  • Awesome ski hitch rack
We LOOVE this hitch rack. We have fit 4 sets of skis and 2 snowboards for one trip. Snowboards fit back to back and 1 additional set of skis can fit next to them or 3 sets of skis on each side. It was wobbly at first but with some adjusting we got it to hold tight and not wobble. At first I was worried about road muck and had wrapped the bindings in towels but after a few trips I don’t do that now. I just wipe them done when we get back. They really don’t get that dirty unless you are traveling on really wet roads. There are 2 separate keys so be mindful where you keep them. We used cut up pieces of pool noodles to create a bumper between skis so we could fit them all in tight and they wouldn’t bump into each other. It’s heavy and I (a women) do not have the strength needed to lift it into the hitch so my husband has to do that. I could probably lift it if I took the top section apart and then assembled it after the bottom was in but in 20° weather who wants to do that…so keep that in mind. If a roof box isn’t an option for you this is a great and much less expensive option. $270 compared to a $700 roof box! We love it! ... show more

  • Great ski and snowboard carrier
Used it twice and it worked flawless. Read that some people complain ski are too low in the carrier, not sure if they know but you can adjust how high your ski are in the carrier by almost a foot. During use skies were doing great and we loved it. They will get your skies out of your car to free up space for ski boots. Negative: 1. You will need to use your naked hands in cold to open and close this carrier. 2. It's not very fast operation, only used it twice so learning curve but still will take you a few minutes to load and unload. After a few times probably around 10 minutes 3. Left to right this carrier is rock solid but back and forth there is movement. There is however ready solution for around $15 you can get hitch stabilizer. 4. There is bolt to lock in up position or unlock to allow back door access, it's not quick release mechanism you will need to srew the locking bolt it and out on loading and after unloading to get you staff from the trunk. Overall great buy if you doing have or don't want your ski on top of the car. ... show more

  • A decent product that feels 80% finished.
Everything works and functional as advertised. But it just feels 80% finished overall. The "unfinished" parts are (1) locking knobs, (2) securing straps, and (3) protective pads with adhesives. For (1), those locking knobs should have quick releases. Making so many turns just to lock & unlock them becomes tedious and irritable...when it's very cold out there. For (2), the securing straps just look so "DIY". I have bike racks that have securing straps that are functional and easy to put on and take off. For (3), those protective pads with adhesives are a joke. They are not wide enough to cover up the entire space between two posts, and they leave a gap that a ski/board can still scrap/scratch the meal posts. Furthermore, the weak adhesive didn't last 2 trips being exposed to cold/wet/icy conditions for hours. ... show more

  • Works great
Works great. Just wish that I did not have to deal with the staps to hold the boards tight. Not as secure as I would have thought. The 2 locking bars can be taken off by unscrewing 4 knobs so I have to put an extra bike lock around it. It stays solid in the tow hitch without movement.

  • Works well, but requires the use of straps to keep everything in place
I chose this stand instead of a roof rack because I already have a tow hitch, but don't have crossbars on my car. This rack works really well, but you have to make sure you secure your skis/board with the provided straps (or your own) to make sure they don't bounce around - the rack itself doesn't completely stop them from moving. It may also be a problem for those with longer skis. The bottom of the skis may be able to hit the ground if you're going over a dip in the road...say, from a road into a driveway. ... show more

  • OK product
I use this on a Toyota Prius as an alternative of a top rack. Works well except for the following issues: 1. The bolt that secures the rack to the hitch gets loose over time while driving and the rack becomes wobbly. This makes me feel very uneasy. I needed to stop and tighten it three times during a 6 hours trip; 2. It can't be adjusted upwards enough so longer skis (180cm) would hit the ground if secured as recommended. I had to move the skis up in such a way that the stretch where the binding is was secured into the slid between the two horizontal bars. Since the binder is thicker I had to carry each ski adjacent to each other rather than against each other. In result I could carry only two pairs of ski (the 180cm and another shorter), not three, on one side of the rack. ... show more

  • Perfect Ski Rack
This is a really great ski rack that does it all. It is pretty heavy but its very sturdy and rugged and handles the extra weight no problem. Can easily fit up to 3 boards and 1 set of skis (or 4 boards), and could probably have fit another set of skis with 3 boards. Very good value ski rack that I highly recommend. The only complaint is that its a little rickety and noisy when its empty and the window is down, but besides that its worth money. ... show more

  • Quality and Tough product
I originally wanted a roof rack, but that was going to cost thousands since I didn't have rails already. I didn't trust the roof racks that clamp on your door/window well. So I found this product with great reviews and had a tow hitch installed on my car instead. The hitch and rack cost under $500 total. Super pleased with its performance, sturdiness and ease of use. ... show more
