I would recommend this cargo box. It worked great for our 2800 mile round trip. No increase in road noise at all and most importantly did not affect the way my vehicle handled in the slightest. It was easy to install and looked and felt very secure. We did experience rather light rains on the drive and noting inside the box seemed to get wet at all. It was also easily removed after my trip. If I had to give a negative it would be that I would like it a bit larger for more cargo storage.

This turned out to be a great choice, an excellent value and worked perfectly on a 1500 mile trip. I was concerned that it wouldn't mount on '18 Kia Soul factory crossbars because they are curved, not flat. The cargo box has enough flexibility to allow it to be mounted without any problems and worked great! It has two 1" square metal strengtheners running front to back between the mounting areas. The locking device is ingenious and I've had no problems with it or the keys. Both work perfectly and it's very secure. It locks positively and won't lock until both latches are exactly in position, that's all you have to do. Mounting was easy but the simplistic diagrams they call instructions warned to get the non-symmetrical U-Bolts vertical, not canted forwards or back. My crossbars are teardrop shaped and thru trial and error I found that the little dimple worked better one way over the other; forward on the front and rearward on the rear, in this case. It has metal hinges and plastic support arms. It's well made and plenty strong all around. It holds quite a lot and made our trip comfortable for three people and a large cooler. The pre-drilled mounting holes were perfect and it came with a sheet of stickers to cover the unused holes for weather proofing. Nothing got inside. It adds a bit of road noise, not bad. It lowers MPG a bit, but not bad and wind direction matters here. You can feel sidewinds a little more too. After a few miles I just forgot about it, mostly, and drove normally including high speed passing. I can't compare this to any other brand as this is my first but I don't imagine there could be much difference. I would buy this again and I think it's a perfect choice for a Soul or many other small cars.

Product does what it is supposed to. I thought it would be easier to load because it opened, hinging on one side. However, it was not. This feature made it more difficult to install because you have to screw in the brackets by leaning all the way across the roof of the car because you cannot access the base from the hinging side. Also, when loading and unloading, it's also difficult to reach that side of the cargo box because it's across the car roof. I'm around 5 feet, so this might be easier for someone taller, but it's difficult to maximize packing if you're on the smaller side. Otherwise, it's slick, easy to put in place and locks tight.

Initially i didn’t receive all the parts & the seller stated to me (via email) they could not get the parts from the manufacturer 🤷♀️. Therefore I ended up using duct tape to seal the holes and keep out water. I was credited 30$ for the lack of parts. I agreed to this bc returning such a large item was impossible for me, at that time. So, first use, my items got wet bc I didn’t realize I was missing parts! Second use seemed to go ok (with my duct tape sealing the open bracket holes). Third “attempted” use a disaster bc I could not lock the unit. The unit was packed and ready to go for third trip but the key would not lock the unit-what a PAIN! After unloading & attempting to clean the locking mechanisms and using WD-40 in hopes of loosing up the key area and locking areas, we finally gave up. We then had to go out and buy a Thule cargo box from car dealership bc we HAD to leave town. I have re-read reviews and found this locking mechanism problem has happened with others. The red plastic piece in locking gear area does not work properly and the key can’t function properly. The locking pieces can not properly articulate/engage rendering the box useless! I reached out to the company via Amazon messaging and Amazon multiple times, with NO (Zero/Zip) response. I have used the product twice and was attempting a third use. I have had it less than a year and each trip totaled 12 hours (round trip). I had some rain on 1 trip. It’s unacceptable to get such minimal use (24 hours) on a 300 dollar product (I think we paid 300 something for this, minus 30$ for lack of parts). We were forced to buy what I could find locally (another 850$) bc we had to leave town and required the cargo box. This is by far the worse purchase and service I had experienced on Amazon. I gave them approximately a month to respond to me and I haven’t heard a word. At a minimum I expected an offer of parts to fix this unit but I got the silent treatment! Apparently it’s a known problem bc I now see other reviews with the same /similar problem. This isn’t a 15$ product therefore i expect some sort of assistance with my issue. DON’T BUY this based on what appears to be a budget friendly price (as I did)! I thought the reviews were good! I’m a bit discouraged with Amazon reviews! I have received offers from various companies offering me discounts, or free products in exchange for good reviews. I don’t know if that’s happening with this product but I do know we wasted approximately 300$ (300$ I really could use now, by the way) and clearly this company could care less about customers’ NEEDS. If you are looking for a “disposable” cargo box & have the money to waste this might be for you. If you are looking for an item that is reliable, just go ahead and buy a Thule; the Thule has a great warranty and did exceptionally well on our trip.This box is going to its final resting place tomorrow. Very frustrating at the lack of response from seller! 😡

I read the reviews and I can say this after a few months with this thing on my 2005 Scion Xb. Wind noise? Actually helped quiet my car a bit as it deflects wind from my roof. Is it like adding a kite on top? Yeah, kinda. It's literally not part of the vehicle aerodynamics. Do I care? Not at all. It barely affects gas mileage for me and it helped get bulky objects out of my trunk that I could hear thudding about every time I would take a corner. I NEVER hear anything when coming to a stop or during acceleration. The hinges are plastic. I've had no trouble with mine like some others, but I also don't FORCE it to shut on something that's too large to fit like oversized luggage. That would be the only reason I could see the latches breaking and this well-built pod popping open on the highway. I've had ZERO problems with this and I use it to haul my full size spare wheel, tire iron, road jack, jumper cables and still have space for more. Plus, I can attest this is built to withstand some serious wind turbulence as I've had major cross-winds at high speeds on my daily drive to and from work and it never had an issue. I did, however, place sound deadening mat between it and my aftermarket roof rails. It's called KilMat and available on Amazon as well. Pros: The lock is awesome, I live in a desert and it gets dusty and have never had a problem with its function. It uses one of those locks that had the grooves in the center of the key so it shouldn't be easy to break into. It will not allow you to lock it or remove the key unless the top is seated properly which for me is a super bonus. Nobody wants a half-latched cargo container. I left the rear open slightly once and it would not let the key cycle. It isn't "weather proof" but the top overlaps the bottom close to 2 inches and even with occasional rain I drive through I don't have a problem like mold or anything like that and I'm sure it would decently protect contents from moisture. Plus if you have a brain you could figure out how to make it seal using thin self-adhering foam insulation without disturbing its functionality. This thing is TOUGH. my windshield takes serious flak from highway rocks daily and this thing doesn't show any signs of scratches or damage whatsoever. Seriously, I've got 50 rock marks on my windshield it's time for a replacement. The material is durable and able to handle the extreme summer we have had this year in Arizona. Had this baby for a few months and not one sign of sun-fade. It arrived within a reasonable time-frame and I'm pretty sure it was early. The box is pretty massive compared to the unit but that is a good thing in my book. I've seen some of the Lund models I was considering on my job and yeah they look very aerodynamic and all.... but they would have barely fit my spare tire. This unit is pretty tall and it may not look "cool" but it meets all my check boxes for quality, reliability and overall satisfaction. Cons: It hasn't given me any problems and has fulfilled all of its required duties so I haven't had to contact customer service so.... I have no idea what that's like. Seriously the box is huge and will take a few recycle pickups to be done with. It's packaged pretty hefty. Putting this in the cons just in case that's a deal breaker for you. But... who could beat their price? I kinda wish they had included a "Max internal storage dimensions" on the page. There are ridges in the bottom for strength but I don't think they affect the storage capacity much.

Very well built, lock system works perfect, traveling over 3000 miles will update later. Install was easy and perfect size for Hyundai Palisades. Looks really good too. UPDATE: trip completed 4,911 miles and this carrier was a solid rock! No problems at all, was like it wasn’t in there. Traveling at 77 + mph for most of the trip perfect. No wind noise, locking system is solid ( keys won’t come out until locked). The side lock is the best, easy access and clam shell cover makes for a tight and secure fit. One good size suitcase, one carry on bag, a duffle bag and jackets all fit well. I did modify the u bolt connectors with some spacers and used lock washers under the thumb screws provided. Carrier never moved an inch. Highly recommend, was perfect for me.

Sleek design. I wish it had metal stays in the bottom as other brands have, however, it is worth the money I spent. It comes with stickers to cover the extra holes. I chose to use hole plugs purchased from my local ACE hardware store to plug the holes (had to drill the holes to accomodate a half-inch plug), and then I covered the plug with black duct tape. Fits on my 2025 Honda CRV. I haven't traveled with it yet, but plan to in October. I will update my review after our next journey. The hinges seem quite sturdy. Traveled from Utah to Illinois in October through several heavy rains. The interior contents stayed dry and clean. I was impressed!

Picture #1 shows my strongest caution. Measure, measure. We installed on a CR-V 2023 Hybrid Touring model vehicle with 19-inch wheels. Garage door clearance leaves about 1-1.5 inch clearance. Picture #3 shows the exterior lock. When first unpacked the lock was stiff. I sprayed WD40 through the lock and the locking mechanisms inside of the box - the result, was smooth operation. Our needs were related to travel, camping, and emergency supplies so a thin profile unit was out of consideration. This unit is as spacious as we needed. Installation tools required; drill, step ladder, patience, and willingness to improvise. The unit comes with predrilled mounting holes for the brackets. Unfortunately for our CR-V, those holes didn't match the Honda-specified rails, so additional rear holes (2) had to be drilled to fit the Honda racks. I would have purchased a Honda car top carrier, however, it was too tall to fit in our garage, this unit clears the open garage door by about 1.5 inches (whew!) - measure, measure. The actual installation is best done with 2 people, one person is constantly back and forth from one side of the vehicle to the other adjusting and tightening mounting brackets. Picture #2 merely illustrates the carrow garage door clearance. Tools for install; 1. Drill with large bit - this is only required if the predrilled mounting holes don't fit with your rack system. 2. Light, the box is black and our garage lighting is all from the ceiling, making it hard to visualize bracket holes, particularly from the driver's side of the vehicle since the opening is only on the passenger side. 3. WD40 - definitely lubricate the locking mechanisms for smoother operation. 4 Short step ladder. I'm short (5'5") and no way can a person my size muscle that unit onto the roof racks without a ladder. This is also a place where an extra pair of hands would be welcome - the unit isn't too heavy, but it's bulky and there are no hand grips. First driving experience. We drove at city speeds (30-40 mph) and the unit is quiet, so quiet you forget that it's there. This brings me to my last bit of advice, No car washes, and watch out for height warnings on-ramp garages and other low clearance drive-thorughs including your garage. Measure, Measure. Hope this is helpful. I would recommend this unit to a friend.
