Steam cleaners like this one are designed to heat water to a certain temperature, and that high temperature allows a surface to be disinfected fairly quickly—in about 10-15 seconds, a difference from the 5-10 minute wet dwell time required by a disinfectant product. Steam also helps remove nasty messes that require a lot of scrubbing and product (which can damage the surface). It's pretty cool, I must say! Now, keep in mind that these are high-end steam cleaners that heat up just as quickly and clean and disinfect surfaces more quickly thanks to their superior technology. However, for home use, a consumer product like this is perfect. I highly recommend them ... show more
