After years of waiting for water to reach the far areas of my house, I had finally had enough. This pump exceeded my expectations and works flawlessly. It sat on my counter for a few weeks until I finally decided to install it. Installation time was less than 30 min. It took me longer to get the junk out from beneath the far sink than it did to install. The instructions are straight forward and easy to understand. I did the under the sink valve first. They supply you with all the right hoses and connections. I did have to get long hoses, but that is not the fault of the mfg. My supply pipes are further apart. I bought longer hoses and everything was golden. Installing the pump was beyond easy. Yes I did have to buy the correct CPVC fittings with 3/4" threads to connect to the pump. Less than a dollar at the local hardware. Off the discharge pump I went with a flexible hose that connected to my system. You will have to buy a few extra pvc fittings if you need to make it work with your water heater system. It took less than 30 min to install in total and I plugged it in. I could tell it was working, but the pump is extremely quiet. We set the mode to timer, because we want it on from early morning to around 11 pm at night then the timer shuts off the pump. You will still have hot water, but just not as fast as when the pump is working. Even if you let it run all the time, it would cost around $20 a year, tops, but the timer is a nice feature. So far I am extremely happy with the product and it has hot water at our furthest sink within 5 seconds. Don't hesitate to buy this product. ... show more

    • Will Save Me $$$ On Water!

I wanted to wait a while before reviewing this device to gauge it effectiveness. It's been installed about a month now. I have a 2000 square foot home sitting on a slab, so my water lines (Pex) are in the attic. Although it does not get terribly cold in Southern California during the Winter, it used to take upwards of 30 seconds before the water would get warm. That was a lot of perfectly good water going down the drain. After installing this device, it now takes only 5-7 seconds before the water starts to warm up. Interestingly, the closer the faucet you are opening is to the valve, the sooner your water will become warm/hot, so I find that the sink next to the one with the valve (in our master bathroom) gets the water warm-to-hot within just a few seconds. It's important to tell you that the water will not be piping hot and waiting for you right when you turn on the faucet, but the amount of time, money & water you will save is still worth it. The pump attaches to the top of your water heater and is VERY quiet. After installation, I had to touch it to make sure it was running. Although I have mine set to "On" 24 hours a day, I appreciate the timed feature that allows you to turn it on and off at certain times of the day. It runs on 110 volts, so you may need to buy an extension cord to plug it into an outlet in your home or garage if it's not close to an outlet. As mentioned elsewhere, check the WATTS website before buying as apparently this device will not work with all water heaters. I failed to do this, but I was lucky. Also, it will not work with a tankless heater so do not try it! As far as installation goes, I'm fairly handy around the house, but plumbing is not my strong suit and I scoffed at the notion that I could install this in one hour. However, it took just a little over one hour (as advertised) to install with the only hiccup being a crowded space under the sink where the valve was installed, causing me to get creative with the hose routing and placement. Don't feel like you have to mount the valve to the wall. Mine is working just fine without mounting. I didn't even need to bring out my plumber's tape/pipe dope because everything sealed up great the first time. As an aside, while you have your water heater dismantled, go ahead and drain it. It's probably been a while. My wife was thrilled when I (finally) installed this device after maybe 3 years of her asking. She heartily recommends it and so do I. ... show more

    • Does what it is supposed to, but...

Have had it about a month. So far, so good. Cheaper than the same one at the box store. Easy to install, I could have done it myself, but I was afraid that the bendable copper at the water heater would break, and then I would need a plumber anyway. So, I just had him install it. Works as advertised IMO. Pump is very quiet. I have it set to not run in the middle of the night, and to only turn on during the periods of time when I likely need hot water the fastest. The water at the farthest faucet, and others along the way, now comes out "hot" within a few seconds rather than the minute and a half it was taking. But, "hot" is around 98 degrees, which is controlled by the regulator. It will still take time to get it really hot for doing dishes, taking a shower, etc. But, since the pipes are already heated to 98, it won't take nearly as long as it once did. Oh, also the cold water comes out warm until the pipes are cleared. That's not a big deal to me. Now for the only minus, which I expected based on my research. Most houses probably have at least one branch in the hot water line, meaning that any faucets in other branches will not get the benefit of the pump without purchasing an additional sensor valve. That wouldn't be a problem and would be about a 5 minute install. But, the part is about $55. That seems a little high. I might do it anyway, but I'd rather the part be $25. $55 is about 1/4 of the total pump package. This is really the only reason I didn't give the product 5 stars. ... show more

I was really impressed with the Watts Heat H2O Hot Water Recirculation System. It’s a great product that does exactly what it claims—delivers hot water almost instantly without wasting time or water. The biggest highlight for me was how easy it was to install. I’m not a plumber by any means, but the instructions were clear and all the parts were included. I had it up and running in about an hour using basic tools. The programmable timer is a great feature. I set it to run during the times we usually need hot water, and it works flawlessly. Our bedroom shower is on the opposite end of the house from the water heater, and we used to wait forever for hot water. Now, the wait time has been cut by more than half—it makes a big difference in our morning routine. The included sensor valve and adapters made the whole process smooth. It’s also quiet when it runs, which was a nice surprise. Plus, the 3-year warranty gave me peace of mind. Overall, this system is a smart investment if you're tired of waiting for hot water.     • After Five Years I Still Love It

Update from the review I wrote five years ago, below. After five years it works perfectly. I was reminded again this morning as I stepped in, turned the shower on and walked under the stream - like zero wait time. Somewhere from my previous review of ratings I saw a few complaints about the sensors not lasting. That has not been my experience - I may have replaced one of the three in five years. This was installed at a time when California was in extreme drought conditions, we were replacing lawns with cactus, I even painted my brown grass green for a yard party so things have changed but I am still saving 100's of gallons of water by using this pump. So yeah, it is a definite five in my book. Previous review: Installed this about a month ago. Initially only used one sensor valve at the master bathroom sink; it worked so well I subsequently bought two more sensor valve kits and installed them on the kitchen sink and laundry room sink. The master bathroom sink is located upstairs and a long way away from the water heater, it took a minimum of 105 seconds before the water felt even a little warm, now it is warm immediately. The master bath shower is located about 5 or so feet away, now I turn on the water and step in - zero wait time, it is already warm enough to at least start my shower. The pump is very quiet, never hear it. The sensor valves make zero noise and I did not bolt them to the wall, they just hang loose. The pump took about 30 minutes to install, mostly because I had to drill a hole in a wall to access an electrical outlet. The sensor valves took maybe ten minutes each. None of this counts the time needed to gather the tools and put down towels etc. I have initially set the pump timer to be activated any time during the day from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM. So far the impact on power consumption is very minimal but the weather has been extremely warm and therefore the pump is not needed for much of the day, the demand may go up during the winter months in which case I will probably set the pump to not function during certain times during the day. ... show more

Adding this pump to our hot water system has provided hot water to the farthest faucet in 10-15 seconds versus 2 and 1/2 minutes before the pump was installed. We have noticed that the floor (slab covered by tile) gets "warm" in areas where the copper plumbing pipes run through the house. When turning on the cold water it isn't as cold as what it was previously. We attribute both of these to heat transfer between the hot water pipes being in close proximity to each other in slab and walls. Part of it is because the heat pump now uses the cold water plumbing as the return line unless you have a dedicated whole house return line.
