Installation was simple although, because it only opens on one side, it is hard to reach the tighteners on the far side. It fit 4 duffle bags, a briefcase, and a pair of hiking boots. It didn't reduce gas mileage significantly. It was very quiet. We drove thru heavy rain and the contents stayed dry. It sat outside in sub-zero temps for a few days and when it came to load it for the trip home, the lock was frozen. With a little back and forth with the key I was able to open it. When I went to lock it, the latches would not open enough to accept their counter parts on the lid. I wasted an hour trying to get it to work but gave up. I used ratchet strap which worked beautifully for the 600 mile drive home-very quiet. Once I got home and removed it from the top of my car, I noticed that there are red pins in the seats where the lid latch closes on the base. These need to be depressed in order for the unit to lock and unlock. Apparently these had frozen into place and I had gotten into a situation where the unit was "locked" without the lid in place, the pins had popped up, and I could not "unlock" it. I simply pushed both red pins down with a nail punch and I was able to unlock it. Frustrating but understandable. I'm now ready for my next trip...to sunny Florida. I am not expecting any problems!

Sleek design. I wish it had metal stays in the bottom as other brands have, however, it is worth the money I spent. It comes with stickers to cover the extra holes. I chose to use hole plugs purchased from my local ACE hardware store to plug the holes (had to drill the holes to accomodate a half-inch plug), and then I covered the plug with black duct tape. Fits on my 2025 Honda CRV. I haven't traveled with it yet, but plan to in October. I will update my review after our next journey. The hinges seem quite sturdy. Traveled from Utah to Illinois in October through several heavy rains. The interior contents stayed dry and clean. I was impressed!

Initially i didn’t receive all the parts & the seller stated to me (via email) they could not get the parts from the manufacturer 🤷♀️. Therefore I ended up using duct tape to seal the holes and keep out water. I was credited 30$ for the lack of parts. I agreed to this bc returning such a large item was impossible for me, at that time. So, first use, my items got wet bc I didn’t realize I was missing parts! Second use seemed to go ok (with my duct tape sealing the open bracket holes). Third “attempted” use a disaster bc I could not lock the unit. The unit was packed and ready to go for third trip but the key would not lock the unit-what a PAIN! After unloading & attempting to clean the locking mechanisms and using WD-40 in hopes of loosing up the key area and locking areas, we finally gave up. We then had to go out and buy a Thule cargo box from car dealership bc we HAD to leave town. I have re-read reviews and found this locking mechanism problem has happened with others. The red plastic piece in locking gear area does not work properly and the key can’t function properly. The locking pieces can not properly articulate/engage rendering the box useless! I reached out to the company via Amazon messaging and Amazon multiple times, with NO (Zero/Zip) response. I have used the product twice and was attempting a third use. I have had it less than a year and each trip totaled 12 hours (round trip). I had some rain on 1 trip. It’s unacceptable to get such minimal use (24 hours) on a 300 dollar product (I think we paid 300 something for this, minus 30$ for lack of parts). We were forced to buy what I could find locally (another 850$) bc we had to leave town and required the cargo box. This is by far the worse purchase and service I had experienced on Amazon. I gave them approximately a month to respond to me and I haven’t heard a word. At a minimum I expected an offer of parts to fix this unit but I got the silent treatment! Apparently it’s a known problem bc I now see other reviews with the same /similar problem. This isn’t a 15$ product therefore i expect some sort of assistance with my issue. DON’T BUY this based on what appears to be a budget friendly price (as I did)! I thought the reviews were good! I’m a bit discouraged with Amazon reviews! I have received offers from various companies offering me discounts, or free products in exchange for good reviews. I don’t know if that’s happening with this product but I do know we wasted approximately 300$ (300$ I really could use now, by the way) and clearly this company could care less about customers’ NEEDS. If you are looking for a “disposable” cargo box & have the money to waste this might be for you. If you are looking for an item that is reliable, just go ahead and buy a Thule; the Thule has a great warranty and did exceptionally well on our trip.This box is going to its final resting place tomorrow. Very frustrating at the lack of response from seller! 😡
