First of all.. This type of system is not going to replace a standalone receiver with a 10" sub and speaker components. I use such a system in our theater room and it sounds much better than this but it cost 4x as much and involved hours of wiring and mounting. THIS, on the other hand, is muuuuch better than TV speakers and was sooo easy to hook up and get going. Everything beyond the main speaker is wireless in terms of sound delivery (you still need power run to each component). It is so great for a living room type situation.. The bass isnt going to shake the house but it certainly adds a missing layer. The surround sound feels gimmicky like its just stereo and the volume is adjusted. However, again, this blows TV speakers out of the water. I watched a dolby atmos video on YouTube and it sounded fantastic but that type of separation hasn't been noticed in any other content I've watched. The dialogue is always nice and clear (which is sometimes an issue with these types of things in my experience). It worked seemlessly with my fire tv remotes after zero configuration. After unboxing it took all of 5 minutes to set up. truly plug and play.. sounds better than a similar but smaller and slightly cheaper, visio system I have. If your expectations are right you'll be highly satisfied with this product. It's not going to effectively replace a true surround system but that is not it's purpose. It's an intermediary with a small footprint that you can easily blend into a living/bed room aesthetic and greatly improve your viewing experience, assuming you were using TV speakers. I had never used or heard of this brand but it does well. Seems well made. As others have said the packaging is high end. I watched the fed ex dude body slam it onto my front porch but all was well. ... show more

Installed in my pool cabana. Exceeded all expectations. Very happy with the quality of this soundbar with wireless sub and wireless surround speakers. Packaging was extremely well done and arrived on time with no defects. Installation took only a few minutes. I literally had it up and running in 5 minutes. The app is very intuitive and provides additional controls including BT. Sound: terrific bass response. Up-firing Atmos speakers work well if the room has an appropriate ceiling to allow for sound redirection. Surround speakers also provide good balance but could improve slightly at lower frequencies. The left and right front speakers on the sound bar itself don’t quite have the spread of a separate system but this is a soundbar so that is to be expected. Center channel speaker provides clear dialogue without any adjustments to audio delay. It perfect right out of the box. Sound parameters can be tweaked with the app’s graphical EQ but the app does lack some precision to make more precise changes. The app also has auto settings for music, movie, etc… but the standard Music setting was not subjectively optimized so I did tweak it to meet my preferences. Overall the X 40 was a superb value and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. So much so that I have recommended it to my friends who were also impressed with the sound quality and functionality. Thank you to the team at Ultimea. What can I say other than WOW. I am BEYOND impressed with the X40. I've had multiple "surround" systems over the years, I'm talking big name companies, and each of them have required lots of EQ tuning. Not the X40. Set-up is as simple as pulling this thing out of the box, which is probably the best packaging I've ever seen for sound equipment, and plugging the speakers in. For me, this was wall mounting it below the TV for the complete wireless aesthetic, and mounting the rear speakers on the wall behind my couch. Can't forget the woofer, which I just placed off to the side, adjacent the couch. The black with gold trim looks premium, which matches the feel of the devices as well. I'm serious, this thing truly is plug and play! If you're anti-app, the remote control that comes with it can do everything you want it to do. From controlling the Surround volume, Up-Firing volume, Up-mix (creates a surround effect for non surround content), Bass level, EQ presets, everything. I'm an app person, so I downloaded the Ultimea app for control, which has great functionality, unlike many of the other apps I've used with sound equipment. If you're new to home theater equipment / sound bars, a bit of advice would be taking advantage of the HDMI EARC port on the soundbar. It's far superior to the optical port, and makes for seamless control with your TV, utilizing CEC (1 remote controls both TV and soundbar). Most TV's have a dedicated HDMI port for EARC (audio passthrough for speakers), and it's normally HDMI 3, but this can vary, so check your TV. It's normally labeled at the port. Once you've plugged in there, you may have to go into your TV's settings menu and enable EARC, but after that, it's smooth sailing! I would absolutely recommend the X40 to anyone wanting to upgrade their set-up. If you want your room to feel like a theater, you cannot beat this for the price. At less than $500, the X40 has no competitor. I mean you're getting true Dolby Atmos for that price! And if you haven't experienced Atmos before, you have no clue what you're missing... ... show more

I’m very impressed with the ULTIMEA Skywave X40. The setup was quick and straightforward, and it connected to my TV without any issues. Very easy setup. Wireless surround speakers and subwoofer only require power connection. No wires from sound bar to Subwoofer or Rear Speakers. Earc from TV to sound bar signals system to turn on and the room is filled with sound. TV remote controls Soundbar volume when active. The display is hidden after a few seconds, but is difficult to read unless looking straight on. I would rather have a Standby/Power LED that was visible at all times. Ot would also be preferable to have Dolby Surround indicator when active instead of the brief display. The APP paired easily with the Soundbar, but occasionally loses the bluetooth link. It is not intuitive to customize the preset sound profiles and there seems to be now way to adjust speaker volumes for listening position. One final note: While the Ultimea products seem to have good value and quality for their price range, they should show their output power in RMS terms. Only listing PEAK Power or IPP ratings gives the impression of cheap knockoff products. Divide the peak power by 3 to compare to high end systems. ... show more

Sounds quality is great. Really enjoying it. Remote did not work out of the bix. My TV was able to at least turn it off, on and volume, but could not access the other features. I thought to see if they had an app and they did. After I downloaded the app, I chose the X40 model and it began uploading a firmware update. After about 5 minutes, it was completed and the remote worked just fine. Other than that, the installation was so easy. The sub and surround speakers are pre paired at the factory. I could use a little more volume from the surround speakers, but they will do the job as is. There are speakers on the front and top of the bar. Those top speakers add a surprising subtle dimension to the overall sound. I would have given it 5 stars had the remote worked without me having to figured it out myself. I am a retired network engineer, I love technical gadgetry that WORKS! Also, being a serious audiofile from the 70's I'm here to tell you that I love the sound this Skywave X40 produces. I'm writing this review a couple months after using this soundbar every day. It demonstates Dolby Atmos as it's meant to sound. But hey, it was so easy to set up, It's 100% wireless. (high 5!) I'm able to manage it with their android app, and I can easily customize the sound (a lot) if I choose to. Ultimea got it right out of the box. I'm seriously telling and SHOWING all my friends. I mean it, I couldn't recommend this Skywave X40 any higher for the price point value, the technical value and the great (better than expected) Dolby Atmos sound.
