The media could not be loaded. Quick review on this Ultrean Air Fryer, 9 Quart 6-in-1 Electric Hot XL Air Fryer Oven Oilless Cooker. It is named the Large Family Size for a reason. Pros - packed very well. In fact the inside product box appeared to have been dropped and was damaged inside the amazon reshipper box. No worries, the item is securely packed in customized styrofoam and bagged. Digital display is really intuitive and easy to use and read . The timer starts counting down from 59 seconds. The display is big and responds quickly. I did not use the presets, but it was really easy to program. There is an audible series of beeps when the timer is complete. After a short time the unit shuts down automatically. Big capacity - the basket is really large which allows you to cook and reheat a large quantity of food at one time. Fan noise - was very low - I was surprised that it wasn't louder - which is a plus. Watch video to hear for yourself. Recipe book - the unit came with a full-color recipe book with 50 recipes. Did not get a chance to use it, but the first listed recipe was bacon! Cons - the unit seems to run a bit hot (see comments below) Size - this is clearly a trade off on what is most important for you and your family. I wanted the bigger capacity to help speed meal prep for the family, but this unit is tall and wide. The cabinet where I was going to house it was wide and deep enough, but at over 14" tall, the shelf position did not have clearance. it is also too tall to fit on our counter under our cabinets. So it looks like I'll need to find space or make some room in the pantry closet. Notes: You need to "break in" the unit before cooking with it. After washing the basket and grill with soapy hot water, the instruction book suggests using some lemon slices and starting the unit in a well-ventilated area and having your windows open. You will run it thru two 5-minute cycles. During the second cycle, there was a burning smell - so make sure you plan ahead and do this in advance of using the fryer to prep and serve your first meal. The silicone "tabs" on the grill require a bit of effort to push down in place. This is required so if you turn the basket over to remove your food (e.g. french fries) the grill stays in place and you don't have a 375 degree grill falling onto you, your counter or floor. It you insert and seat it at an angle it's much easier. Registration - at the time of this review, there was a product registration card for 1 year free product replacement insurance. The process was fast and simple (just need your amazon order number) and they even offered a reward to follow them on some social media sites. Temperature - I heated up some frozen tacos and fish sticks and used the recommended air fryer temperature - 400 degrees. I halved the cook time so I could flip them midway through. I sprayed the food very slightly with olive oil from my Misto sprayer. In this use, the unit appeared to be a little too hot. I tried a second round and I took the temp down to 375 with a similar result - so it may be running a bit hot, or because it was fully pre-heated, the cook time should have been reduced. I suggest you start at a lower temp (at least 25 degrees less) to get a feel for your preferences. Overall, the unit appears solid and well made, the operation is easy and intuitive, and the size makes it family friendly. This is our first air-fryer, so we did our research looking for a balance of good features and good price. And the Ultrean 7 quart air fryer is the choice! What features should you be seeking in ANY air-fryer? 1- Capacity! Our research had located some 4 to 5 quart models from Ninja and other companies including Ultrean. Many folks commented that it would’ve been nice with the smaller ones if they could hold an entire full bag of steak fries, onion rings, etc. Hence the upgrade to 7-qt which increases capacity by about 70% (you better check my mental math on that as I’m from Wisconsin 🤣). 2- Easy to clean! One reason to get an air fryer is to save you your valuable free time right? So a quick cleanup is essential and the nonstop stick surface of the basket makes clean up a breeze. Many times when I’m just making fries I only have to wipe it down with a paper towel and it technically would be ready to go. But if you folks are a little bit more of sticklers when it comes to cleanliness, you can quickly hand wash this since it won’t be very greasy or you could run through your dishwasher. HINT: I wipe down the basket as soon as it cools but before any oil has time to reharden! 3- Cooking power/speed! The 7 quart Ultrean air fryer … I believe … has 1700 cooking watts. Now stop for a moment and compare that cooking power to whatever microwave you’re using in your apartment or home. Most of us have a microwave that is somewhere around 900 to 1100 W. This baby cooks fast! We have knocked out an entire bag of pretty thick steak fries in 15 minutes. We cooked two large turkey legs in under 20 minutes! Things that we cook in this model air fryer take about half the amount of time that they would heating up our big oven in the kitchen. And during the summertime the last thing I want to do is to be running my hot oven for twice as long heating up my house which then means my air conditioner has to run more so it’s just waste, waste, waste … except when you use this awesome Ultrean air fryer! 4- Stylish design! Being a guy, I was surprised at how much I found the Ultrean 7 quart air fryer to be a good looking design. Much to its complement, it doesn’t really look like many other models out on the market. It has a square basket with rounded corners to increase capacity, and the outside has a angled display screen so it’s very easy to see almost from anywhere in the kitchen with large numbers. A couple of other evaluators on Amazon commented negatively about the “end of cycle” tones which beeps five times. First of all it only beeps five times so it’s over in like five seconds, right? Secondarily, I don’t know about you, but in my busy household many times I get pulled away to answer a phone or somebody’s got a scraped knee, or the laundry went off in the basement … so I actually appreciate having those tons be loud enough that I don’t have to sit there and babysit the silly air fryer. But maybe that’s just me? 5- Warrany! If I’m not mistaken, the Ultrean 7 quart air fryer automatically comes with a full one-year warranty so that if you’re concerned that maybe you haven’t heard of this brand or you need to fit in with some fancy friends by buying the more expensive Ninjas and things like that, I believe Ultrean implies that they will swap out with almost no questions asked if you have already registered your product and then you call up with a significant problem that they can’t solve over the phone. HINT: I was still a little bit cautious since this is our first air fryer so I noticed that Amazon also had some add-on insurance that you could opt to get either to extend your coverage out to … I want to say 3 to 4 years? I opted for the three-year plan … I wanna say maybe it was nine dollars? I thought for peace of mind and if this thing is covered for three years … as much as I anticipate we will use it … that’s a good investment even if we never have to use the insurance.
