I purchased this because of the size and construction. It was going to be placed on a covered porch so being waterproof is not a concern. All hardware was included and it was pretty easy to put together although the instruction sheet was vague. The only real issue was the bracket that holds up the top lid - no measurements as to where it is to be mounted and the mounting location is key to the function of the lid. Had to try several mounting points before finding one that would work. The floor floats- that is it just sits in place in the framework of the box. I installed a pressure activated heater pad on the floor and the cord for the heater dropped thru the clearance in the corner of the floor and the box with no drilling required, then covered the heater with a flannel blanket. This is pretty light but it's actually very solid. It is softwood, so don't overtighten screws as you could strip the holes out. The top hinges up for cleaning. On sunny days the cat sits on top and is very happy but not nearly as happy as he is coming out of it on a bitterly cold morning. When it's windy we cover it with a heavy moving blanket to insulate it a bit. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Cat loves it so I guess that's what matters most. I would buy it again - as a matter of fact I already have purchased a second one. ... show more

This thing is very well constructed. The rabbits love it. The manufacturer sent everything needed and the instructions are well written. Could not have made it for under $35! Ordered two and the buns love it.

This is a cute little house perfect for one full size chicken. The instructions were a little confusing and there are no pre drilled or marked places for screws, but overall fairly easy to assemble. The house is cozy and keeps my chicken dry and comfortable.

First I want to say I noticed reviews complaining about the smell, this thing has a beautiful cedar smell, I wish I could get my whole house to smell like this box. No split, cracked, or chipped pieces, all the wood in good condition. Assembly was a breeze, just a few simple steps, with extra hardware provided, feels sturdy enough for our feral friend. Cat showed up on our doorsteps a week ago crying out, we fed him, now he won’t leave, so I figured might as well get him a house, he seems to love lounging on top, still working on getting him to go to the bed we placed inside the box, he’s a cat he’ll figure it out, it’s only been 30 minutes so can’t complain. Wish I could let him inside but our 2 dogs and current cat don’t seem found of that idea, anyways now he’s got his own little spot. Looks nice outside too, definitely not an eyesore. ... show more

The cost is very reasonable for such a nice product. The item is packaged very well. I purchased for a stray cat that lives in my backyard. It’s a very good size, the description says extra small but it’s perfect for a cat or smaller animal. You do have to put some building skills to use, it’s pretty easy to put together. When I started putting it together I noticed it was missing several pieces to not be able to open or close the top/roof I have already put it together and my baby was excited about the hideout has no clue it was missing pieces. Item arrived with hinges already coming unscrewed. Once assembled with the pre drilled holes, they did not match up and the roof would not close. There is a huge gap between the roof and the front wall which is not supposed to be there. The hinge for the roof broke after closing.
