  • Decent printer and even better customer service
Color: TINA2 Basic V7
UPDATE: I was able to resolve the leveling issue by working with the Z-Offset feature. I do wish that the auto leveling feature covered that one corner, but seeing as there’s a way to solve the issue, there’s nothing to complain about. Part of the reason for the bump to five stars is because of the great customer service. They didn’t necessarily need to help me with anything since I ended up troubleshooting on my own, the sellers made the effort to reach out and help with anything that was needed, even offering to exchange the printer. So even if you do have issues, there’s reliable customer service ready to help, and that’s nice to know. I've had this printer for just over two weeks, and in order to ensure proper functionality, I haven't let it rest very much in that time. So far, it's generally been a great experience. There's almost no setup, and everything is super intuitive to use. I think this is a great size for a beginner. However, if you do end up at all inclined to go deeper into the 3d printing hobby, You'll almost immediately want a larger bed. That's not a fault of the printer, obviously, but just keep that in mind. I couldn't use the proprietary slicer because I'm running on linux, but cura works just fine. I'll start with the main complaint I have: the auto bed leveling feature. It works well, but it only has 3 probing points. They are located on the front left and right, and rear right. But, the rear left does not get checked. And, it just so happens that prints that extend to that part of the printerbed appear to have a leveling issue, where the nozzle is either too close or not close enough to the bed, and that area of the print ends up super thin compared to the rest of the print. I'm going to try trouble shooting that with zoffset settings, and I'll see about updating this review if that works, but I feel like it would have been a simple thing to have four probing points, rather than only three probing points with no way to manually level the bed (that I know of). That's really what prevents this printer from being a four or even five star product. If there were just easier ways to make adjustments or more thoroughness in the auto functions of the printer to maintain it, this would easily be a five start product for me. So, I'll have to see if there are any ways to address this complaint. The filament that's included is fine just to make sure the printer actually works, but I wouldn't waste my time with it. Terrible quality and it just doesn't extrude well. Get something like Overture PLA or Easy PLA and you'll be much happier with the results. ... show more

  • The Start of a 3D Printing Journey
I'm almost 40 years old. When I first started seeing 3D printers available on the market, they seemed within reach, but too expensive to get into. I have a family now and they're young because I started late, but life is busy. I immediately saw the useful applications, replacement parts like knobs for stoves and toys, creating things, etc. I thought 3D printing would be awesome to get into, but no longer have the time I did before. I figured once my kids get older they would probably get into it and make some cool stuff. When I was in my teens, Flash animations and Photoshop were the thing, I spent creativity there. This Tina2 printer was much more affordable than others I have seen, and appealed to me because it is for beginners, and seemed compact. It seemed like the perfect way to test the waters without committing too much, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to give it a whirl. Well, I did, and I am VERY happy with this. I went from having no knowledge of 3D printing (probably still have no knowledge ;p), to feeling like I have some things down. Also, when I see other people's makes on Thingiverse (an easy website where you can 3D print objects others have created), I see some of theirs being ugly and messed up, and mine seem to come out really good in comparison - and I don't even know what I'm doing!!! After reading the directions, this was surprisingly simple and fun. It takes a LOOONG time to print things though. But, due to this, I've used this thing to continually print for days on end. I just see one thing takes about 6 hours, I go back and check on it. I start something at nighttime and it's done in the morning. Start something else big before I go to work, and so on. I did run into two issues though that I wanted to pass on, but customer service for this unit has been EXCELLENT. The very first time I used this, the nozzle stuck into the magnet and burned into the magnet a bit. I didn't know what it was doing since I never used a 3D printer before, but after awhile I saw nothing was happening and stopped it. After that first attempt, it worked flawlessly afterwards. Maybe something got knocked around in shipping. Make note to remove the protective pieces inside before using. Customer service was very nice and great. They sent me a replacement magnet piece for the bottom. The second issue was the fan on the 3D printer stopped working. This was a couple weeks after having it, and using it a lot of times non-stop mind you. I saw a print had failed midway through. After trying to remove the filament and put it back in a few times, it was still messed up. I also swapped out the nozzle, and still kept having jams. I did all the research and wondered what was wrong. After trying a few times, I saw the fan above the nozzle wasn't spinning, and remembered it always seemed to be on during prints. I found that the filament was melting higher up than the nozzle, and although I had cleared it out multiple times, the remaining filament up higher was causing problems. Since it was still less than a month, I sent it for an exchange, and have since been printing more with no issues. So far, the only preventative maintenance I've had to do, and this is on probably around 100 hours of 3D printing, was to use a brass brush and brush off the nozzle while the heat is on periodically. Also, the masking tape on the magnet pad on the bottom I've had to replace a couple times. I am going to try to buy a roll of 6" masking tape to save some money on that and see if it works. Other than that, it keeps going strong. I've found it to be very interesting and cool. I'm sure if these were around when I was younger I'd be making little cool trinkets and things like that in high school instead of making photoshop images and burning CD's. (It was okay back then, Napster had just started!) This also has many more practical applications than doing that. For example, I have some cheap solar lights for my shed outside. Rather than drill and screw the flimsy solar panel, I just set it on the roof of my shed and used two hand clamps to hold it on. My wife complained those were ugly. I 3D printed two small clamps and put them up there, and they're much less ugly. That, and it cost almost nothing since a large roll of filament produces many things. If you're like me and were on the fence about 3D printing, I say to give this a try. It will be easier than you think, and it may lead you to invest some more down the line and start to get more creative. ... show more

  • Well Worth the money
Color: TINA2 Basic V7
Bought one for my self and one as a gift. Not a Newbie at this, started with a Tiny Boy (This one's great grand father), then got a hictop 3dp-19. Both were the same size, take the same power brick. This one ran straight out of the box, never had one of those before. Put the microSD in( that is the one thing that they should change, the micro card, too damn small) and bam your printing. unless I have a long print job, I don't use cards. Once I realized that my computers were too old to run it, I bought a Win 10/s, cura 5.2.4, it was straight forward. The quality of prints was great this is perfect for kids if you know what your doing. It was made to download a file, slice it, put the card in the printer or run it from the computer. Won't I don't like, the lack of a manual that has the specs. You can not access the firmware, so you are stuck with what ever was put on. Never had a self leveling bed before, I love that. my 15mm test cube came out like this x=14.99 y= 15.07 z= 15.38 which for what I do is out of range. If I could get the the firmware, I could fix that. only god knows what therosister to use if I have to change. I don't think this company will be around in five years, so buy spare hot ends now, not later. ... show more

  • Great starter printer
Color: TINA2S
I just got this last night and I'm on my third item already. The quality of the printed items appears quite good, with layer lines barely visible. I used Cura to slice a file I downloaded from the Internet and it worked flawlessly. The only two down sides are that I'd like the print area to be a bit larger, and it doesn't come with software for Linux. The documentation is a bit sparse, but it is so easy to use that's not much of a problem. ... show more
