  • Got it at a discount, but it isn't USA version, no USA electrical plug.
Style: 2 Bay Capacity: 28 TB
I purchased these knowing they where from Europe as they are about 50% cheaper than the USA version. I was only after the 2 14TB HDDs inside them for my Asustor NAS. Great value on that aspect, but if your buying to use as is, your going to need to purchase a USA power supply for them.

  • Massive Storage, Affordable, Reliable But No WD RED Drives.
Style: 2 Bay Capacity: 36 TB
Note: Falsely Advertised On Amazon As WD Red Drives. Came With Another Model Of WD Drives. The WD 36 TB (Usable 32 TB) Has 3 Raid Options To Pick From. Has Built In Hardware Encryption (Password Protection Future). Connectivity Is Via USB C, And The Box Had 2 USB Cables (USB C to A, and USB C to C Cable) Also Mine Came With 2 Power Cables (3 pin UK type and 2 pin round type). ... show more

  • Great value for the price
Style: 2 Bay Capacity: 28 TB
Been using WD drives for years. Needed a very large drive in a RAID 1 configuration to house a music collection. Price on Amazon was lower than other WD drives with less capacity. Note that the low rating on Portability is not an issue - this is a desktop external drive and should not be moved around, especially while in use. I only have two complaints. One, the drive came from overseas, which I knew when ordering. What I didn't realize is that it would have European and British power cables. Not really an issue as I plenty of power cables that fit - wound up using one from an old Apple TV device. Second, the drive comes with utilities software. Unfortunately, this software has not yet been updated to support MacOS Big Sur, resulting in the hard drive disconnecting during the night. Contacted WD support to find out when the software would be updated, but did not receive an answer. I got a response, just not an answer. Solution has been to uninstall the WD software. Since so doing, the disk has yet to disconnect or have a problem. But, overall, a solid thumbs up. WD makes good, reliable drives, and I expect years of good service out of this unit. ... show more

  • Good product missing a part
Style: 1 Bay Capacity: 8 TB
I have had several WD products and they have all been reliable. I bought this one to pair up with my new 24 in. IMac on order. When I got my system and went to hook the drive up I was missing the US plug attachment on the power cable plug in. I had the European and Asian adapters but no two pronged US. Instead of returning a purchased a 39$ power adapter and used the European plug to US capability. Seems to work fine. I just think the QC at WD should be better. ... show more

  • Not for US outlets, loud.
Style: 1 Bay Capacity: 16 TB
I needed a huge drive to download a huge dataset for machine-learning. I got this used for $270 and absolutely would not pay full price for it. After getting an international power adapter, I was able to use this and it's working well enough for the price. Pros: - High Capacity Cons: - Was shipped to me with a UK power cord, and I was told by Amazon support that this is normal, despite it not being mentioned anywhere in the description that I could find - Loud, and vibrates heavily when writing - If it's plugged in when your computer boots, it will slow down the boot process while your computer waits for it to finish making loud noises ... show more

Large abs cost effective! Doesn’t come with an American wall plug though.

  • Great investment, but just one bit of caution.
Style: 1 Bay Capacity: 12 TB
If you are in the United States, note that this seller is overseas. As a result, you'll end up with an AC Adapter which has the UK and European connectors, and not the American one. Beyond that, this is an awesome investment : * It's usable right out of the box, although a PC user may want to change the file system to NTFS. * It's loaded with storage space, yet is very portable - it's the same physical size as the other WD My Books. ... show more

  • Two internal drive failures, nightmare getting warranty service
Style: 2 Bay Capacity: 36 TB
Immediately after receiving the unit, one of the internal drives failed while copying over data from the old drive. Warranty service was truly atrocious. The return window on the old drive passed while I was still trying to get a simple drive replacement. So I am out $1,200 from that. After FINALLY getting a replacement internal drive, THAT drive also failed within a WEEK. WD says that the drive should be plugged directly into the wall and directly into a computer port rather than go through a USB hub, as that will potentially cause the drive to fail. So don't get this if you don't have plenty of fast USB ports on your computer and plenty of empty wall sockets. Further, it makes this weird double clicking noise every 3 seconds while the drive is spinning but not being read that you can hear across the room. After listening carefully to another WD hard drive, that one makes the sound to, but you can barely hear it, and then only if your ear is close. So this is apparently just a really loud unit. Actual reads are even louder, and frequently accompanied by this grinding sound that is rather alarming when you hear it. While working on this second warranty service, they basically told me I should either buy a new computer or a new NAS drive. The equivalent NAS drive they recommended costs $500 more when ordering the same storage capacity (36 TB). i.e. it's an additional 50% of the cost of this drive. The speed of the device is fine. That's about all I can say in its favor. ... show more
