  • Assembly dream
This house is spacious for sure. The biggest thing I was impressed with was the ease of assembly and easy to follow directions. It was together in no time at all. As the person in charge of assembling everything at our house, this was the best thing to assemble ever. There are so many access doors. And again, this is so spacious for chickens, bunnies or other smaller animals. Thank you so much Trixie ... show more

  • It is perfect for chicks and a couple of bantams
Right now I have sixteen baby silkies in it and it is a great place for them at the moment. It is winter and they are warm and safe from the neighborhood cats. So glad I bought it when I did. It is perfect for my present needs. It is very attractive! It is a nice design. The top lifts up for easy viewing and cleaning. The nesting box lid also comes up for easily removing eggs. It has two doors for the chickens to enter and exit. They are small doors though, more suitable for bantams. I read in other reviews that it is made from soft fir from China. I would definitely say that the wood is soft, so soft you can screw the little screws in with only a screw driver and hardly any pressure at all. I've never seen wood like this before. Not sure how long it will last. I did buy another latch for the doors, as the ones on it are very small and flimsy. Not that big of a deal, but they probably should be replaced. One person wrote that the floor of it is not good, as a predator could easily push it up. I fear this complaint is true. It really does need to be fastened in better, and not just laying flat with nothing to hold it down and in place. I probably need to work on that. So far, I have no complaints and am thinking of buying another one. My chickens free range in the yard, so something like this is really all I need as long as they get locked in when the sun goes down. ... show more

  • Sweet
Excellent quality, took about 30 minutes to setup by myself, definitley would of gone faster with another hand. I coated mine inside and out with water thomas seal clear coat and it adds a nice finishing touch to it. For the price and quality, best deal ever.

  • This is more like a poorly built toy box than a chicken coop
This is more like a poorly built toy box than a chicken coop. The "walls" are about 1/4" thick and the framing members are no more than 1/2 square. The wood splintered just putting it together. The instructions are incomplete and I am worried if I put even one chicken in it the whole think will collapse. The top can be lifted and there is not way to secure it from animals lifting it to take a peek and attack your poor chickens. The bottom is made of 1/8" thick synthetic material that will not last more than a few minutes with wet chicken droppings. The top is coated with a green sandpaper- what is that supposed to do? It certainly wouldn't hold up even under morning dew conditions. What a waste of money,. I bought it for its size, but it still looks like a little toy sitting on my lawn. The size of the item makes it next to impossible to return, I'll never get it back in the box. ... show more

  • Easy set up, made well, update, not safe without surround fencing
Update- after putting it into service as it stands it is not safe enough, an animal could get the floor to raise enough to possible slip into the coop and the wood is so thin and splits so easily that it is not going to stand up to something gnawing on it or even the weather. There was no flashng to keep the rain out of the nesting box. It looks nice but it is cheaply made and we are going to end up building one ourselves. The roosts aren't far enough off the floor either. We ended up making a cage around the coop to protect the chickens. It was fine to use inside while the peeps were growing but unless you are going to have a fenced and roofed area for this coop don't get it. I could not believe how easy it was to set up, the holes all lined up nicely and the supplied bolts were on cardboard giving the letter for the bolts to correspond to the directions. The two of us had it together in a very short time, maybe a half hour? I didn't time it. We are using it now for our little chicks and we have it in our basement because of the cold weather. I don't care for the floor, I think I would have preferred an option to have a screened floor and a solid floor. I am not sure how easy it is going to be to clean. Right now I am using a heavy plastic so that I can pick the whole thing up and take it out and dump it. I might look for a tarp to fit for this purpose, taking the floor out all the time would be time consuming. Maybe once we get it out of the basement it would be easier? I am open for suggestions from anyone that has one of these about cleaning it. It is made in China which is not only surprising since it fits so well but sad that we can't have it made in the US. The entire coup is finished with some kind of water seal so there really is no need to paint it. ... show more

  • Does the job
As other reviews have stated, this thing is pretty cheaply made, but I needed something fast for a new chicken project and this fit the bill. Definitely don’t have high expectations for longevity but it’s been under a covered area for 8 or so months and is still holding up pretty well.
