This is my first 3D printer and it’s been a great experience so far. Setup was simple, and I was able to start printing quickly without having to mess with a lot of settings. The automatic calibration makes it very beginner friendly, and print quality has been excellent right out of the box. It’s also quiet and compact, which is a nice bonus. It also connects to an app that allows you to print from phone or computer with access to hundreds of prints for almost anything you can imagine! If you’re new to 3D printing and want something that just works, this is a great first printer.

I had a negative experience with another brand, which is spaghtii printing, but the Bambu lab Ai mini is really impressive. It prints fast and reliably; the print is very strongly adhesive to the heating plate.

I bought the Bambu Lab A1 Mini Combo with AMS Lite for my 12-year-old son in November 2025. When it is operating properly, it is genuinely impressive: print quality is excellent, multicolor printing is fun, and it has produced some very nice projects. The problem is that “when it works” has become far too rare. The printer repeatedly becomes unusable because filament breaks off in the print head/extruder path. We have contacted customer support multiple times. At one point, they had us replace the filament head—a process that felt less like routine maintenance and more like brain surgery with YouTube as our operating manual. Now, only about two months later, it appears to have the same problem again. My son is neither careless nor completely new to this. He is 12, but he is more technically capable than I am and has prior experience with 3D printers. Yet this machine continues to let him down. It is frustrating to watch a child get excited about designing and making something, only to see the printer fail again before he can finish it. For a fairly expensive product from a company with such a strong reputation, I expected a reliable appliance—not a recurring repair project. At this point, I have no interest in fixing the same issue again only to wonder whether it will fail three days later. I want a full refund. Great printer in its brief moments of health. A very disappointing ownership experience.

My 12 yr old got this for Christmas. He loves it! He prints new things everyday! He’s pretty good with technology and was able to figure out setup all on his own. Definitely worth it for a first 3d printer.
