  • Awesome Self Defense Sights
Color: HD Orange Front Outline Style: XD, XD(M) and XD Mod.2
Really great product overall. To me this is a great compromise between a product such as the XS Big Dots and a traditional 3-dot sight. Get the colored dot in the middle of the read sight and pull the trigger, easy peasy. The fit and finish are typical Trijicon and are excellent. The vials themselves glow very brightly at night. The colored front dot really stands out. The paint on the front dot is photo-luminescent and really shines in the sun, much more so than it would appear from the pictures. The black rear is serrated to prevent glare. The contrast between the colored front and black rear is great for drawing and shooting from concealment. Having a notch sight instead of just a post makes it, in my opinion, a bit easier to be sure of your windage. Also maintains the ability to pull off accuracy shots at distance such as on a range. My only negative might be the depth of the U-notch on the rear sight. It's quite deep as the sights are really meant as a combat sight. Only issue is that I noticed you have to bury the orange dot in the bottom of the notch in order for a cover hold to make point of impact = point of aim. In simple terms if I want to hit the bullseye by covering it with the front dot I need to make sure the front dot appears lower in my rear sight, to the point where it doesn't appear to be the same height as the rear. I think these sights are meant for a bit of a 6 o'clock hold. It's not really an issue, just not what I'm used to. At most I'd mark them down 1/2 a star. As another point specific to XD/XDm pistols. The rear sights are press fit in with a hydraulic press, not held if with a set screw. It can be a royal pain in the butt to get that rear sight off. Good advice is to spray it with some penetrating oil and let it sit for ~ 5 minutes. I would NOT recommend trying to remove the rear or front with just a hammer and brass rod. It really takes a sight pusher to break the mechanical lock on these. There are a few decent universal ones and some specific ones as well. Of course you could also just bring it to a local smith, make sure he has the sight tool first, and pay like $30 for the install. ... show more

  • Works on XDm. Don't recommend self-install.
Color: Bright & Tough Style: XD, XD(M), XD Mod.2, and XD-S
I purchased these for my first Springfield, an XDm 3.8 Compact .45. I put Trijicons on all my conceal pistols for reasons you understand if you're reading this. After checking reviews here and elsewhere, I called around to a few local gunsmiths to get quotes on installing them, and every time I mentioned it was for a Springfield XDm, I either got a groan or a higher price. After settling on a smith, I took everything in, and he got to work. He was a friendly guy, so we chatted for a bit, and I watched him do everything. Compared to having sights put on my Glocks, this was quite a trial: he had actually had pieces of brass machined specifically for Springfields so he didn't have to put the slides directly against the steel vise (steel would scrape off the finish whereas brass is relatively soft). After 20+ minutes, he came over with a concerned look on his face and showed me where the brass had worn through the Melonite finish on the slide. He apologized profusely, said the sight job was on the house, and started to put some blue on it to cover it up. As I was considering whether to tell him he would be replacing my week-old pistol, he hurried back up and showed it was actually brass that had worn off the block. He sat for another 20 minutes and worked very lightly with fine steel wool and oil to get it all off, and after being taken in and out of a holster several dozen times, all residue is now gone. Once the sights were on, they have been everything you'd expect: good in the daytime and great in low-light conditions. In fact, if you've been in a very dark room for a while, you'd swear you could put them against a piece of paper and have a chance at reading text on it. I have an AlienGear CloakTuck hybrid holster, and the sights have never caught on it or my clothing while practicing my draw. Pros - As advertised, performs perfectly in low-light to aid in aiming. - Form factor prevents snagging on holsters or clothing. - 12-year warranty. Cons - Apparently very difficult to put on, even to the point of possibly damaging the pistol during install. ... show more

  • Bright Sun to Pitch Black - Brilliant!
Color: Bright & Tough Style: XD, XD(M), XD Mod.2, and XD-S
Excellent sights! The florescence tubes are surrounded by extremely bright white rings which makes them very easy to see during the day. They are capped by sapphire or other elemental material that protects the tubes and makes cleaning easy. I was a little concerned about the intensity of the brightness when I bought them (tubes are about the size of a stick pin). They are very bright and easily seen during low an no light situations. I have "Green - Green" sights (Bright White and Tough). Both front and rear housings are smaller then the manufacturer, so the front sights clear OEM holster without any problem. the "dots" themselves are the same size as my OEM. I cannot say how very pleased I am with the brightness! Man these sights are BRIGHT! I carry my firearm constantly. I know some people think they need to be subjected to bight light to make them "glow", but you don't. My firearm is concealed most of the day and fluoresce all night long with dependable intensity. We have proper tooling to remove and to install sights, even so, pretty tough to get the old ones out and put new ones in. I hear of people s beating on their sight and slides with hammers, punches, freezing slides and filing off metal to make sights fit. If you resort to these measures, you need to take your weapons to a gunsmith or put them away forever. And if it is your gunsmith that are using these processes to get your sights off / on, walk out and never return. "Right tool for the job" after all, you may depend on this firearm to protect you and your loved ones, why beat on them with a hammer? Makes no sense to me. Excellent sights, I could not be happier with my very first Trijicon product. Very well worth the price! ... show more
