Description

The Tuff-Guard is a 50-foot kink-proof garden hose assembly with 5/8" male and female Garden Hose Thread (GHT) connections for use in watering and wash-down applications. The garden hose has a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) tube for increased flexibility and easy maneuvering around the garden, and its internal braided core is made out of two-ply spiral polyester fiber for added strength. A polypropylene double helix coils around the hose’s exterior for dimensional stability that helps resist kinking and crushing to maintain full water pressure while compressed. The double helix design also helps protect the hose from abrasion, is weather resistant, and weighs less than traditional hoses for easier portability. Heavy-duty brass ferrules connect the garden hose to its end connectors. The ferrules are internally expanded instead of crimped to the hose to preserve its 5/8" internal diameter for optimum water flow and to prevent leakage. The garden hose has a male GHT connection on one end for attaching sprayers or sprinklers and a female GHT connection on the opposite end of the hose for connecting to male-threaded water spigots. The connectors’ machined brass provides corrosion resistance and strength to prevent crushing, and their design permits wrench tightening and loosening. The garden hose has a maximum working pressure of 100 pounds per square inch (psi), a burst pressure of 300 psi, and a vacuum rating of 29 inches of mercury (inHg). It has a temperature range of -20 degrees F to 158 degrees F and comes with a one-year warranty for workmanship and material defects. This Tuff-Guard extra flexible garden hose is suitable for use in lawn watering applications, wash- down tasks at worksites or home residences, and various other uses. • Expensive, but great hose [Still no problems after 2-3 years]
Color: Blue Size: 50 Feet
The Tuff-Gard Perfect Garden Hose is what it says it is. Best hose I've ever tried or seen. It is very lightweight, even when full of water. It is extremely flexible and simply will not kink. It is very tough and cannot easily be crimped or crushed (which is why it won't kink). It coils up easily when putting it away. The only "downside" is that it is expensive compared to most hoses. But, since it saves you from fighting with the hose when you have "chores" to do, it can be likened to using a cheap off-brand NiCad cordless drill vs. a higher quality, higher voltage Lithium-ion cordless drill. If you are only going to use it once or twice, the cheaper model may suffice. But if you repeatedly use your cordless drill, you want a fast-charging Lith-ion, hi-torque drill that will be more expensive. Same goes for this hose: if you just need to use a hose once or twice a year, maybe the cost is not worth it (though, easy-storage of this easy-coil hose is a virtue that everyone would take advantage of year-round). But if you use it all the time for a variety of jobs, it definitely is worth the expense. If you transport it to other locations on a regular basis (in a car, truck, etc.), it is definitely worth the time-savings and hastle-savings of coiling it and heaving it neatly and compactly into your vehicle. Easy to store, not a chore to coil it up, won't kink under any circumstances. I used this hose with my pressure washer, and it was great. Very easy to pull the pressure washer around, without having to drag a heavy hose behind it. No leaks at all. Some reviewers complain of fittings coming off or leaking. The attachment of the fittings to the hose ends is obviously a more complex issue (compared to standard rubber hose) due to the corrugated nature of the hose material. I'm guessing that is why some failures have occurred. I believe the manufacturer has addressed the manufacturing problem, as I seem to recall that the manufacturer replied to one (or more) of the reviewers with complaints along these lines, and said that the problem has been resolved. I've purchased a 25 ft length, and also a 50 ft length. No problems with either hose. PS: I did try those self-deflating hoses that have been advertised extensively on TV. Very disappointing. Easily torn, and apparently an animal chewed through mine. So, those hoses are only OK for occasional use, and must be stored very securely inside. The Tuff-Guard is a completely different "animal". UPDATE 6/22/17 Still no problem at all with any of the three Tough-Guard hoses I bought! I cannot understand the large number of 1-star reviews. Perhaps there was an issue with the production at one time, but it was fixed? These are fantastic hoses, that's all know. ... show more

does what it says. I am 6 mos pregos with twins but my flowers and veggie garden still need to be watered everyday. I can either depend on the hubby to remember, (and have dead hanging plants on my porch) or use this hose! its lightweight. so I can drag it around the yard pretty easily. impossible to kink. (which I found bad one day when I wanted to "stop" the water while it was running to attach my sprayer) and seems sturdy enough to not rot in the sun. very great hose. glad I spent the extra money on this one. I would like to buy more but need to save up for that! i have a large yard :( UPDATE! this how is now almost 4 years old! it is still and now one the best blind purchases I have ever made on amazon! has NEVER kinked! stays out in the sun all summer long, not rot, no leaks, nothing! it still looks brand new. even the connections are still in tact and don't leak.. I really love this hose and I am ordering the 100 foot this year! so excited! ... show more

  • Tuff-Guard lacks any professional customer services.
Color: Blue Size: 25 feet
Beware. I purchased five of these and within a year four of them leaked badly. Where the brass end is fused to the hose (3 hoses), another one split 6 inches below brass end. My water is regulated at 60 lbs so it has nothing to do with it. Do to the unique manufacturing that actually makes it kink proof you cannot replace the brace end yourself. The split is between deep ribs so it too can't be replaced or cut out. I've purchased epoxy pressure hose kits, tried of course tapes of all types. Now here's the problem, it's a good hose as advertised for kink proofing but Tuff-Guard, the manufacturer, never responds to my customer service e-mails and there in no phone number. Read reviews and many people have the same issue and they too get no response for advise as how to repair our hoses. This leads me to believe they don't know how and they are not about to exchange it after warrantee. I saw that a large nursery not too far away sells them so I called hoping they could give me any tips. They quit selling them because of the complaints and they too are disappointed with Tuff-Guard. I hope this helps you. ... show more

  • Good hose, some negative comments are way over-blown.
Color: Blue Size: 50 Feet
We bought two of these hoses over a year ago and they have been in constant service in hot weather and freezing weather ever since. I like the fact that they are very light weight, easy to roll and store, and never kink. One of the hoses blew it's end off, as has happened to many other reviewers. However, it's not like that same thing has never happened to me before with any other hose! Every hose that I have from every other manufacturer has at least one end that has needed repair. Very few hoses that I have more than a year get by without repairing the ends. I went to Home Depot and got the brass hose-end repair fittings just like I always do and easily replaced the blown end. After that, no problem, and I have two hoses that I love. No big deal -- good grief you guys!! We have a large property with horses and animals and hoses everywhere. All of them need repair now and then. Meanwhile, what you are buying with this type of hose is special functionality. The light weight ease of them is worth having, and fixing the occasional end is an unbelievably minor issue. I have a set of hoses made by Sears that are extremely heavy-duty with solid brass ends that have not needed repair, but they are heavy, will kink, are a pain to roll up, and my wife doesn't have the patience to deal with them. Meanwhile, the Perfect Garden Hose is a good match for her. ... show more

  • Great for aging gardeners!
Color: Blue Size: 25 feet
We bought a couple of these Tuff-Guard hoses in late winter 2012 after reading that some work well and some not so well, because they aren't expensive and anything was better than the old hoses we were wrestling with. Those seem to be permanently stuck onto the faucets, came with the house, and possibly date back 20 years or more. They weigh a ton. Anyway, we got some nice landscaping put in, with native plants, trees and locally-sourced natural river rock and gravel replacing dying trees and overgrown, woody bushes that no longer bloomed much or did much for the townhouse. The landscaper suggested using a soaker hose, which we also purchased from amazon.com. (Guess we need to review that one too, elsewhere.) The soaker winds around the side of the house, along the entire length of the front, and ends up near the front steps of the house and the "people entrance" to the garage door which faces the front steps. Here's where the Tuff-Guard saves both our backs and tempers: The lightweight Tuff-Guard hose connects the soaker hose to the old 75-foot heavy hose, which stays coiled on a rack in the garage. There is a recent "Consumer Report" video on MSN (5/17/13) showing both the good points and drawbacks of these lightweight hoses. (They reviewed three brands.) The "drawbacks" mostly involved using the hose attached to an old-fashioned sprinkler that waves back and forth, or using it to fill a pool without holding it. We're sold on using hoses like Tuff-Guard with a bit of common sense. If you use one of those sprinklers, as long as you don't mind getting a bit wet, you can maneuver around the minor problem they showed. If you want to fill a pool or something, just weight the end down by leaning a couple of small rocks on either side of the end-piece. We personally have had no problems thus far of any kind. No leaks, good connectors, and the hose doesn't drag the soaker hose away from where we put it. After we finish the soaking, or whenever the baskets and planters on the porch look a bit dry, we find it easy to use the hose without the soaker, since it's so light and maneuverable. Attaching and detaching from the soaker hose is easy and quickly done. Our verdict? Worth the money. ... show more

  • TheBestHoseIEverBought
Color: Blue Size: 50 Feet
I'm always a skeptic when I read reviews online about anything, especially garden hoses, so I thought I'd give my own two cents worth on this absolutely "fantastic" hose right out of the box. I've always had a major pet peeve on any hose I've ever purchased. I've literally had over a 100 garden type hoses in my life because as a building contractor I went through many different makes and model hoses through use, abuse, neglect and loss etc., but this one by and far takes the blue ribbon. All I ever wanted from a hose is one that doesn't turn into a complete pile of junk usually after just a single year of use. Granted our seasons can be pretty brutal and with the sun damage and cold damage I doubt any hose would last forever. The hose material always turns to junk, gets brittle and loses any flexibility that it ever had. (a designed-in flaw for sure). Remember I'm a skeptic. The brass ends would split at the burls and threads and leak all over the place. They were usually difficult to grip and tighten by hand. The hose would kink and get basically impossible drag around obstacles, or to roll and coil up. The best hose was usually a thick heavy rubber hose that would coil up ok, but would end up not getting used because it was too heavy and cumbersome to work with. So what good was that? Now for the Tuff Guard hose. What an absolute delight to use so far. Right out of the box the hose unravels and lays flat and straight and is actually 50' long without any of the characteristic coil patterns that every other new hose ever has. You know, those other hoses spiral and coil so that when a 50' hose is stretched out its only 25' because of all the twisting. The Tuff Guard hose is extremely flexible, absolutely cannot kink, and because of the material slides and snakes around the ground slipping around stuff that a normal hose would just get stuck on. I have not seen any of the other reveiws mention this one "major" detail. When is the last time you were able to drag a hose around a car without getting the hose immediately stuck on the tires? Not a problem with this one. I have 80lbs of water pressure and so far not a single hint of a leak on the easy to grip, brass ends that were only hand tightned. I have two 50' hoses daisy chained together and not one leak. I purchased the two 50 footers to try them out and now after a month, I'm back online ordering 2 more and leaving this review. The only complaint I have about this hose is that they are difficult to find, and I only succeeded online. I tried Home Depot, and Lowes as those stores advertised them, but I found they didn't actually carry them. A disappointing waste of time. Every store should sell these hoses, but they won't because they'll probably only sell them once. (Told you I was a skeptic). I've already thrown out my 2 year old 300' of hose from a competitor that "absolutely guaranteed" them to stay flexible forever. What rubbish. Only time will tell on how long these hoses will last, but they're off to a great start so far. ... show more

  • Kink proof; light weight; but fail within the year
Color: Green Size: 100 Feet
This is a marvelous hose until it breaks. I have so far purchased three of them (and sadly, am purchasing a fourth). Both kink proof and lightweight they nonetheless always break within the year. All three hoses have broken within 12 months at the male end connector. I contacted the company about repairing the hoses--they say you can repair them the same way as any hose (with the usual replacement male end and metal clamps) but try as I might, the slippery nature of the hose material causes the repair to slip out even when I use super glue to better hold it in along with the clamp. This problem at the male end (the hose starts to slip and pin hole leak(s) appear) seems an endemic part of the design. An awful expensive hose to break so easily. ... show more

  • PERFECT hose for our use!
Color: Blue Size: 25 feet
I was looking for hose about 8 to 10 feet long that I could use in our dog bathing room in our kennel. Most hoses we had tried were too heavy and were also stiff and would constantly kink, shutting off the flow. I read all the reviews on this product, many of them negative regarding the hose ends falling off and leaking, but I planned to cut the hose to length anyway and use nylon repair ends so wasn't worried about that aspect. The hose arrived, I cut off an 8 foot section, attached a male nylon repair end and we are THRILLED with the hose... as advertised, it does NOT kink at all, it is light and extremely flexible and is just perfect for our needs. Incidently, the original brass female end is still being used and hasn't loosened up or leaked yet. If it does happen, I will replace that with a nylon one, but this hose is used for 5 to 6 hours every day, and is used with hot water under fairly high pressure and is the best one we have ever used in over 20 years of grooming dogs. Even the $100 plus "professional" grooming hoses do not measure up to it. ... show more
