I really struggled in selecting the right charcoal grill but Weber was always my first choice, just which one? I have a Weber gas grill that has been my go to for a few years now, but the lack of charcoal and that distinct flavor was always in the back of my mind. I'm no purest but I do understand those that will not cook on anything other than charcoal. I don't know how many stores I went to in order to compare these grills but I looked at the Original Kettle, the Master-Touch, Performer, Performer Premium and Performer Deluxe. I pulled each one out and spent 10 minutes looking at the quality and features of each one. I finally landed with the Master Touch because it has the right amount of features at the right price, and this is a fantastic grill with some very obvious upgrades that are worth the extra money. . The packing of the grill is top notch with quality materials. The cardboard and plastic bags are just better packing then what I expected and the grill was perfect right out of the box. Assembling the grill was a breeze but one of the legs was a little difficult to install. The clip you place in the post opening prior to the leg kept sliding out of the way and would not engage. I had to spread the clip out a little to give it more "holding power" but the leg went right in. The engineers at Weber also have a neat little trick for installing the top handle. The instructions are clear not to over tighten the nut, and they give you a little wrench that slips off the nut when it is just right. It's that type of attention to detail that is important. The quality of the grill is outstanding and the upgrades are noticeable. The handles are all an upgrade in materiel and the top adjustable vent has a plastic handle that makes it easier to change temperature when the grill is smok'n hot. The side handle has two clips for grilling tools, but I'm not sure how much I'll use those. The wheel covers are also a nice touch and when you look at this grill you see quality. The removable aluminum ash catcher may not be very important for grilling, but it sure makes cleaning up a breeze. Who likes scooping out ashes, not me, and moving the lever back and forth a few times pushes the ashes into the detachable ash pot for easy, mess free disposal. This was the first time I ever used an ash catcher, but now that I have I'll not go back. I was on the fence about the Gourmet BBQ system but that in my opinion is the star of this grill and was a must have. The removable center cooking grate is a nice feature in itself for adding charcoal, and my chimney starter almost fits perfectly. Regardless how you load the charcoal this insert makes it easier without having to take off the entire grate. I ordered the sear grate and griddle and used both on the very first test run of the grill. The sear grate leaves beautiful marks on your meat but I saw other reviews complaining about the sear grate sliding off. The grate has 4 posts that lock it in place and it did not move at all on my grill. The sear grates themselves are wider than most and this is a great addition to the collection. I obviously could not use the griddle and sear grate at the same time so I threw the griddle on Weber gas grill and cooked shrimp in some butter sauce. I really like the griddle and can't wait to cook some breakfast. I plan to order the poultry roaster, dutch oven, and maybe the Korean BBQ insert but in my opinion Weber could do a little better job in providing information for this system. There are multiple inserts not shown on their website including the dutch oven, biscuit and waffle maker just to name a few, but overall the Gourmet BBQ is a must have and I'm very happy I got it. The grill also came with the Char-Baskets for indirect cooking. I've not used these yet but appear to be a very nice addition in managing charcoal. It will keep the charcoal separated and you will not have to reach in and constantly separate charcoal. I can't wait to use these. The next step up is the Performer series. The larger cart with locking casters and the side table is a nice addition, and it has some nice grill tool hooks. But in my mind the table was just a little too small and these little extra features did not justify the extra $100. The Performer Premium and Deluxe have larger and nicer tables and other features that really are not needed, and the price jumps $250 and $300. I just could not justify the extra money and I think the Master-Touch is the perfect grill with the right amount of upgrades. I wish I could rate myself because I'd give me 2 stars for ordering an off brand cover. It's nice but not as nice as the Weber covers and I only saved $5.00. I'll wait a few weeks but eventually I'll order the Weber brand cover. Don't be cheap! Anything other than a Weber was just not going to work. Look at all the grills lined up outside at the local hardware store. The material is not as nice and the fit and finish is just not there. You don't see a lot of Weber's sitting outside because they keep the good stuff inside the store. Weber is the go to grill for quality of material and workmanship and I expect this grill to last me for a long time. Hope this helps! I was undecided on the gourmet BBQ system was .

It’s been a while since I owned a proper Webber grill and this model does not disappoint. Solid construction and overall quality you expect from Webber. The ash removal feature is very good, grill grates and charcoal bins are well designed and made. Easy to assemble and fire up!

This charcoal grill is awesome. It really delivers everything you need in a grill for a great price. The cooking top has a 22 inch diameter. The coal holders will take up around half of the bottom coal holding grill (a little over half of the food grill space). This allows for a great one-sided direct heat for searing and then low-and-slow cooking. It also allows for pure direct heat or a more pure indirect heat setup. It is a very versatile grill. This grill also functions as a great smoker. Since I got the version that has an optional part of the grill surface that can be removed to provide a pan-shaped hole in the middle I can even cook veggies and other stir-frys in this grill. You really cannot beat the amount of food that can be cooked on this grill. The heating rack that is included in the grill I found to be a bit cumbersome and more annoying than useful. I control the heat by offsetting the coals so I can "warm" things directly on the grill surfaace. That is a lot easier than having the heater shelf move all around and creating a mess. The cover-holder on the side is actually very durable and I trust it will last for years. The assembly of the grill was a bit more involved than I thought it would be but the instructions make it straight forward to get through. Included in this grill is: *The grill *The food grill grate (with a center round that can be taken out or kept in) *Bottom coal grill grate *Coal holders Pros: *Great grill space *Includes a lot of good extras *Ash cleaning system is nice and efficient Cons: *Included heating rack is just cumbersome and moves too easily (-1/4 a star) Additional Considerations: Grilling is made easy when you have the right tools. Getting the following will make your grilling experience much better *Wax starter cubes (Weber makes these) *Coal chimney to fire up the coals (Weber makes a great one) *spray cleaning fluid for cleaning the grill top (Weber makes this) *Grill cover (The weber one is not good. It's just amazing! Please note that as of Dec 25 it doesn't include charcoal separator boxes but it comes with charcoal rails which is pretty similar in functionality. Also, they wheels cover is black instead of Grey as the listing showed. Amazon should update listing. Weber page and documents are very clear on what's included. It is easy to assemble but you will definitely need an extra tool to make sure everything is tight enough, the plastic tool included is not enough. Overall great charcoal grill with great cooking space and very good looking. The thermometer included is a very nice touch as well.

Wow! What an amazing product! I had no idea how well built it was, how long these last (investigated on the Internet/YouTube after the fact), or how versatile it was: saw YouTube videos about using the "snake" charcoal arrangement for long-lasting cooking time (10-12 hours) to smoke meat, direct/indirect cooking, infrared cooking, and so many other ways to cook. I also used YouTube to find a plethora of videos about cooking chicken, pork, turkey, beef, hamburgers and hot dogs, and so much more. I'm so surprised about the versatility of the Weber. What surprised me most was the quality of the build, the weight and thickness of the grilling and charcoal grills, the ability to open the sides of the cooking grate to get access to the side charcoal bins (included with the grill!), and that the center of the cooking grill was removable for things like the vortex cone or other Weber add-ons like the griddle, the wok, the searing grill, and many more. Our grill also came with two charcoal "side" holders: when separated, they can be placed along the side of the Weber to create indirect cooking or they can be joined in the middle underneath the removable grilling surface to create a very hot direct heat. Either way, we're really looking forward to cooking with these. We were very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to construct, too. I debated purchasing the service to have someone build the grill for me, but it took me less than 45 minutes (and no swearing!) to put it together myself. I'm really proud of this purchase. My son and I are looking forward to many happy years cooking on a Weber. After watching a number of videos, I also purchased a set of long cooking gloves with fingers (not mittens), a remote meat temperature probe, a charcoal vortex, a better grill cleaning brush than the one I have, and the Weber cast iron searing grate (arrives tomorrow). I also invested in a two-handled charcoal chimney instead of the single-handled one we have, although I gotta tell ya well that while the chimney lights charcoal well, our charcoal briquets take somewhere around 30-40 minutes before the top coals have a thin, white ash on them. I fully anticipate the Weber grill will be one of the best purchases I've ever made.

This is a great product by a brand that invented the kettle grill. This was to be my 3rd but Amazon delivered it with a huge dent in m the lid where it seals with the lower part of the kettle. I returned it and ordered a replacement. The replacement arrived with heavy damage to the lower section. I'm done. I ordered the same grill at the same price from my local True Value hardware. They will deliver it to my door in 6 days, already assembled, free of charge. And I expect it will not be damaged. I took off one star for the grill grate that it comes with. The center section of the grate is removable to accommodate attachments that I don't use (like a wok). This removable section always falls out when taking the entire grate out for cleaning or grill set up. Hate it.

This does include “charcoal boxes”. The instructions don’t explain what they are or how to use them, but I figured it out on my own. All the reviews I saw had contradicting information on if this master touch came with them or not. So as of mid 2025 it does. They are adjustable grates you can position anywhere on the bottom coal grate. The grill as a whole is good quality and seems like it will last a while. Straightforward to put together, and the easy ash cleaning feature is very nice. Overall I’d recommend it, as it’s a pretty good value for the cost.
