  • Great pan!
Great value! Was debating between this and a similar Lodge branded one, but I’m glad I went with this. The finish feels higher quality and the handle is much more comfortably shaped. This is my first cast iron pan, and it’s pretty easy to maintain, you just have to get used to the process. I did an extra round of seasoning in the oven when I first received it, and since then I’ve cooked eggs and steak. I haven’t had to use more than a small tiny bit of dish soap, and not even after every use. My one gripe is that the silicon handle cover is a bit loose so it isn’t the best in terms of fit and comfort of use, but it was essentially a free gift, so I can’t really count it as a flaw. It’s fine to use in a pinch, but I usually have some oven mitts nearby. ... show more

  • You can’t go wrong with Victoria cast-iron!
In my opinion, you can never go wrong with the Victoria cast-iron. The box arrived in was a little bit beat up, which was disappointing because it was for a wedding gift. However, the recipient was thrilled with the gift and I purchased this because I own Victoria cast-iron and it’s simply wonderful to cook with. I choose it over other high-quality brands because of the long handles. ... show more

  • Part review, mostly tips for use!
I use cast iron for 95% of my cooking, and I cook A LOT! I bought this set as part of a gift for a friend who has been showing interest in cast iron after seeing my daily driver and falling in love with how it looks (a Victoria dia de los muertos 12" that I keep hanging by my stove). He mentioned wanting to try cast iron but had always been told it was difficult to maintain so never bought one(it's not hard but there is a lot of disinformation!). This set arrived in great condition, no bumps or flaws in the casting and it looks like it will perform fantastically. The addition of the handle cover is perfect for the new CI user since the handle gets as hot as the cooking surface. If this works like my own pan, im sure it will perform well in the kitchen. Tip for cast iron use: don't worry about seasoning too much, its more for rust protection rather than non stick ability. Clean the pan thoroughly with soap and water, dry it off (dont let it air dry) heat it on the stove for 1 minute if you have the time and then rub a very small amount of oil on it with a paper towel or rag. When I say small, i mean put some on and make sure it coats.. then try to rub it all off like it was a mistake. The oil stops rust from forming and keeps it looking fresh if you're displaying it. The non stick properties come mostly from your cooking technique, not some finicky nonstick seasoning... preheat the pan before a few minutes before adding food and keep the flame med-low with a little fat or oil and your pan will do it's job well(i use 3-5 stove settting out of 10 for most things except searing a steak). Look up deglazing to help clean stubborn food, don't shy away from the occasional steel wool, and absolutely get a chain mail sponge. I use a wooden or fish spatula most of the time during deglazing with a little water, medium heat, and a bit of scraping. Then I hit it with a scrub daddy, rinse, dry, wipe with a rag and oil, and hang it back up. 3-5 minutes of time and I have a beautiful kitchen centerpiece and amazingly durable, functional pan wrapped into one that will last the rest of my life and more. These pans are hands down some of the best value for money you can get when it comes to kitchen tools. They will last forever, they will cook incredibly, and they really are essentially impossible to ruin for the average user. 10/10 recommended to anyone looking to up their cooking skills ... show more

  • Good value
Good quality, heavy, it built up a good patina very quickly. A bit more of a hassle to maintain than a steel pan but worth the effort imo.
