This was a SSD and it was shipped in it's own packaging inside a brown paper envelope with zero packing/bubble protection. Which is a little disappointing. However the drive worked as soon as I hooked it up and moved some Steam games to it without issue. Given this I went ahead and gave it a 4 star. If something happens in the near future I'll come back and update. Drive was even smaller than expected would be a good one to take on the go for sure even though I didn't buy it for that. About 1/3rd of the average phone in size.

It is formatted so you can copy when you plug in. You don't have to mess around with all that crap. It is robust and can take a drop. It is only 2 TB. It has good menu driven interface on plugin. You don't need to do much, don't lose the cable.

SSD on a portable, external drive is just smart so that your data does not get corrupted due to magnets or accidental drop of the drive or other physical disturbances that cause traditional hard drive failures. The size is quite small, around 2-2.5" square and super light. It's convenient is plug and play. Was transferring files in no time at all. Would buy again. The only downside to this is the proprietary connection cable from the drive to the PC, so be sure not to lose or damage it.

I got this thing originally for storing my Xbox games since I was running out of room and the NEXT GEN requires SSD. It will store games and everything else (BUT) the games you store you CANNOT PLAY THEM. It makes sense tho..i don’t know why I thought id be able to store games and play them as well on this little thing. *The weight is so light that it feels like a McDonald’s toy , like it’s just a shell of plastic. But it has TB of space and works like a charm, I now use it for my pc for storing music and videos I create. * cord length is a foot maybe a little longer

Besides marveling at the storage of 2 TB- I could not get over the size and light weight if this SSD portable external drive. So far- it is doing all right! Can carry it anywhere. WD has a good reputation, too!

This is a very fast drive, plenty for anything all the way up to gaming the latest and greatests. The only problem with the drive is that it is by default in exfat format, which has issues with Windows 10 if you plan on running any software on it and so has to be reformatted to NTFS. This takes a couple minutes at most, but is a bummer if you already took hours downloading/moving things to it only to have issues afterwards and then have to reformat and start over. If you get this drive for running software (like games) from it, remember to reformat it to NTFS first.
