her chicken containment area. The ground became rock hard with the chickens working to find bugs and insects to eat and made the area impossible to grow grass. My wife put the cultivator together with ease as the instruction manual was well written and easy to follow. She had the unit together in under 20 minutes. She was amazed at how a small unit like this turned our rock hard dirt into "putty" in a matter of minutes. What amazed me the most was the detail of the instruction on power usage. I've NEVER had a user manual go to the level of detail as to specify what type of power cord gauge should be used at specified power cord lengths to handle the cultivators current requirements.     • Very good tiller for the price
This tiller was fairly easy to put together. Use the directions as I had to start over once but it was very obvious when reading the directions. This cut through fairly hard dirt so I could smooth out and place a stone pathway. You have to work with it and try not to go too fast otherwise it could hop. This is the same for all light weight tillers, even the Honda gas trimmer that I borrowed from a neighbor did that. It is very quiet compared to gas versions. This is the second WEN product I have purchased. My other one was a drill press that works great as well. WEN makes some high quality products at reasonable prices. I have to chuckle because their colors look exactly like Black & Decker! ... show more

    • A good little tiller for small to medium jobs.
An effective little tiller that did a surprisingly good job of tilling a patch of ground for a garden. There were a lot of shallow roots from nearby trees, but the tiller was able to handle most of them. A few of the larger ones (over 1/2" diameter) wrap around the tines and tripped the breaker, but did no damage. After unplugging the tiller I unwrapped the offending roots and carried on until the garden plot was ready for planting. I expect that the job will be easier next year as there will be no large roots. ... show more
