  • Very Fast! Reliable
Capacity: 240GB
I didn't like using and external hard disk with a spinning disk, as it took 2-4 times longer to read/write to it as to my internal SSD on my Apple Mac. Lot of $ to get an entry level Mac with only 124 GB of memory. Adding this works extremely fast and reliable. Shows as an external drive. Has USB-A and USB-C cables. Warm when in use. ... show more

  • should be 0 stars - what terrible write speeds
Capacity: 480GB
This thing consistently has the worst data write speeds and is so slow - it can read just fine but when writing data it drops to 30mb/s - INSANELY low when it should be at least 400mb/s. BUY ANYTHING ELSE. The thermal throttling is horrendous . THIS IS JUNK

  • Good, but thermal throttling an issue for some.
Capacity: 120GB
I like this dinky little Verbatim 120GB Vx500. It's small, light, easily fits into a jacket pocket, and is useful for dumping files on and off with ease. In fact, my only issue came when stress testing large-file transfers. I didn't keep exact track, but certainly before 50GB of data was written to it the drive thermally throttled itself massively. It dropped to slower than a regular hard drive at this point - for writing data. Read speeds were still excellent at this point, at around 420MB/s on my 2014 Mac mini over USB 3.0. But write speeds plummeted from ~365MB/s to anywhere between 45-70MB/s. I captured a few screenshots, attached to this review. The drive was quite warm at this point. After letting the drive idle a little bit, normal speed resumed, but bear this in mind if you intend to be writing massive amounts of data to this drive in short bursts. Again, read speeds were unaffected, which is good! Overall, this is a great drive. The only issue is the throttling one, but for most people this should be a non-issue. 4 out of 5. Good. ... show more

  • Super fast way to store a ton of data
Capacity: 120GB
When those memory sticks aren't enough, you've got 120GB of storage in a tiny device. It's really slim with a very appealing rough stainless finish, and works immediately copying files in no time. So fast, in fact, i had to double check to make sure they really copied! Of course, you only get these speeds if your laptop has a USB3.1 port on it - if plugged into an older port, this will be VERY slow. Only downside that there is a small cable you have to carry around - it's not built into the device. It would have been nice if the USB cable/connector was somehow integrated into the design. ... show more

  • Super fast drive with USB and USB-C
Capacity: 120GB
This drive is super fast. I have been using it for my video editing projects. I don't always want to be stuck at a desk when some days i want to chill and recline on my laptop. Using this drive i can xfer all my files to and from the computers with fast speed. The drive is fairly small and its thin too. It comes with 3.0 usb as well as a usb-c cable. So this works great for both my computers. Most of my videos are around 3gb each so with this drive at 120gb i can store quite a lot of videos. The xfer speeds were really fast and really beats uploading and downloading from the cloud. I use mac so the free software that it comes with (Nero) doesn't apply to me so I cannot comment on it. I know that regular thumb drives that are 128gb are only about 35 bucks but they aren't able to plug in via usb-c nor do they have the high speed xfer speeds like this which are up to 500mbps. Also its SSD which from what i've researched is better memory than a flash drive. But I 'm no expert just something i've read. ... show more

  • Exactly what I needed
Capacity: 120GB
I wanted a device to keep my personal files, some music, etc on - I don't like to store personal stuff on my work laptop. Yes, yes, I know, everyone uses the Cloud these days, and I do too, but my job limits the personal stuff you can get to from the office. This device is exactly what I wanted. It's plenty big enough for anything I need to do, it's tiny and practically weightless so carrying it around in my backpack isn't an issue, it doesn't need a power adapter (runs on USB), and it's completely silent. Other big pros are that it just works - there's really nothing to install or do, just plug it in and bingo, you see it as a drive on your device - and it's dead quiet. I saw another review that it would run a bit hot, but I haven't experienced that at all, but then I'm probably not loading it down. Great device for a great price. ... show more

  • Works well for me, looks good and has been very stable. Great for video
Capacity: 120GB
I have to transfer a lot of video from one computer to another and these download speeds as another mentioned Via USB C are great and fast. This drive can be carried in a pocket and although it's not small like a thumb drive, it is small enough. The idea isn't necessariy I think for this to replace a thumb drive as much as be an alternate to one due to being solid state with it's excellent stability and fast speeds. It has been a workhorse for me for a month now with usage about 4x a week. ... show more

  • Works fine but gets HOT.
Capacity: 120GB
And I mean really hot! I can't even touch it when it's plugged in, let alone when data is being transferred. Still, it's super fast. My computer recognizes it and opens it immediately after plugging it in, and data transfers extremely quickly. Helps that my USB port is USB 3.0 as well. The color is nice, but the metal is a bit too glossy for being matte. The cable is very short but works fine enough for me. Just be warned that you can't touch this when it's being used! ... show more
