I have a connective tissue disorder which makes sleeping fairly painful. I like the idea of pillows that have this 'valley' shape that slopes down to allow the head to dip, keeping the neck straighter and supported, but most ones I've tried have been so hard as to be worse than sleeping without a pillow. The foam in this one is squishy enough that it doesn't fight my joints and actually lets me sink in to the shape of the pillow, while still giving enough structure to not put all of the pressure on to my shoulder as I sleep on my side. This pillow is long enough that it sticks out of my pillow case a little, which is annoying. It would also be nice if each 'bump' was differently sized so I could flip the pillow to meet my changing support needs night to night and have even more customizability with the removable center foam. I still find myself feeling like it doesn't quite meet the mark but every other pillow I try sets me up for migraines, and the fact this helps me avoid that awful pain is a huge compliment to it's design. If you feel like a lot of side-sleep pillows are too hard or too thick, definitely give this one a shot. ... show more

I previously owned very basic pillows I believe they were feather but I’m not 100% sure all I know is they got super flat and lost cushion fast while giving me horrible neck pain in the mornings. I wanted to get the more fancy ones, I’m sure you know which ones I mean. Obviously, I didn’t because I wanted something more affordable and that didn’t cost $100 for each pillow. I did more research and found these which had good reviews and just thought why not try them since they were an excellent price, I purchase two and WOW! The first time I slept on these were amazing. It was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. The curve is really nice if you’re a side sleeper, the pillow is what id say “cupping” your neck. Which helps with no awkward sleeping positions. This is the better of the three memory foam pillows that I purchased. I purchased another pillow from a seller on Amazon that was a completely different type of pillow (even though it is also made of “memory foam”, it is shredded and not a “contour” pillow. I purchased a different contour pillow from Macy’s and they sent me the wrong product; I had intended for this pillow (the one that I am reviewing) to be my contour pillow, and the pillow from Macy’s was not supposed to be contoured, but they sent me the contour pillow anyway—so now I have that contour pillow to compare this one to. That pillow is smaller, and even though it is advertised as being “oversized”, it is too small for (it does not fill) my standard size pillowcases); thus, the pillowcase slips off. The pillow from Macy’s was listed with the retail price of $139; however, the one that they sent me (that I purchased for $23, so it was supposedly a Black Friday super markdown “deal”) and I found the same pillow on Amazon for $23, at $89 retail (so I am assuming that Amazon is correctly listing the suggested retail price, whereas Macy’s inflated the retail price in order to give the impression that it was a “crazy good deal” or that it was a “bargain that could not be refused” for potential buyers and window-shoppers during the Black Friday and “cyber Monday” season of consuming. This pillow (the one that I am reviewing) is far superior to the one that I had gotten “such an amazing deal on” from the Macy’s Black Friday sale. It is similar in its design, but larger and slightly firmer (it feels higher quality, like it will last longer; and it also stays just as cool as any memory foam pillow I have ever tried (including the “high end” brand makes and models, even those that boast being exclusively made of Eucalyptus Lyocell, those sold by or marketed alongside the hipster-chic and “eco-conscious”, “humanely” or “ethically manufactured” (that claim to be, and hopefully that actually are, but advertising copy can sometimes mislead—even when coming from these supposedly ethical (and certainly upscale) brands. This memory foam contour pillow (the one that I am reviewing) feels as good as Eucalyptus lyocell (it is made of rayon; this pillow is—viscose from bamboo, it is the same process being done to bamboo as is done to Eucalyptus to make the pulp that is viscose that makes rayon—so it does feel the same; it is just that the sustainability factor is not really discussed at all by brands that do not appeal strongly to the eco-chic upscale consumer bracket. I give this pillow a five-star rating in all categories in this review, because it is better than I expected; it is what it is (what it says it ys) and it does not claim to be ethical, sustainable, or revolutionary in terms of its place on the spectrum of memory foam pillows to try. It does not make the claim that this is “healthy” memory foam (there really is no such thing, considering what memory foam actually is). This is a decent pillow. After a couple days testing this pillow, I noticed my ear cartilage felt warm and sensitive throughout the morning. I also struggled to settle into a comfortable position. My bed is medium firmness. I'm tall with a long neck and felt the larger side to curve my cervical spine slightly upwards. This pillow is three soft foam sections cut to lay together. It is great for sleeping on your side or back. It doesn't lose its shape. The one I received did smell like cigarette smoke as well as the outside cover. Once I washed the outside cover & let the foam breathe for a day, the smell went away. This pillow is great, it does have an initial smell to it, but I put it in my dryer on air fluff, leaving the cloth cover on it, and used an unscented dryer sheet and a Trader Joes Lavendar dryer bag, which does not leave an odor on the pillow. This pillow is amazing. The second I tried it I knew that it would be perfect. I have a military neck (no curve in my neck) and this pillow has helped so much with pain & comfort throughout the night. I love that it has a removable layer, without the middle it’s perfect for me!
