Basic wiring for installation. Recommend install at coil location with the most biological issues. Mine required hole drilled to be placed under coil, but many others will be better suited above coil.

I have a goodman air handler, and it has a knock-out in the evaporator coil, specifically for a UV light. I was hoping I could make this work, but the best I could do was use the magnet to stick it to the side. While the magnet is fairly strong, the evaporator coil casing is thin sheet metal, so the magnet doesn't grab it compared to the actual air handler casing (Heavier gauge metal). This means that the magnet doesn't hold it good enough for my taste, and I would worry about it falling and breaking the quartz glass. I don't really attribute this to this UV light, really it's more of a fact that any magnet type product will not work very well for my particular casing. ... show more

The Turbro Double UV light kit comes with everything pictured and is easy to install once you figure out where it should go. I did a lot of digging online to find the attached picture showing the proper placement. It is important to have it installed in the Evaporator (A Coil) plenum so all that light can hit that coil and disinfect it. That is the absolute mail goal of this product. To kill microbes that mess with your allergies. Once you locate that plenum and the open area above it you'll need to mark or tape it off so you can get a good second look at where your about to drill those big holes. Measure twice/Cut once!!. Past that installation is easy. I'm still trying to figure out how to power it with the unit so it's not always on. But I've also read that it should be on during all AC usage months (buildup of those microbes happen when that A-Coil is covered in condensation just like your shower does). There was no ozone smell and these bulbs are in the correct 253.7 nm short-wave ultraviolet light range which is safe. Order with confidence. ... show more

Back when Covid started I really wanted to get a UV sterilizing light, but they were impossible to find because of high demand. We have several friends who had a contractor come in and install a device similar to this one, but the cost was kind of high. I installed this not just for COVID, but because it also can interfere with mold spores and kill bacteria and viruses that cause colds and sniffles in the winter. This is a complete kit that contains a hole saw, sealing gaskets. a template, mounting screws and the main controller assembly with two bulbs. This is actually a reasonable DIY project for the homeowner that's handy because it's fairly easy to cut through the thin material used in constructing ducts, plenum, etc. Just pay attention to the instructions and avoid looking at the light; turn it on at the end when everything is buttoned up. It was fairly easy to drill the hole and mount the controller on the side of our plenum chamber immediately downstream of the intake filter. That chamber was the ideal spot for me because it afforded the required clearances. I now have an excellent UV source to sterilize the air in my HVAC system and it cost a lot less than having someone else install one. Between MERV-13 filters and this UV light I trust my air is as clean as possible. ... show more

I've had other UV lights that were only single bulb or had no indicator LED's to show if the bulbs are working and this has both indicator lights and dual bulbs. This really does the trick of keeping mold from forming on the AC coils and fan. Think of it as sterilizing the air that passes through the vent. This came with a hole saw cutter and template so you can install it yourself with ease. This is a quality unit, you can see and feel how well it is made. My only gripe is I wish it had the sensor (that some have) that when your AC unit comes on the UV light turns on and off with the system by sensing the air movement in the vent. I'm not deducting a star because the description did not say it's an automatic unit. It will just stay on 24/7 unless you put it on a timer or hard wire it to your unit. I've been wanting to install a UV light sterilization lamp in my home HVAC for a while, so I decided to try this one out. It appears to be well-made. It was relatively easy to install with basic tools. I like that it has the green light indicator to let you know the bulbs are working.
